Will it live up to the hype?
Will it live up to the hype?
No they'll play it to safe for it to be the dumpster fire we all want. I'm sure there'll be the usual clangers and stupidity but nothing really surprising
>Ewing
Yes
> Loeb/Sale
Yes, it’s better than either of the DC1000s already
Yes and no...
You will have guys like Busiek, Claremont, PAD, Gaiman, Conway, Ewing, Hickman, Simonson, Thomas, etc, and yes! you will have some of the best decades of Marvel but also remember that we will have at least 10 pages with all this shitty decade and writers like DeConnick, Aaron, Whitley, Cates, Ahmed, etc
Even the 90's will be kino compared to the last 10 years.
What hype? You mean marketing
I dunno, there are a lot of writers i like involved but most of them won't get more than three pages.
Ewing is coordinating and the one with the most pages, so i'm pretty sure it will be cohesive and worth to read.
Should came out in two weeks, right?
Place your bets, who will write the Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel page
a- The guy that created her (Thomas)
b- The guy that made her Ms Marvel (Conway)
c- The guy that not only wrote most of her comics and villains but also saved her after the rape thing, plus gave her Binary powers (Claremont)
d- The guy that made her even more complex by making her alcoholic, plus a change of identity as Warbird (Busiek)
e- DeConnick.
just more sjw shit and lot's of censorship of older "problematic" comic book lore parts
Why 1000?
Has ANYTHING EVER lived up to its hype?
2019 I am forgotten. Poor old Reed-kun, got EVENTED every single step of the way and now this user doesn't even have him in the running
Stohl.
Ewing will write a good story, everything else will be trash
Both Ewings, I hope.
There's no hype.
*There's no hope.
ftfy
there is any hype for this?
He fucked Halo so fuck him.
I'm expecting it to come out and be just ok, no one will talk about it a week after release
Write the longest single run the character will ever have, get everything you've done get buried. Pottery for a character like carol
>50% Ewing
It'll be hard for it to fall below Action #1000 or Detective #1000.
Its a made up issue 1000 to charge retards $10 or more and churn out 1000 variant covers for a nonstory fake issue 1000 they will overship by 200,000 to beat dc milestones.
>Any Marvel gimmick from the past 10 years living up to the hype
Not even the ultra hyped Secret Wars did it.
Longest, not to mention best.
It's going to be Kelly Thompson.
It really all depends how good of a job Ewing does editing the other writers and making everything work. Otherwise it will be a clusterfuck of a mess.
I think the problem is that you're all expecting too much from it. It's a celebration of Marvel with a bunch of people wanting to write shit they want to write as part of that celebration. It's not a MARVEL UNIVERSE GAME CHANGER. You'll have sub-par stories from sub-par writers, maybe even some big surprises from people who aren't even comic writers, and hopefully the good writers we're all looking forward to pull off serviceable parts. This many heads on a single beast is never going to be a tight and coherent masterpiece but it's not meant to be. It's just supposed to be fun.
It's going to make a lot of money and that's all that Marvel really wants.
4 chin bucks, 1st page will have capt. marvel
That comic will be released during the same week as:
>Absolute Carnage #2
>HoX #3
>Spider-Man: Life Story #6
>Three other one-shots: FF: Yancy Street, Marvel Monsters and Power Pack: Grow Up (four if you count the She-Hulk Annual)
Based random NY goon getting in on this cover over everyone from the Fantastic Four.
More like Marvel Comics #2 or Marvel Mystery Comics #93
>they will overship by 200,000 to beat dc milestones.
This so much. It'll be filling 50 cent bins within a year, and some shops will be just handing them out on next Free Comic Day. It's going to tank almost as hard as that Image 10th Anniversary hardcover.
>It would be #1000 if it never stopped being published (which has been 70 years)
>It would actually be #960 since #1 or #934 going by Marvel Mystery Comics count
>Absolute Carnage #2
>Spider-man: Life Story #6
>Marcel Comics #1000
This is going to be a interesting and tight week.
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't invited... blame Marvel!
There's no way in hell that DeConnick isn't writing a Captain Marvel page, considering the artist attached is the same one as her CM ongoing.
This. There's no reason to make a bet when this is obvious, they brought Lopez back for this specific purpose.
You're only right about the variants and the price (I think it's cheaper but whatever), but this overship meme is ridiculous. They don't need to do that.
Very upset the Jen Bartel Storm cover is 40 bucks and also not a cover for HoXPoX
Absolute Garbage #2 won't sell as much as the #1, I guarantee you that. It's gonna have a steep drop in sales compared to #1...
Either way, remember Marvel #1000 is more expensive than these other top charters, so in dollar rank alone it will be 1°.
This one costs $40? Oh boy, eBay is gonna have a field day with these variants.
Imagine if people gave a shit
Midtown Comics has it for like $42 marked down from $50
I should've preordered a pair of copies from mmcomics, they often have 50% discount if you order as soon as the solicitations come up.
There is no hype, but it will sell well anyway because half of the capes-market is just collectors that buy variantcovers and number ones and number 1000.
Superhero comics are long dead outside of hoarder boomers.
There WAS hype when it was announced though, the actual hype-killer was JJ Abrams' comic. But at the very least people are curious about Marvel #1000, even though it took too long to come out
What's Takeda doing nowadays?
Working on Monstress with Marjorie Liu
Jim Shooter
It will be better than Action Comics #1000 and Detective Comics #1000 and that's something that pains me a lot to say.
That said, I'm at least happy for Ewing getting the recognition he deserves after being thrown under the bus by marvel for so many years. Can't wait for this and Immortal Hulk #25
For some reason people think her art is worth more than a dollar.
no ff but there's miles, gwen and squirrel girl.
fuck marvel
I just want it to introduce Miracleman/Marvelman as a villain.
Because DC did it first and Marvel's entire gimmick at this point is "copy DC, claim we're original"
Ah yes bruiser Immortal Hulk is definitely a ripoff, right?
colossus is centerpoint of 1000 cover? I mean I like him and all... just seems random.
The Artgerm cover is fucking Emma Frost. Marvel gives no fucks.
that's just kinda how the Giant Size 1 cover fit in
>Spider-Gwen
>Squirel-Girl
They had so many other fucking options, where are the Fantastic Four
I don't think current Jeph Loeb will add much, maybe he could write something goo but his stuff hasn't seemed that good to me recently
>No Human Torch
>No Namor
>Three Spider-Men
I am angry.
ANGRY ABOUT COMIC COVERS.
1939 was 80 years ago.
You forget
>end up doing it better
Because Detective Comics #1000 is the second best selling comic this century, behind Star Wars #1.
Marvel wants the #1 and #2 spot.
Dollars is a way better statistic than units, considering these things don’t all cost the same
>Because Detective Comics #1000 is the second best selling comic this century
yeah but that had a 1000 issue before it
this follows nothing
that and the numbers are based on units ship not sold and we have know now for almost 10 years Marvel is really bad about shipping extra units the stores never ask for.
True, but having ~the best selling comics~ is something marvel will want too, sounds really good for PR reasons.
Also both of Tec 1000 and Marvel 1000 are 9.99
>Marvel 1000 are 9.99
unless the thing is at least 72 pages I can't see this selling well.
ITs 80. 80 pages for 80 years
Also there's way more artists than the original 80, so they decided to make a Marvel Comics #1001 with other 80 pages.
Pretty sad that Spiderman will always have hangers on like miles/Gwen in marketing pieces. Everyone else is solo
That’s can’t be true, 1001 is a 5 dollar comic
Oh I see, it only has 40 pages according to the solicitations. Makes sense.
