I would say that it's even worse than we tend to make it out to be, but that's only because some people had the good sense to ignore it and thus cannot contribute to the discussion of how astonishingly terrible it is.
But you're free to make up your own mind. Just don't pay money for it.
Have you actually bothered reading the reviews?
>it's good because it has a strong, independent woman
>finally, a superhero for the LGBTQ to look up to
>seriously folks you're missing out on this landmark of an LGBTQ icon
>did we mention that she's a woman and gay?
>also it was written by a gay woman too, seriously, when you're done scrolling through Pintrest you should check it out and buy seven copies to SMASH THE PATRIARCHY
They're even more superficial and pandering than the comic. Download it off getcomics if you're that curious on how much of a trainwreck it is.
>it won awards
If you are still enamored by products being given meaningless awards and titles you are probably they type that'd enjoy the garbage that is this comic.
Idk how much of the hate is due to the knee-jerk reaction certain people have against woke/SJW shit. Conversely, it could be worse than what reviewers indicate since they tend to give credit for progressivism points
I’m pretty sure they paid off critics to write good reviews for it. It got canceled after a few months because it flopped financially and even Reddit agrees that it’s fucking atrocious and cringe.
8.5 on IGN means it's garbage, barely above a C
No, of course not. But I suggest you read it yourself and make up your own mind.
>Amy Shumcer humour
no wonder why this shit got cancelled
America is so bad that it’s good. 8.5 is fair
if you haven't read it, just don't post
The problem with the book was its self indulgence. It was so proud that it was a comic with an LGBTQX latinx lead that it forgot to write actual characters. It also had a problem with the classic tell don't show and probably its biggest problem was how it seemed to make the exciting parts of the books boring as fuck and the boring part of the books "interesting", the adventures she went on was shit like going back to WW2 to punch hitler who was on a battlefield for some reason and her life was going to some interdimensional college (named after the newer supreme court justice sotomayor for some reason) yet nothing in the book worked because no one was a character just the woke archetypes meant to pander to the fewest amount of people possible. Just look at the first page in the first issue and you see everything wrong with the book (including the author self insert who is literally a character)
Biggest problem is I really do like America conceptually, its just a shame that they got a terrible writer who had no interest in telling stories she was just interested in virtue signalling as much as possible
It’s actually terrible. I’m not even one who usually complains about woke shit in comics but Gabby Rivera is probably the most blatant forced industry plant in recent memory.
The artwork was fucking awful
Thats actually not even the worst part of the comic
>Believing IGN ratings.
Is there a word to properly describe this level of stupidity?
>What is perspective?
I've never read it, and I don't consider myself one of those retards who screams about "sjws ruining muh comics", but stuff I've seen other anons post from it like pic related just sucks.
Isn't this the one with that atrocious ad with the street level interviews about America being 'the future' and that hilarious panel where America and her lesbian girlfriend are flying into the foreground while Kate Bishop says a whole paragraph or two to herself about how wonderful lesbianism is and how she wishes she was a lesbian too?
I am all for woke shit and many of my favorite comics/cartoons are loaded with it but God damn does this one seem awkward as shit.
>ad
that's the FIRST PAGE
The fact that this dumpster fire was praised by critics and landed her a fucking TED talk just proves that the big two comics industry is a corrupt cesspool of cronyism and corporate shilling.
Not that this hasn’t been the case since before the “SJW” era, but still. It’s why I mostly just follow indie or smaller label comics these days.
Holy shit. It read so much like an advertisement when I saw it posted here that I just assumed.
I've read like two issues when they were dumped on here awhile back and it just seemed as bland and unoffensive as possible. Doesn't seem like you can have strong feelings about it one way or the other unless you have a horse in the culture war race
>I’m literally intrigued and in awe of both of them
>literally intrigued
Jesus Fucking Christ she writes like a middle schooler.
I remember this, what the fuck is that pose? Is she supposed to be handcuffed?
who gives F U C K about TED talks
It gets worse, there is one page where America says
>White is the absent of color
Well I don't care about TED talks but I do care about TED-Ed
Imagine becoming a lesbian expecting motorcycle courtship chases, missiles and explosions. The only thing exploding will be dishware when one of them will go apeshit during her menstrual cycle until next one does.
Nobody, that’s what I’m talking about. This was made just so a bunch of corporations and soulless LGBTQ allies could jerk each other off.
It's even worse in context.
Jesus Christ
Everything in that comic is shit.
Some people have the theory that the plan was having her tied but then someone in charge changed their mind and the result was that garbage of a panel.
Yeahm l. I think Gabbybqsked to have changed at the last minute because she thought her being tied up was oppressive and misogynisti. She still wanted her being kidnapped and held hostag she just wanted to do it in a way that wasn't problematic. She wanted to make crime unproblematic.
That awkward pose and baby leash was a comprise and the best they could come up with.
Honestly, it's worse than you can imagine. I only got acclaim because people are terrified of not looking woke to all the freaks out there.
How about the inter-dimensional university minority rap dance battle street gang?
As a latino that actually was looking forward to this comic because I like the concept of the character, as well as someone who liked, for the most part, the art (fuck the colorist though), this was a HUUUUUUUUUGE mess. It was amazing reading it every month with Yea Forums because every page, and sometimes every panel, had something wrong with it.
I can only hope they hire another lesbian latina writer to make a new book and completely disregard Gabby's run as a fever dream (except the grandma) because everything about it was incredibly stupid.
Gabby Rivera is just Chris-chan if he was a lesbian latina
wait
If he was a latina
She looks like my 14 year old autistic cousin and dresses like him too
Holy fuck Marvel editors are fucking useless
It's a kind of absurdity gone wrong that just leaves you scratching your head when it doesn't simply fade into banality. There are also some really weird characterization choices that make the MC look bad. For example:
>America starts the series with her girlfriend Lisa, which stems from Ultimates
>Lisa is a paramedic, a little older than America, and has an apartment and fully established life in NYC
>America asks Lisa to follow her as she attends college
>said college is in a pocket reality that contains nothing but the college
>America doesn't even have a dorm room at the college and is planning on squatting in a van
>she doesn't even have the van yet
>Lisa tells her she's not going to give up her life, home, and career to live in a van in the parking lot of a college that she's not attending in an alternate dimension that she can't enter or leave by herself
>also America is a flying, dimension hopping teleporter so it wouldn't even be that much of a long-distance relationship if she didn't go
>America accuses her of pre-emptive ghosting, immediately bails on Lisa, then makes no attempt to contact her for the rest of the series
>a couple issues later America starts a long-distance relationship with an OC character
>at no point in the rest of the series is there any reflection on her behavior
It's stereotyping latinas as violent. And the author clearly was trying to make a mary sue character. Made it extra annoying instead.
>she
I'd keep Zu along with Madrimar. Surprisingly clutch for a 12yo fangirl. Though personally I'd want a writer who can do the fever dream, or double down on it, while still telling an entertaining story. Superpowered space lesbian Buckaroo Banzai.
That's because her girlfriend was white and therefore had privilege which she was unwilling to set aside to make America happy.
Yes but it was also a fun comic that an user from Yea Forums managed to troll really good. I don't miss it though.
Is she wearing a baby harness? Should Moongirl be watching that?
>So let me give her a little of this brown fist!
Hahahahaha
Isn’t there a Tool song about that?
Brown Fist>Iron Fist
Could you explain conceptually what you see in America? Even in her other appearances like the Ultimates she just seemed there to fill a quota or plot point.
I kind of want to give her points for not just dead parents/teen issues like Sideways did. .
