The Last Good Year

Was 2009 the last good year?

Attached: 2009-nostalgia-1000x754.jpg (1000x754, 364K)

>the same year where CN Real happened

when I was younger, I used to say the same thing about 1995

Many people think 2007.

No you nigger, time is meaningless for entertainment in the age of digital distribution, you can watch/read/play a unlimited amount of media for free now for the rest of your sad life with piracy, emulation and torrents. "But they will never make more of it" is a agenda pushed by your lack of social interaction, there is no need to make more media just to push the econimic wheel, there is already enough to fill a lifespawn of 200 years, media is not a fashion or a i-pod, if it was truly good one day will be good forever and be revisited any day. Publicity pushes media as a "identity" and brands as a personality, lies about works being a state of age and mind, but they aren't. Ghostbusters is not the 80's, Spongebob is not childhood, Nirvana is not the 90's, Mona Lisa is not the entirety of the Renaissance, they are time influenced structures that can be enjoyed with a little of research on historical context and nothing more

Media went to shit in 1999 when boybands and other bad stuff got popular, while society went to shit around 2006-7 when social media blew up

actually that was when everything hit rock bottom

The last good year was whenever you finally realized you weren’t a kid anymore

God no, and this year has been an upswing for entertainment in general.

The last good year will be 2020.

tidak kamu bodoh

based

And people younger than you have said the same about 1999, 2005, 2007, 2012, etc. being the last good years. All seems to be a matter of when your childhood died.

1997...

I remember 2009 being the worst year of my life so no.

Actually 2005 was the last good year zoomer bitch. 2009 was already too deep into the downfall shit era of Johnny test, CN Real, Bieber, Facebook smartphones, Web 2.0, Recession, iCarly, etc.

Well, I studied animation that year and got good at it. So it was a good year for me.

Reminder that Timbox (anytown show autist) keeps spamming these threads on Yea Forums and Yea Forums like "Was 2007-2014 the best era ever", "Was 2007-2014 the worst era ever", "1996-2001 the dark age of movies", "Was 2009 the last good year", "Will nostalgia end with the 90s".

I was still a 12 year old kid in 2009 and I thought that year was terrible

2003
It was the last year we had jobs, cash, and hope

Is he also the downfall into shit era guy

Oh shit you made me remember that was a thing back around 2012, lol.

It's funny, at the time of 2012-2013 people constantly whined about how terrible things were and how "le 90s" were better. But now in 2019 you've got zoomers wistfully missing 2012.

Everything didn't truly go to shit until around 2012. There were hiccups before it, but that was the year that felt like the world gave up on itself - all the progress it tried to make was dropped.

I feel like there was a bit of a cultural shift with the release of the original iPhone (2007).

>2004
What a coincidence that the year everyone said was when the main three kids' channels went to shit was the same year I turned 12.

To be fair those channels did go through a huge shift in 2004. That was when they got rid of all the 90s shows.

>that feeling when you liked all the things people shat on and now feel bitter they all of a sudden like it

2006 (or 2007 if you're being generous) is when things started to feel shitty. And 2010 is when all the progress like Youtube, Facebook and Twitter stopped feeling exciting and simply became a miserable part of everyday life. Anyone who thinks 2012 is anything other than pure cancer would have been under 13 back then

Well that doesn't stop zoomers from posting 2006-2012 nostalgia on social media

It was the last year Myspace was relevant and the last year before FB/Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit took over also the last year Yea Forums was more popular than Reddit(i think) so i kinda agree.

Wait, why is the OP a picture of 1982?

Is there a nostalgia market for the high school years, instead of just your childhood years?

No, Goodyear still exists and doesn’t show any signs of stopping

Teen culture from like 1998 onward is embarrassing trash that most people are ashamed to admit they were ever into.

No thanks to Clinton giving companies more control over their properties in 96.

Generally, people are most nostalgic for the years that occurred when they were between the ages of 6 and 10. Currently, Yea Forums is being swarmed by zoomers born in 2001 whose childhoods would have started declining once 2012 ended

>absolute peak 2003
Other than the whole Iraq war thing, it was great

>he thinks teen culture was ever not cringy

I don't have any particular nostalgia for the ages of 6-8.

When I was younger I heard people say it about 1968.

I remember 1977

What about it?

The only thing I remember is Star Wars.

this

No I didn't say I remembered 1977 (quite a bit before my time). I meant I remember people saying that was the last good year before it went to shit.

This. Have you enjoyed every single great book/movie/show/game/comic that ever existed? If you haven't, then try some of them instead of whining about how life sucks.

I've heard 1965, 1968, 75, 77, 1985, 1990, and so forth all called the last good year for music, pop culture, toys, sports, blah blah blah.

Star Wars
Punk rock
Carter becomes president
The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and KISS are the biggest bands in America
Disco is getting big but not as big as it will blow up into in 78
Girls all sporting Farrah Fawcett haircuts
GM starts making slightly smaller, less thirsty cars
Anita Bryant triggers /lgbt/
Roots is the biggest TV series of the year

The last good year was 2012.

Oh yeah totally. Just a part of growing up I suppose

OH disco. Man, to be there through that roller coaster. Truly such a feel that can never quite be captured again.

No, 2000 was.

2006 was the last year I remember being free from any looming responsibility and ignorant of most sociopolitical problems, so I'm going to say 2007 is when life's quality began to slip.

WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY

That is when all those 90s shows finally got rerun in Canada.

>wow things really went to shit after my developmental years ended
You aren't special, you're just getting old

Non-American here. Explain?

Just a lady who had the nerve to say she believed being gay was a sin.

>tfw I heard what he said

Strange, isn’t it.
