Whedon is.....lmao Its crazy how the Russos are so much better directors than him Even the scripts; the dialouge in Avengers is godawful (Except Starks, but that’s only because RDJ)
I have to say I wonder how much better Avengers and AoU could’ve been.
Thoughts?
Watching the films in succession, you see everyone but Sam Jackson age.
Imagine what Thanos would have been under Whedon's direction/screenplay
Jeremiah Jackson
The Russos directed The Winter Soldier, which today still remains the best superhero movie I've seen.
Brandon Gonzalez
I always thought the only reason Avengers was held in such high regard was because most of the heavy lifting and character introductions had already been taken care of in the previous films. The only character he had to introduce himself (Hawkeye) turned out to be the weakest part if the entire film.
It wasn't til AoU that it became clear how shitty of a writer he was. The movie's main point should have been to explain properly for thw first time what the infinity stones were and he seemed to not to even want to bother with it.
David Reyes
Yikes Woulda been tacky and awful no doubt
Nathaniel Miller
I will say, while it was awesome seeing it for the first time, this film has aged more poorly than any other MCU film for some reason.
Josiah Howard
Think of how forgettable Ultron was and you get the idea.
Liam James
In 2012 people would combust from rage and report you for trolling, if you dared to suggest that Whedon is a known hack and that The Avengers is a crappy movie that succeeded on brand power alone.
Asher Nelson
Yeah i remember But The Avengers is really not that great of a film. This is the first time ive rewatched it and it was hard to sit through it. Comparatively the 4 Russo films seem to hold up great
Nolan Smith
The joke here is that nothing has changed. The Russos aren't total clowns like Whedon but they're still hacks and Infinity War and Endgame once again succeeded on brand power. See you in eight years when it becomes acceptable to admit that crappy movies are indeed crappy.
Robert Nelson
If brand power is all it takes, why wasn't Up from savaged upon release?
Liam Taylor
.....but people still like Winter Soldier years later.
Joseph Murphy
*Ultron
Ian Perez
Okay. But by 2015 we knew The Avengers was trash. 5 years out from TWS and everyone still loves it.
Carson Lee
Actually that raises a good point, cause Ultron debuted to mixed reviews whereas Avengers was pretty beloved.
Levi Long
It's embarrassing it took until 2015. About as embarrassing as it taking years to realise how shoddy TFA was.
Josiah Gutierrez
I'm still a fan of the original Avengers. It isn't perfect, but it succeeded where no one thought it could, it was widely predicted to be a jumbled mess. Avengers has many, many great moments in it.
Jack Evans
I like how neither of you said Civil war.
Liam Lewis
Nah TFA wasn’t really as hyped when it was first released, TFA and the First Thor were pretty mixed.
I actually like TFA way more as time passes desu
Kevin Gonzalez
Iron Man 6 was only 3 years ago it hasn’t been as long
It’s a great film though and is a much better Avengers movie than 2012 or AoU
Benjamin Morales
the Russos are overrated. Endgame was only a 4/10 movie and only handled color well, just a boring fan service movie. Shame they couldn't follow up the greatness of Infinity War
Adam Myers
I still have favorable opinions of the first two Avengers (mostly because of this it should have been impossible to execute such an ambitious film judging by all the other failed attempts at cross-overs or just how incomprehensible most big event movies are) but yeah. It's obvious Joss has been writing and directing for TV 99% of his career and only done like one movie before. Written like a snappy sitcom and directed like he keeps forgetting he has a huge budget. It's also super refreshing when the Russos do a movie and the tone is almost entirely serious with no quips every scene like most of the MCU or every single line of dialog like Joss movies.
Julian Rodriguez
To be fair, Endgame is half of a film and it really shows. That being said as a cohesive unit, IW+EG arent so great. Im not entirely sure how Endgame could be improved to IW’s heights.
Cause yeah IW is some godtier capeshit.
I think EG coulda been a time heist without being so obnoxious on the fan service front. I didnt need a retrospective on the MCU; I needed the backend of the story started in iW.
IW was as great as it was because Thanos was the main character....maybe Cap should’ve been the focus of EG?
Killing everyone but the original 6 in IW was a mistake also
Camden Howard
>Thanos without gauntlet >more powerful than ever >Malekith 2.0 HURR I WANT TO KILL THE WHOLE UNIVERSE! >MUH RUZZZOZ! fucking hacks
Jason Turner
I enjoyed it but it was only 3 years ago, not really conductive to the point I was trying to make
Logan Carter
Always thought it wasn't a very good movie. Didn't hold up then, not surprised it doesn't really hold up now. Yeah, Whedon is hacky.
Ian Morgan
Use your words user
Jeremiah Richardson
Go to Yea Forums if you want to talk about film.
Christian Nelson
Avengers 2.5 had too much Stark, TWS was better.
Jacob Roberts
I liked that scene where Hulk punches Thor right after they arrive in a building
Luis Clark
>hit in the nuts >”OH! Right in the infinity stones!”