Yeah, the dialogue is disjointed, the plots are meandering and go absolutely nowhere, the humor is departed from the concept of humor, and the agenda pushing is as obvious and a punch to the face.
I swear Asisz is doing something very odd when she hires these people.
The story is nonsense and events make no sense if you give them literally any thought.
The characters are shallow checklists.
The writing is clumsy and first-draft tier.
The art was basic.
The page layouts were first-year-student tier.
The awkward "empowerment" bullshit is so smug and self-satisfied and so very forced.
But the worst is that with all of this shit, all the hallmarks of a truly terrible book, people gave it praise to wave the flag of "so progressive", and it was so pleased with itself. The fact that it exists just drags the standards ever lower, and makes this shit closer and closer to the new norm for comics.
For people who love the art of creating comics and the love and vision put into some, this was a fuckin' hate crime on paper.
How clearly they just, like, took an existing image of Moon Girl and just shrank it down and photoshopped it in there.
>stupid crooked hat that doesn't fit
>lip piercing and basic bitch tattoos
>little notch shaved into eyebrow
Jesus this ham galaxy is just wearing culture like a mask.
Does she eat her critics?
It's like the Emperor's New clothes tale; everyone knows it's awful, but they don't want to seem like bigots by pointing it out.
>I really do like America conceptually
user, her entire concept is in line with how she's been written in every single apperance.
It's fucking awful.
Best part? Disney and Marvel are trying to push her as the first latina representation in the MCU.
Oh my god I hope they do that.
The latin community is unbelievably homphobic, shit heavily on the homo pandering and are full on family values and the like.
They'll burn down the theatres and swear a blood oath to never see another mcu move again.
Ah yes, that plot went absolutely fucking nowhere.
There is a line where the protagonist is fighting someone with light based powers, someone say something about Pure White energy and she replies with the line “White is just the absence of Color!” I mean, that alone should tell you not to spend any money on this book if you plan on reading it just to find out how bad it is
Is there a review where the reviewer says he agrees with the politics, but the polemical style is too didactic and lazy, so the product is bad even if the politics are good?
Not talking about America or even comics in general. I feel(as a progressive myself!) that progressive reviewers are incapable of giving a bad review if they agree with the politics.
>That awkward pose and baby leash was a comprise and the best they could come up with.
Ironic since thats so much more oppressive and mysogonistic. She doesn't get to be restrained like a possible threat, not even considered like a child. Thry are treating her like a baby, a literal baby.
Daily reminder that TEDx has nothing to do with TED
>Is this comic as bad as Yea Forums makes it out to be?
Of course not.
It's far, far worse.
What politics? White guilt?
>nobody has posted the fan letter yet that called America "The Room" of comics and the editors thanked them for it
why would you write this
I collect her 1st ap whenever I can, she could benefit a lot from an old school style of comic book. Big yellow boxes of narration, thought bubbles and maybe even a campy sort of monster-of-the-week vibe. I think there would be a lot of desire to read a silver age era type comic with a completely new face that breaks the norm of what people are currently expecting from comics.
Her biggest problem is that her solo series was written by someone who doesn't write comic books. Which has been a problem that marvel has had lately. They all inevitably turn it into fanfiction that destroys the appeal. Everybody puts a little bit of themselves into the comics they read, but there is no room for the reader when an inexperienced writer puts too much of their own fantasies in the books.
Oh, it's bad. Calexit bad
yep
There is no editors at Marvel. Just fat old guys checking their twitter and a culutral enrichmenr advisor trying to see how they can be more progressive.
she got a big-boy TED, which you still shouldn't give a fuck about
>that nose ring and mouth in the bottom panel
>he's never looked in the storytime threads
>Marvel are trying to push her as the first latina representation in the MCU.
I would rather have Aracely/Hummingbird representing us than the lesbian version of Scrappy Doo.
It's bad enough that it makes me look back on Girls fondly.
that one time Yea Forums wrote to marvel and got published.
ChicANOs must be stopped now
lol imagine a FUCKING WHITE MALE trying to edit this. He'd be fired for racism and sexism in 2 seconds. Honk honk!
>okay so we need the hostage restrained at this point
>no wait don't tie her up that's sexist
>I know the art is done just erase the ropes
>wait she needs to be restrained so she doesn't look like she's just resting in bed
>put her in a baby harness
>oh and make her raise one of her fists in the air like she's protesting the patriarchy
Not defending America but that's just typical of the way comic book writing is done. New writer doesn't want to deal with the old writer's baggage so they just find ways to retcon or surgically remove whatever it is they don't like. Sometimes it's done elegantly, sometimes you get America.
>Jaime Hernandez was supposed to draw an origin story
>he never did
>Marvel still uses his name to advertise the second trade paperback on Amazon
No fucking way. How did mentioning The Room not tip them off?
they probably weren't getting too much mail anyway
We need more Proctologist supers, they’re an extremely misrepresented demographic.
user wrote it really cleverly. It's a masterpiece of thinly veiled insults if you know what you're looking for.
>Okay now just relax and
>OH GOD I KILLED ANOTHER ONE DAMN THESE ALMIGHTY FINGERS OF MINE
>Implying you would change a thing of this if you were an editor
Nobody is going to this for good writing, enjoy the absurdity and hope you can clickbait people into looking into it.
Maybe that one raised arm was supposed to be her handcuffed to the bed?
>Take a car that is on fire to a mechanic
>Tell him to fix it
So that's what happened to Elmo in the dark timline... his eyes fell off.
jesus christ
A particular vice of mine is reading a lot of fanfiction.
I can say unequivocally and without hesitation that most fanfiction writers could do better.
>Most websites gave it good reviews and it won awards.
How do you still trust online reviews in [current year]?
The incels were pretty bent out of shape over it. Of course they spend most of the time sucking their own dicks, so they are used to it.
I legit cannot stop seeing a brown Ernie with a tween haircut in battle armor now, especially because of that ear. Thank you for that.
>when you're awesome at drawing cars
we can't all be Sean Murphy
Who's the author that wrote this? I need to find out if they have a Twitter and ask them if they failed high school physics
Almost all of Marvel's books have awful art.
Does your autistic cousin do fortnite dances?
It can't be any worse than the autist drawing Silver Surfer: Black.
Who's that supposed to be?
his ability to draw cars is half the reason that artist is working for Marvel
Yeah, but they only have to draw 5 or 6 issues before it's cancelled anyway.
Cates is Marvel's new golden boy, it'll run as long as he wants it to
Yawn!!
odd response
In this house we call her the Potato Knish.
It's alright, Bert, Thanos got him.
I was hoping this would get a mention. I'll be laughing for the rest of the night.
fucking The Room holy shit snigger snigger snigger
It is basically "So bad it is good", like it is bad but you end up laughing at it because of how brazen it is with the brownie point chasing at cost over coherency. Like, it is bad , but i would rather read it then most other "current" capeshit since it is easy to laugh AT. I mean, i think the pages posted in this thread speak for themselves at this point really.
It’s night and day the difference between the artist’s work here and in Dial H.
decent colorist and inker are worth a lot
twitter.com
If there isn't more proof that he's a hack
I'm pretty sure it's a mini.
That's kind of nitpick considering how bad everything else in this thread is.
It's Chris-chan tier.
The writer is more interesting than the comic.
A sad and lonely woman who masks her self-loathing in identity politics who retreats into a schizophrenic fantasy world, covered up with bright colors but transparently as ugly and decayed as her own diseased psyche and empty life.
But I'm just guessing here.
really a big one-two punch there
>it won awards.
They give out Eisners to people Will Eisner would have shredded in his class.
HOLY FUCK
SHE'S LITERALLY FEMALE BENDIS
Holy fuck.
