A plausible one, at least. The creators seem to have put some thought into how the biological quirks humans have would play out in interspecies contact. E.g. humans are big for land animals, and tall even for our size; nothing else in the animal kingdom remotely approaches human throwing ability; humans are extreme specialists in social manipulation. The modern species sapiens has never not used tools or been at the top of the local food chain. Humans have an anomalously long maturation time for our size. Most horses can produce offspring at three years of age, and even chimps and dolphins are adults at ten years. Ten-year-old Sprig is of age to court female frogs for marriage. Mid teens could plausibly be prime adulthood for toads, though Grime would have needed time to climb the ranks and establish a reputation.

The gem colors on the chest were blue, green and purple. Anne's eyes turn blue for a bit in the first episode I think, and it's clearly intentional. Sasha's either supposed to be a weird green or a coincidental error.
