The first ep wasn't the greatest, it took me a couple of episodes before I warmed up to it but I did end up finishing the whole thing.

I'm kind of lukewarm on it. A lot of the jokes hit their mark but equally as many are like, uncomfortably crass. Like the running gag where one of the kids has complex, intimate sexual relationships with inanimate objects that appear to be sapient (a pillow even gets pregnant at one point) just grosses me out. And the weirdness cranks way up in one episode where one of the other characters acknowledges it, confirming that it's not just some weird elaborate fantasy in his head.

The only thing I really like about it is that it's honest about kids actually sexually mature in ways that other similar stories are way too scared to touch on, and it usually does it fairly tastefully. The ugly as sin art style is probably in part so that it can show nudity and talk about sexual subjects with kid characters but the whole thing is completely devoid of sex appeal.

If you have time give it another go. If you've got other stuff on your watchlist, though, I'd maybe give it a miss.

I watched a couple of clips and it feels like my brain is being scrambled. There's too much going on in every single frame and there's not enough color contrast, I can't really see what's going on. But that's all I can really say.

I feel that all of the supposedly former human islanders were once human have their idiosyncrasies turned up to eleven. Ester would be overtly uptight, Todd may become a terrible magician and Reggie evolving into a caricature of a super hero, so her desires for respect and admiration would be hyper-exgerrated into this glory-hound of a "hero", who is more akin to Borbo in being a spanner in the worms.