I knew it would be cringe, but I was not prepared for these levels.
>it won awards
When you pander to Californian socialist gay worshippers you win many awards.
But what about Viking Tales?
>IGN
There is your problem.
Holy fuck.
They printed that? It compares the comic to The Room and they thought that was positive?
These people are more retarded than I imagined.
>i don't like this comic about pirates, there's too much water
You're describing a white woman. Gabby isn't white. She's Nuyorican. She's full of that infamous misguided, undeserved Puerto Rican pride. The kind of pride that makes other Hispanics and Latinos shake their heads and close their windows in order to reduce the loudness of the Reggaeton music blasting next door.
Gabby is in full commitment to her beliefs. It's not a front for self-loathing. She is LEGIT retarded.
>Nuyorican
What's that, an alien race?
She's a white person with a tan.
>initial conflict of the story being the distance between Chavez and her girlfriend
>Chavez can literally teleport anywhere she wants
>Most websites gave it good reviews and it won awards.
Yes, those are all meaningless now.
>Gabby said Trump was gonna ship all the Puerto Ricans back to where they come from
>Puerto Rico
God she's an idiot. She can't actually speak Spanish even and seems to weirdly resent people who do.
A lot of latin Yea Forumsmrades destroyed Gabby's writing style as being completely out of touch with their culture and typical of a NY who never set foot in Puerto Rico but flaunts it for social advantage.
>What's that, an alien race?
It's the Puerto Rican equivalent of being a Plastic Paddy.
Trump really is that retarded, though.
So is Gabby though. Who didn't seem to understand what Puerto Rico actually is.
Are those the Mindless Ones? Pan-dimensional berzerkers strong enough to throw cars with Scott Sommers vision?
>I can only hope they hire another lesbian latina writer to make a new book
Why? You don't need to be the same gender and orientation of the character you're writing. That's nonsense. You just need to be able to do the due diligence and research to write the things you want to write. That's the part that requires actual skill and merit to accomplish.
a match made in heaven, really
they probably didn't get a lot of positive mail from fans. The print runs on America were always terrible.
Marvel was hijacked by SJW's and they were able to convince the moneybags within the company that there were these thousands of secret fans waiting in the wings for a comic book to finally come out that reflected *them*. All marvel had to do was publish their SJW garbage and they would burst out of the woodwork to gobble up these new heroes.
This never happened, they received some good boy points from the blogosphere, but at the end of the day they were publishing a comic that couldn't stay afloat financially.
That's ELEMENTARY SCHOOL science, even.
... In Italy at least.
Comic journalism is useless. Average user score on ComicBookRoundup is 2.6/10
>Marvel was hijacked by SJW's
More like Marvel welcomed SJWs with open arms. They specifically sought out Sana Amanat as the "Director of Content and Character Development." Amanat didnt apply for the job. She didn't get the job through nepotism. Marvel went out of their way to find her and bestow the job upon her. They did the same thing with Gabby. They saw her YA book, found her through social media, and offered her work on-the-spot.
I think she thought he was talking about the Brie Larson film Room and considering the context of the comic it makes sense why she'd think that, which makes it even funnier in retrospect.
Marvel is just desperate. It's the same old same old when marvel tries to get on board the newest trends.
Bu-but that fucking wrong this makes me more angry than it should
>Shulk goes to Proctologist Man’s office
>”We’ll have to take your temperature, please bend over”
>*she bends over*
>”Doctor, that’s not my anus!”
>”Well that’s not my thermometer!”
They do the horizontal monster mash
>She didn't get the job through nepotism.
I thought she had an Uncle who was connected?
It's always great when you get to post this image.
I guess IGN gets their review scores by rolling 2d10, one die for score and one for decimal.
Man, i really feel like playing imagine party babyz now!
It's literally a 5 issue mini
Filtered by CHAD Moore
then apparently he wants it to run 5 issues
Professional reviewers are literally the most useless people around right now. They're almost all paid shills, faggots too scared to post what they might actually think about certain "approved" products for fear of social ostracization or contrarians who just want to troll.
Anyway America is definitely one of the worst comics I've ever read. It's absolutely abysmal in every single facet a comic can be: terrible art, terrible writing, characters and narrative threads that make no sense from issue to issue or even page to page. The only thing that stops it from approaching the absolute bottom of the barrel (i.e. Civil War II) is that it's hilarious in how batshit it is, the author's open (but approved!) racism, etc.
America was just obnoxious in this book and it sucks because her power set is quite interesting.
More like Shemale Hulk.
Continue.
Her racism is weird because she's slightly brown with nothing from her own fucking heritage.
America (vol.1, 2017-2018) is a brave, political comic, tackling complex social issues.
Took you long enough.
God I don't think I've ever actually sat down and read the Godhand side. The points REEK of subjective dislike.
Is this....did Marvel not have editors...?
Marvel hasn't had editors in years.
I look at her and I'm reminded of a guy named Javi from my old Boy Scout troop.
We went caving one time and he came out the other end without his pants.
He made the decision to wear thin cargo shorts instead of denim.
The best part of this relationship is that America broke up with her previous girlfriend for the most retarded reason imaginable: ex-gf didn't want to maintain a long distance relationship while America (a fucking interdimensional teleporter whose primary superpower is making portals that can go anywhere) was away at college.
Gabby couldn't have been more transparent about wanting to ditch the evil whitey for a more diverse girlfriend lol
Oh please, Marvel has Editors, they just don't do their supposed job, don't downplay it because the fact they waste resources on lazy/bad/ineffectual ones is worse then having none at all.
>Marvel has Editors, they just don't do their supposed job
So they might as well not exist.
user look at the exhaust of the bike, that image is clearly shopped
Those sunglasses seem impractical.
The new Ghost Rider was such a slick comic. I think of it as kind of the 'anti-America' since it's really good, and doesn't shoehorn in the PoC shit.
abhorrent post
By no editors, I mean that Perelman gutted the editorial staff back in '11, I think it was. And unless something's changed that I don't know about (totally possible because I don't really pay attention anymore) editorial's been a skeleton crew ever since.
>Ghost Rider but in a car!
Stupidest fucking thing
more or less stupid than Ghost Rider but in a big rig
Not quite, my point is them not existing would probably be BETTER then what we have because as is resources are being wasted to keep them hired to a frequently negative effect.
I mean, nothing against them personally, people gotta eat and all, and the job isn't exactly working the Mines, i mean i know from experience editing is more work then people think too and thankless as fuck but there is a point where half-assed jobs just reflects poorly on everyone involved, and that is Marvel right now.
Yeah, but the skeleton crew still exists and it isn't like we don't know it, I mean i think the Milkshake Drama was dumb on all levels, but it happened.
?Zee walks up to you in a public place and slaps you on the ass "AY PAPITO, YOU GONNA BUY MI COMIC OR WHAT? IT IS VERY IMPORTANTE TO MI GENTE", then zoo flashes a Brazilian flag, so you KNOW zim's a latino with STYLE.
>You try to escape, but the power of zop's social justice stops you in your tracks- you WILL learn to love America Chavez, America's next big icon. Captain America? He's a fucking white male!
>it's so bad it's good
Said no one ever until your gross post. It is genuinely the shittiest fucking thing ever, even Whor somehow seems like pottery in comparison. The only competition it has are the hellcat and squirrel girl abortions that were running around the same time.
