Because times have changed how people perceive interests. Back in the day, having a fascination with creepy monsters, serial killers, or laughing at innocent things getting wrapped up in graphic deaths was viewed as anti-social, weird, and basically a school shooter in the making.

I thought it was alright, but some of the jokes were kinda retarded like the part where zim and dib yell back and forth "You're not gotta get awa- what?!" like 5 times. It just goes on too long as is annoying, but the show kinda had shit like that too. The tone feels consistently the same too. Like it's just a new long episode.
