Just watched it about an hour ago.
People weren't joking, its writing really was just like a longer episode of the show, with just a little extra oomph to make it a bit more movie-esque. And I'm absolutely fine with that. No need to write a definitive finale. Dib and Zim can torment each other for eternity this way, as it should be.
Hell, nothing that happened seems like it'll hold permanence in the show's universe, so everything will be back to normal in a week.

This just might be my favorite part. Which is hard to say because it was full of great bits.

No. It's fun, and the massive break in time between the original airing of the show and this movie has kept the idea still fresh. I don't think it should get another season, if only because I don't think Johnen would have any idea how to end things properly or keep the show from growing stale. After all, the majority of people watching the show are 25-40, so we have money to prop it up, but we don't have time to watch it like kids do.

As a matter of personal preference, I like the idea of Zim getting taller (or at the very least making himself "look" taller) to compete with the Membrane siblings. I don't think Zim would be one to let his rival upstage him. And as puts it, it helps for stories that involve shipping to some capacity, but that's another can of worms in itself.

Honestly the idea of Zim changing for any duration of the series is just as farfetched as any character in this series, and we all know everything is back to normal next week anyway.

Any shred of context, any twist of the character, any sort of relief to the loins is fueling this stuff, and makes people think for a good two minutes on some sort of context to force people together. Most discard the idea and never post but some push through the personal shame and try to break through with sexy and smutty Invader Zim stuff and it comes out all stickly and dumb.

People want passionate people to fuck and improve the species with passionate babies, and Zim, Tak, Dib, are all very motivated people on seemingly Sisyphian tasks. That's why shippers are bashing rocks together trying to make flint and tinder of these guys.

It was even better then I hoped.
It had the classic IZ quality but with improvements added over years of hindsight such as Gaz and Membrane's characterization.

Even the art style, which I initially didn't like, looks so much better when in actual motion and even surpasses the original.

It was a 9/10 film with really the only complaint I can give it is that similarly with the Rocko film the tone feels more like a season reboot then a finale or closure.

This makes me hope so god damn much that we somehow get even more. That maybe Nick or Netflix was testing out the series to gauge interest.

It reminded me why despite it's been associated with cancer and cringe culture for so many years, why Invader Zim was so beloved to begin with.

Just watched it. No real problems with it besides those weird shitty flash animation shots here and there. Wouldn't surprise me if those were had something to do with Justin Roiland being involved.
New style was fine, but I would've prefered it to be a little more visually gross. I also still prefer the darker implications that used to be incorporated into the show. Nick was likely a little more strict this time around. Despite that though, the writing remained close enough and the rest of the animation was pretty great. Felt nice to have it back and unbastardized unlike most reboot drivel.

Before that I had always assumed all comics were either Cape or Sunday morning stuff. Seeing comics that told a story but didn’t have to a continuous superhero plot opened my eyes and made me develop a love for them. I actually met Jhonen in person at a con by accident and told him that.

The use of background noise for quick gags is also criminally underrated in the entire series. There's so many jokes that can just go by unnoticed in every episode without paying attention to whats going on off-screen.

They didn't go through a core of a star. There was an episode where it shows them driving close to the camera and a star is in the background and people think they were actually in it even though stars are huge and it was just a perspective take.
That said, the entire universe blew up with them at the epicenter of it and they survived.