Aracely is cute but for some reason Spiderman sucks and never gets into spiderman comics, so Kaine will never be a relevant plot point ever and so no Scarlet Spider and no Aracely
>Kaine is like a 31 year old hanging out with 15 year olds
all my lel
>first spic in the MCU
>not a team up between Spiderkid and Spiderman 2099 where Spiderman the kid learns about how he's basically a legend 80 years in the future
For what purpose
>Implying cars have things under them
Axles and driveshafts and diffs and things are just misogynist social constructs
>ghost rider doesn't need to dimension hop to find other ghost riders
spiderfag btfo
there's like 10 Spider-People on 616, though
>Is this comic as bad as Yea Forums makes it out to be?
Someone post Yea Forums's letter to the editor.
What? There are like seven other spider-people on 616 that are not from other dimensions.
Nevermind.
I spend a good five minutes trying to figure out what the fuck it is
The funniest thing about that letter is the "if you're not a hugger it's okay not to be" part. When did we reach the point where we even have to give people personal space in text?
it's every bit as bad as Yea Forums says.
Segway Ghost Rider begs to differ and hoverboard Ghost Rider bursts into flames even when not using his powers.
To this day I still wonder if user was very lucky, if they just get so few letters, or if they were big big fans of The Room.
My post made an error- I meant to say "latinx" instead of "Latino". That was very much an accidental microaggression on my part, I apologize to all the latinxs who read it and now have PTSD as a result.
Fuck it, give me a job Marvel I can't do any worse than this dipshit. I even got a Punisher story called Crisis on Infinite Franks i've been working on.
This is her one tweet I'll always remember. I saw a screenshot of it posted here first and I legitimately couldn't believe it was real.
>Well howdy there neighbor
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>Darn fine day isn't it
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HELP ME NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Normally I think the whole "judging white men as naturally evil just on the basis of their existence as one" is a crock of shit and Yea Forums's being paranoid as hell about it, but jesus. No wonder shit like the whole Portland rally eventually happens.
Honestly feel bad for her, this is schizophrenia-tier.
Didn't she make up some shit about being saved from an evil white man on a train by a lesbian who called her beautiful or something
To be fair she's an extreme caricature of what /pol/ thinks the "left-wing establishment" is like. Nobody on her level of craziness ever achieves success or power beyond a shitty comic that gets canceled after a few months.
Well she hasn't worked in comics since then so something must be working out.
The next book America showed up in they gave her yet another girlfriend without even referencing the one before that. You don't HAVE to write a convoluted way to get rid of her white girlfriend to replace her with a black one because you're racist. Just do it. No one cares about this character.
>Crisis on Infinite Franks
Greentext that shit
it's just political propaganda
like a chick tract, except instead of promoting Christianity it promotes identity politics
>The artwork was fucking awful
Curiously when Disney took over Marvel comics the quality of art dropped dramatically
Comic Rule # 1, Always show beautiful hot women
But this does not apply to NU-Marvel
For this alone, America Chavez will forever live in the hearts of Yea Forums.
NU-Marvel comics doesn't hire proper artists anymore, nowadays they hire from Tumblr and Deviantart because its much cheaper and the dumb SJW cunts believe exposure alone can pay their rents.
>Curiously when Disney took over Marvel comics the quality of art dropped dramatically
No it didn't.
Marvel always puts new artists on shitty books they don't care about. You just sorta forget.
Go look at books like new Mutants V2 that lasted far longer than many of the teen books they shit out now. It went through artists rapid fire. A lot of those artists now though? Better, to great even.
This panel is way worse now that I noticed she's saying all of this out loud and not just thinking it.
You can fuck right off and die in a fire you uncultured swine!!!
Most of the people reviewing the comic are friends with the creators.
SpiderMan is a shitty book nobody cares about?
This is the best critique of the book I’ve seen so far. It’s not “WOKE BAD REEE” it really is so in love with how progressive and Latino it is that it forsakes narrative or giving said progressiveness any substance to make you care.
Marvel slashed page rates a few years ago and not just for new hires but they asked established veteran artists to take a severe cut in pay which is why lifers like Romita went to DC and others just live off commission work.
Wow, she is clearly kinda fucked up in the head.
This pretty much. The script of the whole comic is basically a self-conglatury tumblr blog post. It has no real story beyond that.
>white is the absence of color so let me hit her with this brown fist.
I can only imagine how absolutely based it’d be if she lost this fight because white is literally all the colors.
Its obvious that she was originally drawn with her arms apart over her head in a more traditional tied on a bed pose. But no, that would be problematic
post the aliens
>America punched Hitler on a battlefield
And then what?
Did she end WWII?
Was it a double of Hitler?
An Arnim Zola Clone?
Did she capture Hitler?
Did she kill Hitler?
Did she NOT know who Captain America was?
Was this a parallel earth?
Didn't this change history?
Why didn't it change history?
Why was Hitler on a battlefield?
Short mask/kite Shield cap was active before America formally entered the war, what was he doing there?
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SHE FUCKING HIT HIM???
>Curiously when Disney took over Marvel comics the quality of art dropped dramatically
That is a lie. The New Mutants run from Morison got fucked by shitty artist.
stop being so sexist user
Is this page supposed to be evidence of
>new = bad

>old = good
Because I'd put that on the good side, I mean Captain marvel is totally a dude here but aside from that they are all pretty decent looking from a style perspective and there are no issues with the art quality at all.
Oh no poor Hitler! Attacked for no reason! Now SWJs have gone TOO FAR.
I don't think you get it. Gabby wrote that because she unironically hates white people. It's all over her social media, it's all over the book. I don't mean she hates them in a "oh, she said a bad thing once" way but in a way that indicates a truly racist hatred of whites. She goes on about that shit on social media of course but even in the book there's precisely one (1; uno) white character portrayed positively and that's only because she's an SJW darling and her role is little more than gushing about how great America and her walking shitpile girlfriend bulldyke girlfriend are.
Every single other white character in the series is portrayed as unrepentantly evil and of exceedingly low IQ; existing only to bring down the noble brown and black (but mostly brown) people and oppress them under their bigoted slaveowning thumbs. The only other white character not portrayed as evil is America's ex-girlfriend who's instead portrayed as a selfish bitch because America demanded she drop her promising career as a paramedic to live in a van with her while she attends college because a long distance relationship wouldn't work (even though America can create portals that allow her to teleport anywhere including across dimensions).
Overrated book carried entirely by the art. There's a reason all interest in it died the second Moore left.
>Most websites gave it good reviews and it won awards.
How new are you?
I like to think at that moment America jumped into the MCU during Cap's victory bond drives. That poor, poor actor.
>I don't consider myself one of those retards who screams about "sjws ruining muh comics
How can you call those people retarded when you just posted smoking gun evidence of social justice ruining comics?
She's actually mental.
retard
It's worse than that. Moon Girl was drawn separately and then resized and copy-pasted onto the rest of the page. Look at how different her image quality is and the outline around her separating her from the rest of the background.
The outline's the dead giveaway, you see it a lot in manga when the characters and backgrounds are drawn separately. Of course it makes sense there because usually it's an assistant drawing the background and it's all drawn in relation to the character instead of, well, that which was all done by one person (well two/three depending on who inked and colored; that is some garbage coloring by the way).
It's funnier to me that every other Author has Juggernaut Job to their main character but America gets yeeted. Shows how bad of a writer she was.
I kid.
I mean just looking at the art style of each girl you've got, in order.
>Hinata
>White Jinx (from LoL)
>Muscle/Toned green girl in latex
>Naked blue space thing
>A dude
and
>baby-faced red-head
I'd fuck all but the dude.
It's the tweet equivalent of a niggerwalk comic.
Was America ever your comic?
Has Gabby been writing comics since then?
Comics have always had garbage books that last a short time and fuck off. America's even been in good books. Marvel's rapid fire shitting out books like Manga to see what sticks.
