I did read the first issue
It was horrible.
The art was okay, but the writing was atrociously bad.
The writer said she would take cues from Hasting's run (basically Gwen's only good run), but It's trying so hard to be Marvel Harley Quinn instead. And not even the good original Harley but the lolsorandom trainwreck she's become.
I, in all good conscience, cannot recommend the first issue of the new series nor do I have hopes for it to get better. Gwen may end up being one of those characters who only has one good run because she's handed off to mouth-breathing retards afterwards.

An interesting idea popped up inn that same thread. Check the lipstick of gwen in the new comic, now check it on one of its previous comics, like this one . I'm not gonna give the author that much credit, but we might be seeing the beginnings of evil gwen

The Evil gwen we know existed several years in the future. I won't deny that current gwen is way more maniac than her evil self, but her actions are more or less in accordance to what the evil gwen believed and did.

Also, she did learn new abilities when she was Evil Gwen, things regular Gwen didn't know. You also forget the fact that she's wearing hot pants instead of a leotard, which seems like a conscious decision too even though every cover has her wearing the leotard. My two cents about Evil Gwen. Or rather reminder. She didn't became evil while searching for power and relevancy. She became evil because she couldn't save a friend, because "Muh Canon" wouldn't let her change the outcome. She became jaded and cynical, since nothing she does has any meaning, so she started wreaking havoc since Marvel will clean it up anyway.

I excpect NO such depth from this miniseries. Hell, it will be miracle if she meets Batroc and her brother is even mentioned.

A quick google search turns out that between 2004(turns out it was 13 years instead of 7) and 2017 he made a Longshot mini, a deadpool mini, vote Loki, I am groot and gwenpool among others. It just happened that Dr. mcninja had to end on that same time and even hastings joked that he wanted to end the comic sooner in order to make the beginning and end dates match.

There are way better writers they could have given it to, but the art is good enough and outside of the exposition heavy parts of the story the humor wasn't terribly forced. If it improves with a few issues or another mini I might end up glad it introduced things like being able to see Gwen's random thoughts and a running gag of her thinking about animal penises.

The new #1 was all over the goddamn place. There was a nice little self-contained story, some of the jokes were nice, some of the "jokes" made me want to die. I'm giving it a chance, hoping to see more of the former and less of the latter.
