Why the fuck was Black Manta even in this film? Why the fuck is Black Manta, some random fucking pirate, considered Aquaman's arch-nemesis and greatest villain, when Aquaman is the king of a nation and has political enemies within Atlantis that are fare more intimidating?

To have some sick action sequences and set up the sequel
Use your brain, idiot

Because fuck you

Because he was the side villain just like Klaw and Scarecrow? Because his backstory is a good way to estabilish hero ethic code on DCEU to contrast with Snyder previous brutal shit?

They also got his backstory out of the way here so they can go peak Manta in the sequel.

>Why the fuck is Black Manta, some random fucking pirate, considered Aquaman's arch-nemesis and greatest villain
Because he is the most popular villain of his comic just like The Joker and Lex Luthor.

Has the Joker or Lex Luthor ever been a side villain any time they've been in a film with their respective superhero?
Why did Black Manta become Aquaman's Joker? I'm admittedly not well versed in Aquaman comics, having only read Johns's New 52 run, but Orm alone seems like a more compelling villain for Aquaman.

>He has never been to a manta thread

>Why did Black Manta become Aquaman's Joker

he killed his kid

Orm does have a lot going on with Arthur, though Geoff is largely responsible for his modern interpretation as a more noble, tragic antagonist (not a villain per-se).

Manta has a decades long history of being a brutal, awful cunt that is responsible for some of the most notable stories in Aquaman's history, chiefly among them being him murdering Aquaman's infant son.

>How's the wife and kid

I just thought of something
what if, instead of the big reveal that black manta was blaqualad's dad, what if a story went the other way around and you were introduced to a sidekick's dad and he turned out to be a villain..
like here you are, this hero guy, you've got yourself a quality sidekick... and you meet his dad and he's some kinda jerk, maybe even resents your being his new adult male friend, like what does he need you for, trying to replace me?
and then... yknow he turns out to be a supervillain, or maybe he only just starts that life up.

CW really going all out on those crossover tv show effects now

Just saw it, he was pretty fuckin sweet dude.

Possibly because they weren't sure how Aquaman would fare after JUSTice League and Wan wanted to throw in everything possible.

More likely because no one thought he could have been cut down to a minor cameo and saved for the sequel because his action scenes are too damn cool and Yahya Abdul was too great casting to waste like that.

Black Manta killed his son

CHAD Manta

You think the sequel will have an adaptation of this scene?

They'll most definitely change it to Black Manta killing Tom Curry

>Tom becomes Uncle Ben before UB shows up in MCU as a flashback

He was great. Did you even watch the movie?

Cause the animated series always portrayed black manga as the anti to superman and a lot of people only watch the tv shows. They tried to balance both of them, and even in the film Aquaman' s enemy isn't mainly black manga as much as it's manta's opening into being a consistent obstacle.

Also black pirates is a thing in modern times and is probably one of the better ways to show human ingenuity and motivation rising to topple the superior race in a reverse of most Batman films.

>Why the fuck was Black Manta even in this film?
Because Cereal Lord is a unimaginative man-child who took a literal throw-away character created by Bob Haney for the lols

Manta only exists because they needed a villain for Arthur, which is the same reason another throwaway character who initially was nothing was turned into Ocean Master

>Why the fuck is Black Manta, some random fucking pirate, considered Aquaman's arch-nemesis and greatest villain, when Aquaman is the king of a nation and has political enemies within Atlantis that are fare more intimidating?
Once again, many comic book writers are brainlets and felt that being put on the Arthur books was a punishment and half-assed the job

>>a literal throw-away character
Hol' up there buckeroo
Can you honestly name me some genuine villains from Aquaman's rogue gallery that wouldn't have half the audience shaking their head. Cause it fucking Aquaman, and I have to admit even after coming into the theaters with low expectations, it did pretty good