Fucking reggaeton.
I think a lot of that is just plain on the shitty inking and coloring.since Keron Grant's a perfectly fine artist (if definitely in the late '90s/early 2000s anime mold; I mean he did PSM covers). There's three inkers listed for that issue of New Mutants which isn't good and the coloring is straight ass.
Marvel has some of the worst colorists around. They're by and large terrible and ruin almost every book they work on.
I'm just popping in randomly to say I'm disappointed I've never seen fat/BBW fan art of America.
Broke Back Mountain won awards too and the Batman movies were snubbed, but not because their merits.
Brokeback Mountain was good though
>Normally I think the whole "judging white men as naturally evil just on the basis of their existence as one" is a crock of shit and Yea Forums's being paranoid as hell about it, but jesus.
Bro it's everywhere if you know where to look for it. Gabby isn't unique. Especially not anymore.
>To be fair she's an extreme caricature of what /pol/ thinks the "left-wing establishment" is like.
>Nobody on her level of craziness ever achieves success or power beyond a shitty comic that gets canceled after a few months.
I disagree. Gabby is to Social Justice as Radical Muslims are to Islam. There a ton of radical feminists and SJW's in different parts of several industries acting this way, and just like their Islamic counterparts, they are supported both covertly and overtly by moderate feminists SJW's. Women like Kathleen Kennedy may not be as crazy and vocally anti-white, but the same revolutionary rhetoric and ideology is at the root of her decision making process.
No fucking way, that's some next level retardation. Do you have a link of where she said that?
the thing that user waa getting at was that white isnt the absence of color, its all colors
I've seen a lot of dudes that idolize the 80s/90s comics that whine that any coloring that isn't saturated flats is gay. That artist had done just one other comic mini series before this one so he probably hadn't gotten his shit together about how bad the deadlines are.
Like many artists he's really good at illustrations but his comics dump in quality because time.
And no he doesn't have a tumblr. twitter.com
>Was America ever your comic?
No, that isn't the point. "Muh comics" isn't a literal term.
>Has Gabby been writing comics since then?
This is bigger than Gabby and America. It's just a good example because it's egregious enough to be stereotypical. My point is that there's extremely clear evidence of social justice themes and rhetoric being promoted in comics. To insult the people who notice or complain about this, when even Marvel has officially acknowledged that titles with heavy diversity and feminist pandering were unpopular and sold poorly, is ridiculous.
Unrelated but does anyone write fan letters? I got one into Spider-Man City at War, and recently sent a letter to Immortal Hulk. It's kind of neat I suppose
I wonder if anybody got fired over that.
I do understand and yes this comic is shit, but there's always been social justice in comics. The problem is when people are BAD at it.
Bendis has been writing comics for decades and he shit the bed with Riri, but surprisingly Eve Ewing, who many people were afraid would be worse, is actually doing a good job. By every indication of her as a person you'd think she'd be worse than Gabby but she managed to not be as retarded. Too bad no one really gives a shit.
Thing is we're at a point where creating and getting your work out is incredibly easy. We can make webcomics. We can crowdfund and self publish. We can make our own companies and be successful without having to work for a publisher. Talent is harder and harder to find when they know they can work for themselves, have their own timelines, and get all the praise and rights. Marvel has to get new talent. They cannot go back to the same creators forever and they can't accept scripts because they could be accused of theft so they just have to let writers try.
Most if not all of the worst books people can point at of the last 10 years none of those creators work for Marvel anymore. DC's picked up a few but for the most part the really bad ones. America, Mockingbird, Hellcat. Their comics all lasted 12 issues or less and never did a marvel comic again. So the market seems to be working.
And as much as I hate the Squirrel Girl comic (mostly for the art, which did change) Little kids seem to think that shit is gold.
>but there's always been social justice in comics
That's fair, though of course it depends on the comics. Superman prompting Truth, Justice, and the American Way™? Fine. X-Men standing in for racism/homophobia? Sure, why not. Not all comics have a social message component, of course, but plenty have, to greater or lesser degrees, and it's been that way since the beginning.
Sometimes the social component is as complex as that one page that says WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS. Worked for vidja back in the day.
There's nothing wrong with social justice in comics, the bigger problem is shitty writers.
Why tf is she in a sleeping pose after being sent flying through the air?
>My point is that there's extremely clear evidence of social justice themes and rhetoric being promoted in comics
Can you name any besides America Chavez and myfeministagendatshirt?
You know that wasn't from Spider-man, right?
Are you completely fucking retarded?
Frazer Irving isn't a bad artist, he's just stylized to hell.
>when Disney took over quality dropped
True of anything Mouse related ever
I'm aware of that. But that line was included, regardless of what it actually means, because Gabby hates white people in addition to being a stupid fucking idiot.
Alt Right Captain America, Falcon as the "new" "real" Captain America, hispanic female future Captain America
Kamala Khan
Everything related to Carol Danvers
Fem Thor
The "Love is Love" thing
That one Wonder Woman mini series
Gay Ice Man
Everything to do with D*sney's "Star Wars"
Just off the top of my head. Not a value judgment, but a list of things that are clearly toeing the party line.
>America crudely drawn over the closing shot of Superman The Movie
Disgusting
read this with my sister. her reaction was "wtf!? there are people who actually think this is good?"
You forgot
>spider-nigger
>wolverine with tits
>the incredible chink
>batgirl with dumb tranny shit
>plus racemixing
But I'm certain the cuck you're reaponding to will find something else to blame about why nobody wants to read their "woke" shit.
Probably a horribke tracing job.
I'm also wondering why there's zero fucking shading on anything besides Jugs.
>batgirl with dumb tranny shit
What?
>Alt Right Captain America
When was this?
when Gail Simone's Batgirl started Babs roommate was a trans woman and she stayed in the supporting cast
i would guess they're talking about Secret Empire
He pretty clearly means Hydra Supreme Cap.
>There's nothing wrong with social justice in comics
Objectively false.
> the bigger problem is shitty writers.
True.
This. Seriously, read the reviews. It's very similar to the reviews of the New Ghostbusters or New Ocean's that pretty much has critics praising the actresses for who they are (females and ethnic minorities) rather than their actual ability or the movie itself for featuring said mentioned categories. Or how people try to pretend Rey is a deep, complex in Star Wars and how her lack of character and flaws somehow makes her more popular, not less.
>Objectively false.
No, you're the one who is objectively false. Memes have rotted your brain.
No, no, they even undercut her powers to ratchet up the college drama. There's a bit where she breaks up with a girlfriend because she wouldn't travel to be with America, and then she just casually kicks open a portal to her school...And leaves, and shuts it. Like the most basic use of her powers undercuts all the drama, and then the author just...Used it, as if to demonstrate that she knows that long-distance relationships are no problem for someone that teleports. Then, later in the same book, SHE WINDS UP IN A LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE ELSE ANYWAY.
Also I'm made to understand that the book is largely a retelling of her novel but with what are vaguely Marvel characters.
I got published once in a Loki: Agent of Asgard issue, after that comic got me out of a really bad depressive funk and I wrote fanmail to thank them. It's kind of embarrassing to have shared that much, but, whatever.
I'm trans and woke and a bunch of other stuff you wouldn't like, but I also think crying openly at dinner with friends because a doctor misgendered you is a dumb overreaction.
If you want to talk about bad representation that was clearly done to fill a quota, talk about that. America was misguided and trash, but it's not like Gabby knew better, even if she really should have.
