What is the most logical thing that can happen with Rorschachs journal?
Many variables on the table. But what would really happen?
Rorschachs Journal of Schroedingers cat
It seems they just want a filler, what if Seymour write it as a hoax story? Would any believe them? How big and determinet was their readership?
Would anyone believe them? Would they believe Rorschach?
Rorschach is known to the public as crazy and vanished after a prison break.
Rorschach’s Journal or Punishers War Journal?
>What is the most logical thing that can happen with Rorschachs journal?
I am not even ironical there. it's the most logical consequence.
Rorschachs, they have the same amount of blood in it but Rorschachs bodycount is higher
What would really happen is it would be dismissed as rubbish with no details in the back of an extremist opinion rag that nobody reads. It only loosely, with no details, implicates Veidt in the "mask killer" conspiracy theory, which nobody will care about because they hate super heroes anyways, and they especially hate Rorsharch, who is a fucking murderer
I think it is possible, but i dont think i see that organisate.
Not like Buffys slayer organisation but more like Lone Gunmen.
Thast plausible. The question is if the Frontierman even could understand the journal and make a coherent story out of it.
The police describe Rorsharch's writing as either so messy it's either illegible or some elaborate code, but Seymour doesn't seem to have any trouble reading it, even an earlier passage from before Rorsharch was making a concerted effort to make it easy to read. The larger issue is that Rorsharch doesn't know how big this thing is going to be before he leaves for Antarctica and I truly can't imagine anyone giving a fuck about a theory that the world's most beloved athlete and philanthropist killed The Comedian (a government agent whose actions are largely classified) and drove off Manhattan (who scares the fuck out of people)
I always had the idea for a miniseries that the journal was read, the story was run, and while the rest of the world panicked and furied or played ignorant, the two guys from the New Frontiersman went on a road trip around the world to continue verifying the story and the journal's contents.
Thats a really good point. He left the journal, which in fact is not written like a confession or wikipedia article.
Its more like these convoluted, messy conspirancy websites, where you have to click back and forth for the connections,
And the ones we see are no reporters but writers. Guess today they would make a blog or youtube video than be employed by a news company.
That sounds interesting. A Road trip.
Honestly, probably nothing. Rorschach isn't the only conspiracy theorist out there. That slush pile probably has plenty of "Veidt is a secret communist", "Veidt is a secret homosexual", and "Veidt is a secret Martian" screeds. Hell, someone's probably accused Veidt of creating the psychic squidalien already and been ignored. Rorscach's penchant for metaphor will probably dissuade people from examining it seriously, too.
The reason Veidt's plan works (much more so than in the movie) is that it's so absurd that it's almost unbelievable that it'd be traced back to him, despite his association with genetic engineering.
>Rorschachs bodycount is higher
I doubt it, discounting autism like blaming him for not stopping Adrian in time
I thought more of Marvel policy he kills less than wound them.
Guess that you are right. It will be more like 9/11 conspirancy. And if you followed the media with Rorschachs capture, he will be seen as a nutjob who maks the unbelievable even more unbelievable.
Manhattan implied that things were not over yet, so I think the diary could have some consequences, not as mayor change but as the possible start of an investigation.
No one can read his handwriting
Thts would be funny, a small thing like "write it readable" brings Rorschachs deadman switch to fall.
What if it starts something like x-files of thing?
As far as i know, there's not even much verifiable info in his journal.
Veidt even killed everyone from the pyramid company.
That in and of itself might seem suspicious to someone investigating Veidt. Besides which just because Adrian says he's covered all his tracks doesn't mean he actually has. This is the same man who picked Ozymandias as his superhero name remember. If there's one trait that defines Veidt, it's his arrogance.
Deaths can be used to verify info. But sure Veidt made sure that the Squid personal staff was a closed system and only a handfull, like his butler, was a connection between the coup and real world.
What are the odds that if someone investigate, he will take measures to keep it low or smoke and mirror it?
Rorschach was always a nutjob in the public eye but IIRC the publishing house he sent it too were also big fans of his "work". So no doubt if the schlub finds it, they'll definitely print it as a lead story some shit. The problem now is the publishing house's reputation and who's going to believe them. There's also a chance that Ozymandias' goons could put some stains on their story.
Really in the end, who's going to believe in the journals of a mad man? I think Veidt's society will fall apart through various other means with Rorschach's journal only being retrospectively appreciated.
why is John Munch watching the watchmen
Wouldnt Ozy keep playing his part to keep the peace?
I think Rorschach could inspire some other vigilante to investigate it and fight Ozy. The biggest queston is if Silk Spectre and Nite Owl play along or fight it?
Who else should do it?
Graham Nortonson did lots of smart things in Watchmen. One of the smartest things was ending it before that ridiculous heap of bullshit could play out.
"DURRR. Here is a duel: in one corner the ultragenius-trillionaire who just prevented nuclear armaggedon... in the other corner, a pork-and-beans-stained-diary published by a shitty tabloid!!"
Who do you think is going to win you fuckin' mong?
Didn’t Doomsday Clock say the Journal leaked and that it helped turn the world against Ozymandias?
It will become a conspiracy theory or Alex Jones-esque open secret. People will be way too busy undermining the authenticity of the source once it's out and it's hard to say what Oz would do to the person who made it public, so a lot of discussion will be not about the actual contents of Rorschach's journal, but how it checks out, like
>Hey, how come Rorschach just mysteriously disappeared, is he dead?
>He probably died during alien attack, dude.
>So, just a random doofus stumbled upon journal of a guy with no life?
>If he had no life and no friends, some random doofus is only one he could trust it with
>Maybe it's a super villain ploy to make us doubt the Watchmen
>What super villain in this day and age?
>Where's Dr. Manhattan?
>No one has seen him when chimped out during interview
>Why two of the most prominent Watchmen disappeared after alien attack, which is described in the Journal?
Something like that.
Something worth noting is that other than Rorschach it's the New Frontiersman who has pieced the conspiracy almost entirely. They published articles about the missing artists and scientists, as well as the psychic whose brain was stolen. Rorschach's journal would help them confirm that they were onto something. So it depends on whether Seymour even bothers with it, knowing already it was some crazy guy's journal, but if they read it they'd likely run a story on it
Remember the scale that Manhattan operates on. Just because "nothing ever really ends" doesn't mean Veidt's plan is going to unravel immediately. It could be years later, after no more psychic aliens have appeared and global powers are trying to see what they can get away with. It could even decades later, after Veidt is dead - because he will die one day. He is mortal. And that's the difference between him and Manhattan - he is a man, and Manhattan is not.
>Maybe it's a super villain ploy to make us doubt the Watchmen
>the watchmen
pretty much everyone except Ozy and Jon were already discredited by the time the story began. with Jon going rogue and Dan pulling a prison break nobody would care about them anyway. it's implied Dan and Laurie are still patrolling but under different names. they might not be the only ones. but whatever backlash related ot Rorschach's journal would not befall on or be linked to them
They seem totally bluepilled.
Even their blonde hair shows them following Veidt's ideal American couple.