(also X-23 as Wolverine was good if only because it gave us Honey Badger)
cope
I would rather read Chick Tracts than most of what Marvel's new characters like Chavez or Riri has to offer. Aero is pretty much the only minority character I can tolerate and doesn't act like the writer is insulting my intelligence. At least Chick occasionally makes me laugh and we got the "They hated Jesus because he told them the truth" meme image from him.
>No, you're the one who is objectively false. Memes have rotted your brain.
Do you realize you literally just "NO U'd" me? You have to be over 18 to post here.
It is an observable fact that social justice agendas can and have been detrimental to comics, and every other medium in which they've been introduced. You would have to be either retarded or completely disingenuous to say that there is "nothing" wrong with it, in a thread discussing Gabby Rivera's AMERICA of all fucking things. I'll grant that shitty writers are part of the problem, but lack of talent on their part does not completely explain away the unpopularity of these titles and story lines.
>A particular vice of mine is reading a lot of fanfiction.
Working for Marvel and DC as a writer is pretty much just canon fanfiction writing at this point. Bendis (may he suffer) rectons the shit of everything he dislikes, even if it doesn't make any sense. The Symbiote's more heroic origin story is just one of the many terrible examples of his work.
Ah yes, because America exists that means all marvel comics are part of a conspiracy against you
You realize you're witch hunting, right? "Smoking gun evidence" outs how much of a mentally ill faggot you are.
Is this you?
Fuck off tranny
White light is all colors.
Do you understand the difference between facts and opinions at all?
I can understand if the editors/writers don't know The Room. I didn't know of the movie until 2017. But come on, these people didn't even bother Googling the movie or if they assumed they were mistaking it for another film, they can't tell obvious sarcasm? This C.O guy was blatantly trolling her. He even tells her he was laughing at every other thing the comic brings him and to people knows. How can you miss that?
>There's nothing wrong with social justice in comics, the bigger problem is shitty writers.
Wrong, retard.
Literally, the entire problem is SJWs.
SJWs are always shitty writers.
If the problem were "shitty writers" in general, then nuMarvel would also be shitting out terrible conservative comics, terrible libertarian comics, etc.
But since they're only shitting out terrible SJW comics, then the problem is clearly SJWs.
that's from Doctor Strange, Frazer Irving is great, and third thing
>Ah yes, because America exists that means all marvel comics are part of a conspiracy against you
That is the worst strawman I've ever seen.
>You realize you're witch hunting, right? "Smoking gun evidence" outs how much of a mentally ill faggot you are.
Noticing and commenting on patterns is witch hunting, and a using a phrase that's been a colloquialism for over a century makes me mentally ill. Wow tell me more.
Real talk for a second here:
Who the fuck do you think you're fooling?
Not even you believe what you're typing, and Yea Forums has been mocking "woke" SJW bullshit in comics far longer than you've been here.
oh god
Opinion: "There is nothing wrong with social justice in comics"
Fact: Marvel's VP of Sales specifically blamed a drop in sales on comics with a heavy focus on diversity and new female heroes like Riri Williams being unpopular with fans.
Retard building a strawman.
If I remember correctly, immediately after punching Hitler, around six nazi officers show up and carry him away like bouncers at a club. Then Captain America berates America for ruining a two month long operation to isolate and kill Hitler, ending the war early and saving countless lives. America responds with 'so what, I punched Hitler, is that not good enough' and is then taken to an underground bunker with a time machine so she can go back to her own time, before Captain America can arrest and trial her for treason.
also Peggy Carter is there for some reason and is totally cool with America ruining the op
I refuse to believe that anything you just said is real.
It literally happens in the second issue.
In the first issue, she breaks up with her girlfriend for not wanting to be in a "long distance relationship" with a person who can literally teleport.
he left out that Peggy Carter was there in a secret bunker literally like five feet away
Well fuck me.
>Then Captain America berates America for ruining a two month long operation to isolate and kill Hitler, ending the war early and saving countless lives. America responds with 'so what, I punched Hitler, is that not good enough'
Between this and I have a hard time believing that Gabby wasn't a brilliant troll playing a long con. The scene you're describing in particular is a metaphor for everything wrong with the modern social justice movement in a nutshell:
A queer, time traveling, woman of color completely oblivious to the wider consequences her use of violence has on the world around her. But it's ok because punching a nazi made her feel good and powerful in the moment.
if her Twitter and that TED talk didn't exist I would call America one giant shitpost, but she 100% sincerely believes in everything and honestly thinks she is a good writer
>I have a hard time believing that Gabby wasn't a brilliant troll playing a long con.
Well, that's the massive fucking problem, innit?
It's not just Gabby.
There was literally an entire fucking team of people throughout the entire company that unironically read that shit, and said
>"Yes. This is acceptable. We will put our brand name on this."
And with the exception of Gabby, they all still work there.
Whenever anyone tries to lie to you and says that "marvel is fixed now", remember that.
>cope
I don't think anyone on this sight has ever said thsi unless they were losing an argument.
dilate
>dilate
sure thing. is SEETHE next?
It was a story about a beautiful Dominican lesbo that was being hit on by evil YT on a subway, and the super hot latinx shut that whiteboi down by saying she was attracted to Gabby, not him.
And then everyone clapped, Gabby was given $100 and that beautiful Dominican? Xe was Albert Einstein.
no, just dilate
you can seethe as you dilate, tho
I really wish Amanat would fuck off. I truly think the comics would improve a lot if she were gone because I'm guessing a lot of those writers/books were her decisions/suggestions.
Wait wait wait, someone modified that page. I mean, I don't even know that comic, just follow this thread out of interest, but why are the BAD GUYS depicted as pitch black, and not as shiny white?
People thought nuMarvel would be better when Bendis left, and it's just as awful as ever.
You can't pin it down to any single person; both DC and Marvel are completely fucked from every single angle. To fix anything, you would literally have to replace the entire staff.
>cope
>seethe
>dilate
Keep going bro I'm almost there
Why didn't one of the soldiers just shoot him? Why didn't cap throw his shield into Hitler's spine?
Why did Chavez just let him get away? You think she out of all people would have wanted to kill Hitler.
There's literally a dozen soldiers with rifles standing a few feet away from an injured Hitler, why don't any of them shoot him?
I don't fucking understand.
I just read the first couple of chapters, I refuse to suffer alone.
Is that weird thing in the bottom left supposed to be the author?
>I don't fucking understand.
America is like that
>The Cure AND MCR
what year does Gabby think it is
Yeah that was it. Christ how embarrassing.
I mean I understand it, the writer just wanted to make a nazi punching joke because she's a fan of political violence, and not actually make a story arc about killing Hitler. But why couldn't she have found a different way to do it? Chavez could have just like teleported into Hitler's house, punched him there, triggering an evacuation just before the Howling Commandos arrived or something. Instead the writer created a situation where everyone stands around berating her for ruining their plan to kill Hitler while Hitler is RIGHT FUCKING THERE!
Maybe it was just written to purposely make Cap and the US forces look juvenile and stupid in comparison to Chavez? I guess that could make sense but I'm not sure the writer put that much thought into it.
Okay, as a man who has had to involuntarily stay overnight in a psych ward, but is also empathetic, try to put yourself not in a logical mindset, or a military strategist mindset, but in a balls-to-the-wall crazy SJW mindset.
Whereas in actual war, where the goal is to murder the shit out of the other guy, SJWs have absolutely no concept of "war" beyond an ideological level.
This is displayed fairly clearly on that page, where literally "checkmating" the enemy by killing their leader doesn't even fucking matter; all that matters is destroying them ideologically, which, for some bizarre reason, they think they can do by keeping Hitler alive and shaming him by making him out to be a homosexual, or a cuck, or something.
That way, they would "destroy the nazi ideology", and win the war that way, instead of actually, y'know, fighting to win the war.
Given what we know of SJWs, they basically treat everything as an ideological war at the expense of quality, or basic common sense.
I remember, one of the early threads, I think it was about a preview, had this chorus of /pol/lacks complaining about the self insert, and some absolute madlad responded with a page of Dr. Doom ordering Stan and Jack to write him back into Fantastic Four.
user Cap and his troops are fucking white males. Of course they would be meanie doo doo heads to the brave wonderful heroic woman of colour
The fact that you think "/pol/" are the only ones who had a problem with that page means you should fuck off.
This doesn't make any sense.
the fact that the inking is so blatantly awful makes me think the editors never actually looked at the book at any point in the process
Come on, she literally teleports a fucking van in the next page but she broke up with her girlfriend because she wouldn't move with her.
You should be arrested for having this comic saved on your computer.
It just keeps getting worse.
She was white, user.
You shouldn't date white people.
That is literally the reason. She literally hooks up with a Woman of Color two or three issues later.
So is the entire comic just virtue signaling drama? Are there any non one dimensional characters with any depth, or anything of any interest?
she literally TELEPORTS OUT OF HER ROOM
I'm not saying it gets better.
But the first issue is the climax of everything wrong with Marvel.
The fact that they not only published it, but kept publishing it for another 7 issues is reason enough to boycott Marvel for the rest of your life.
What the fuck is this?
What the fuck is this?
Gabby only deals in width, not depth. Get it? Because she's fat.
I never noticed how comically tiny the housing building is
WHAT YEAR DOES GABBY THINK IT IS
What’s new about a woman and a man living together as roommates
>everything is nice and orderly, no garbage anywhere
>all of african culture/countries are filled to the brim with garbage and poor planning
She needs to stop co-opting white people culture.
>arrows
>but no bow
This one?
It's really hard to tell what exactly the worst part of America is, but personally, I would say the character designs.
I literally and unironically feel sorry for the artists who had to draw, ink, and color this abomination. They probably got into the comic industry thinking they'd work on Thor or Iron Man, got stuck with this shit, and now spend their days drinking whatever is left of their paychecks away while being closer to suicide than a tranny.
Current.
I wouldn't feel sorry for the inker and colorist, they're absolute dogshit
It's really fucking astounding that a huge bunch of the images used to shit on America come from the first issue.
well most people stopped reading it after that
>white is the combination of all color
>this makes it the most "inclusive" color
>like teasing sjw friends with this fact
>theyre genuinely upset with this
>Leelumultipass
How dare she touch something I like with her foul sausage fingers protruding from her hands of ham.
I don't even know what this is supposed to mean.
I forgot Rin Nakai was in this
And now she's in WWII, because of course she fucking is.
And Hitler is right fucking there.

Who the fuck thought that this person deserved to write a solo series on any character?
This shit reads like a 12 year old did it.
>Who the fuck thought that this person deserved to write a solo series on any character?
Marvel, considering they sought her out and offered her a job
I will say the covers were generally pretty good
Did they really?
"Let me give her a little of this brown fist!" just sounds wrong.
I don't even know where to begin with this page.
that boy aint right
Why?
this ran right up to the line of actually insightful political commentary then she makes a Beyonce references and we move on back to absolute nonsense
SJW bait aside this is some of the worst writing I have ever see in comics.
>white is the abscence of color.
We all knew Marvel editors were retarded but I didn't expect them to not know middle school physics
The part about the French Resistance being led by Peggy Carter is the most baffling. Like, from both a comics and historical perspectives, it doesn't work.
I doubt they actually read this
Is this all a big joke? Was this made to show the horrible state that Marvel is in?
>IGN
>IGN
>Good reviews
>journalist
pfffffffff
I can't remember if it was ever addressed how Peggy knew America was coming
And she just fucking teleports out of there, such a shame that she can't keep a long distance relationship.
Hey shithead, YOU CAN FUCKING TELEPORT.
>the fact that the inking is so blatantly awful makes me think the editors never actually looked at the book at any point in the process
How do you criticize the work of a person like this without xir immediately flipping out and accusing you of the standard litany of -isms? It was literally easier to smile, nod, and eat the multimillion dollar loss.
God what the fuck is this plot. She's done literally nothing.
God, why is she like this? Everything out of her mouth is so nonchalant and forced.
And can I also point out that those three nazis were also probably pulled into the modern day behind her. Like, they didn't just vanish. I mean, they did just vanish, because the story is shit, but logically, they should still be alive and kicking in 2019.
>The Department of Radicl Women and Intergalactic Indigenous Peoples at Sotomayor University
But there's nothing wrong with Social Justice in comics guys. You're a crazy retard if you think politics is related to this in any way.
>fighting Nazis
you literally sucker punched one Nazi and let him get away
I think I read "underage club hell" in the panda once.
And why is she calling them over-priviliged when she's going to the same school as them?
Ignore that fuck up
The inkers were men, that's how.
How is it possible to create a comic with not one single likeable character? I mean shit you'd think she'd make one endearing accidentally.
they don't actually go there and are actually evil robots
Just wait until they start to deny the physical reality and call you a Fact Nazi.
>Speedy Gonzales is racist
>But America Chavez speaking exactly like him is cool and good.
Fuck me rigid, it just doesn't stop.
A few years ago I'd have thought this post was absurd.
Not so much these days.
this is literally a supervillain origin speech
>shaming him by making him out to be a homosexual
America Chavez Rapes the Shit Out of Hitler would be one hell of a story arc.
>WW2 Germany
yeah but which battle?
If only you could use those powers to keep a relationship.
>it's easy to pick your BFF or the most popular kid, but we gotta be better
>America immediately chooses both
also that bitch literally has a multipass photoshopped onto her hat
Privilegoïds BTFO
What's really weird is that Zu is a genuinely helpful character at a couple of points in the story, but the comic really only treats her as an accessory to Imani, who does jack shit.
>Democratie based on IQ
hu ho
>yeah but which battle?
The one where Adolf Hitler casually walks around the trenches of an active war zone, obviously.
Dear fucking God.
>And why is she calling them over-priviliged when she's going to the same school as them?
Like "racist", "sexist", "fascist", etc., "privileged" is a word that self-styled radicals like Gabby use to sound smart and sophisticated while insulting people. In reality it just means "person I don't like", just like "reactionary", "counter revolutionary", or "heretic".
And everything is solved.
why the 5th element reference?
spider-verse type fix-upper when?
>why
no one knows
Words can't express the stupidity in this page, I just don't fucking know what anyone involved is thinking.
>hey do you guys get my S E L E N A references?
I seriously do not understand anything in this fucking comic so far. Every other page I have to go back to try and figure out what the fuck just happened. The art doesn't show any action whatsoever it's just people standing around talking and then talking about a thing that happened between panels. What the fuck even is this comic??
I can't tell if these are real people or not.
seriously that's just tan Rin Nakai
This was published. Trees died so this could be printed. Ink was wasted on this. Some poor bastards had to deliver boxes of these things. The boxes! Fucking boxes were wasted on this! All that cardboard... I think I'm going to be sick.
>What the fuck even is this comic??
America
And there's more!
Notice how every antagonist and target of violence is white, and almost all of them are blond. Stereotypes and judging people based on skin color is wrong, but white guys are obnoxious, self-absorbed, assholes who can't help but interrupt clearly more intelligent women of color, and deserve to be violently put in their place.
Last page was fucked up because it went over the limit, so I just opened paint and cut a chunk out of it.
I don't understand why they were trying to push America as this super badass latina when she's just an alien that culturally appropriated all the latino stuff. Weird considering that the type of people that write shit like this usually take that shit very seriously.
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but why did no one see the stupidity of their relationship ending when she can fucking teleport?
>usually take that shit very seriously.
They literally only care if its le ebul white mayne doing anything they think is from another culture
I mean... in terms of palettes shes not wrong.
This is the best page so far.
It's about as stupid as the rest of the comic
And of course, the only black person is the one that talks to America.
Just wait for the unironic "C.O." one.
>I know I'm beating a dead horse, but why did no one see the stupidity of their relationship ending when she can fucking teleport?
See Lots of people probably noticed, but didn't say anything because there's no politically correct way to criticize SJW auteurs. Remember, the reason the term "politically correct" exists is because sometimes even if something is factually correct, this comic being horrible and full of plot holes for example, you shouldn't be allowed to say or think it,
>My safe word is "thunderclap"
Where the fuck did that come from?
>the ancestral luchador mat
you could tell me this was a parody and i'd believe it.
>unironic
I know that's a bit of a meme word nowadays but come on
Why did she give you hope? Why is everyone going on about America being "hope"?
And the girlfriend is fine, because of course she is.
She gives me hope too!
Hope that she goes away!
a better writer on this book would say their comic book idol is Jaime Hernandez, and associating America with hope is their little nod to Hopey
>.did Marvel not have editors
It's an edit but no
They fired almost all of them years ago
Fuck me.
God fucking dammit.
>AY PAPITO, YOU GONNA BUY MI COMIC OR WHAT? IT IS VERY IMPORTANTE TO MI GENTE
>No, no voy a comprar el cómic que vos escribiste por que sinceramente creo que es muy malo, simplemente una persona que no es nacida o vivió en Latino América no puede escribir un personaje Latino. Otro punto, creo que mas de un Latino piensa que lo mejor que un cómic puede ser es divertido y no forzar personajes de diferentes culturas.
How she responds?
>How she responds?
"I don't know Spanish"
its a light based being, though
>Uh, y-you too ese
>this is looking ugly
no kidding
God damn it first time reading this. This is worse than I'd imagine. Fucking hell, the whole space mexico, the way America comes off as a stupid fucking jerk most of the time, the garvage woke aesthetic, the plot that has no fucking structure whatsoever, the fact that it's a caoe comic about going to college wtf, that author self insert that's literally the author but black, the art shifting every two pages, shit inking. I've seen webcomics with far better art on /hyw/. It's like literally sonichu tier garbage omg
This is perhaps the worse comic i've ever read, and i read sonichu.
It's like an LGBTQ comic except it look like an over the top bad taste parody made by an alt-right webcomic that was turned to life.
>the art shifting every two pages
you say that hyperbolically now but that literally starts happening later in the series
Why am I doing this to myself?
Of fucking course it gets worse, why would anything good ever happen?
later issues start having like six different pencillers, it's absurd
Dohohoho!
I mean like you see that the pencilling and inking changes every two pages, like in the same scene, characters are not drawn the same way, america's face changes styles a fucking lot. It's like you had some of the pages rushed by other artists. It's very professional
Has Gabby ever been to college? Sotomayor U seems like she just hangs around on the campus and doesn't know what most of the buildings are for
Fuck that shit this is now defacing MY culture, referencing one of the most important painting in my country's history. Fuck these idiots.
don't worry, the cover references just get more insulting as time goes on
>THE FUCKING DEMIURGE
I KNEW THIS WAS SHIT FOR A REASON, THE DEMIURGE IS BEHIND IT! THAT ASSHOLE
The revolving door of brown people with dyed hair makes this comic really disorienting, I can't tell which one is which and most of them are no name extras
I doubt it. I know nothing of american universities but this feel nothong like my experiences in french universities. And i was like in university where the male to female ratio was like 1 man for 20 girls.
Maybe it has something to do with white not being the absence of color, but I'm sure that it's a more retarded reason.
Tbh I wonder how actual latinos took in this whole comic. I feel like it's kinda insulting in some way. Miss marvel was bettee at showing pakistani stuff than america does with puertorican stuff.
As a latino, it's insulting on multiple levels.
Oh great, now there's two of them.
>you saw my portal, I'm not an illusion
>no I don't know why the thing wouldn't be able to create the illusion of a portal, don't worry about it
Sorry to hear that duderino :'(
I don' t even understand the plot so i guess it's not a problem anyway. I wonder if like the post America comic America tried to fix this whole mess. Because like, this is writing itself in a corner so removed from the marvel universe, how the fuck do they bring america back on earth from this whole mess of space mexico adventures.
And solved, just like everything in this comic.
Seriously what the fuck is going on.
This shit makes no fucking sense god damn it
It's just that you can tell that this was written by someone that doesn't actually know anything about the cultures that they're talking about.
Apparently all you need to do is make the character say a couple of words in Spanish, like real people totally do in real life, and have them talk about food or music.
And as it turned out, the person that was being bound by a baby harness was not actually a victim of kidnapping.
This is incomprehensibly bad. This is bad on every single level. This is bad incarnate, distilled in its purest form. This is the origin story of bad. I'm absolutely positive a deal was struck with some malevolent eldritch entity to spawn this into our world. This is an abomination. This is an affront to God. I cannot wrap my head around this tangled, impossible, bottomless manifestation of bad. I will go to bed drunk tonight and in the morning I will continue to drink until this has been purged from my memory. My sanity depends on it. Forgive me, Lord. Some things man was not meant to behold. I have stared into the abyss, and it has stared back. Amen.
the thing I remember the most from this series is all the spanish speakers complaining about how awful the spanish was, not as in bad dialogue but being written with a child's grasp of the language.
Maybe if you let the lady explain herself instead of being a cunt you might get some answers shithead.
The fucking girlfriend is using the portals now.
Christ give me strength.
Who the fuck thought that it was a good idea to make this character this much of a cunt?
More letters from people that actually exist.
I don't understand her power
I don't understand her personality
I don't understand her motives
I don't understand the story
Hell, I don't even understand the panneling.
she's a flying brick what can teleport across dimensions and also time travel now I guess
the rest...I got nothing
>power
punch
>personality
cunt
>motives
narcissism
>story
america is super special and always wins
>paneling
can't help you on that one buddy
I like the fact the issue was penciled by one dude except tge last two pages which are in a totally different art style. Gotta love these nondescript roofs.
Fucking hell that art. Webcomic tier art fucking hell
New thread Or you could do literally anything better with your time.
two pencillers this issue
>bad representation
This. These morons will accept anything, even horribly written minority characters. If you truly want good representation, you should be extra critical of how the minorities you want to see are written. You shouldn't be a blind consumer whenever some corporation has some poorly written token minority character.
That's horrifying. That awful white male just mansplained to her. She should have punched Captain America as well.
Are these assholes really shitting on Storm as just fetish material?
massive self loathe and hatred for us.
Jokes on you, I liked Water World.
You ballsy bitch!
X-23 wasn't made to be woke. She was made so wolverine fans could not feel bad about fapping to their fav character.
Samething with fem Lobo.
That girl is doing a headbutt with a visor on ... I don't think that works.
I still don't get how she returned to the second fight considering that KS to time travel the second fight didn't happen ...
She doesn't because she doesn't actually speak spanish
Yes I knew calling it Nu Marvel would eventually catch on. But yeah for Nu Marvel everything is just based of off who has the same ideology as them, meritocracy is out, and mediocrity is in.
That's because Gabby isn't Puerto Rican, she's Nuyorican and by all accounts didn't have much interaction with that culture as a kid.
