Nah. Jhonen’s changed too much anyway, wouldn’t be the same.

user, he's the same as he's always been. ETF was great in all the ways the old episodes were great. If you think he's changed, you are most likely one of the people who misunderstood his work in the first place, which is part of the reason he constantly shits on his fanbase.

I hope so but with an animation studio that doesn't constantly shift animation style whenever there's a new scene.

Jhonen please get off Yea Forums for your own good.

Also with a art style that is actually disgusting and not look like it would be on a channel for 5 year olds

retarded autist

it would as a reboot isntead of a continuation

yeah but i want family adventures

I hope not. Zim fans were insufferable as teens. Imagine them now as adults.

>I have to ask: Any future stories for Invader Zim? And would you like to do more specials in the future?

Vasquez: I’ve been getting that all the time. I don’t know. Working on this movie, coming up with one story and then spending years on it, versus a few weeks and then you’re onto the next thing where you can change direction, take it somewhere else, I got incredible frustrated. I got very impatient. And so, of course, I was thinking it would be great to do this or that with Zim. Or how fun would it be to be able to tell this story? So, it’s in me to just make this stuff. And the logistics though, I don’t know.

I would love to work on other things. I’d love to be able to work with a greater range of emotions than what Zim lets me do. But, I would still definitely like to see these characters living and doing other stuff. But really, it all depends on what kind of arrangement would I be allowed. Maybe I’m just writing it and I’m writing it from my space station far away and I don’t have to be going in to a studio like I used to.

I’d love to be able to work on other stuff while keeping Zim alive. I don’t know. It’s a thing that comes up now and then. It used to come up a lot more during production. There was a lot of talk about bringing the show back but then those conversations just went away when there were changeovers at Nickelodeon. Everyone thinks that when the movie comes out, if it does well… I have no idea. I don’t know. I don’t know that I’ll know if it does well or not. Netflix doesn’t really… It’s got that whole mysterious “keeping the numbers secret” kind of thing. It will be interesting to see how people respond to it.

Why is everyone mixed on Gaz?

cuz she melowed out and not everyone likes that, Im fine with it

Because the people who watched the original show remember she had some of the most genuine emotional moments in the original (like how she desperately wanted to spend time with her dad) and this movie gave her some more of that, while the Zoomers who only know her as a goth waifu from fanart hate the fact that she doesn't dress goth anymore and think her expressing any sentimental emotion at all is "out of character"

funny you say that cuz Im rewatching the show right now to refresh my memory

vagina

I thought it was going to go somewhere and not stay status quo. Does that mean I misunderstood it?

She expressed sentimental emotion towards her father, but not Dib. She was indifferent to Dib, and the entire planet.

They feel more like a family now.

Which she still was, the difference being that the movie gave her one (1) small moment of empathy toward her brother that lasted a couple of seconds, which is not out of character for her

Literally the only thing I hated is it went back to status quo. I figured maybe it'd have Membrane acknowledge Zim, but still not figure that Zim was a threat. Really was my only issue, aside from that I loved it.

Eh, the show itself always went back to status quo pretty much, I think maybe they were saving it in case they got the chance to do more in the future

If they don't, you can take the "Tallest being trapped in puppet hell" as the real, permanent defeat of the Irken Armada

I would've had a hint that Membrane was in deep denial, rather than just mistaken. That allows for status quo without the obvious cop-out of "I'm sure I was just unconscious." I mean, if he was unconscious, how is the appearance of Clembrane explained?

I thought she was great, just don't love the new rounded design and how her eyes were open most of the time

"Hated" was a bit too strong, meant "disliked."
>I think maybe they were saving it in case they got the chance to do more in the future
Makes sense, I just figured this would function as a sort of finale, as Jhonen said. But Jhonen has been obtuse before, and will again, so its no surprise.
Completely agree.

So it's not viable then, got it.

Outside of Zim knowing that the Tallest arent coming to earth, what changed?

They really improved her. Giving her a little more depth than just 100% sarcastic

She was never 100 percent sarcastic. Even inn the original show she was genuinely happy to spend time with her dad. Gaz is lowkey a daddy's girl.

> She was indifferent to Dib
she did a lot for Dib and went out of her way for him more than once in the show.

nothing

I think you needed to read the comics to be better exposed to the changes in her character. I read maybe the first three and I guess that was enough to expect something different from the show.

It had way too much heart and emotion.

Dib has a warmer relationship with his family and the world knows about aliens

No it didn't. The old show always had some flashes of emotion in it, too. There's a few moments that stood out to me:

1. Dib being genuinely exhausted and sad that his dad doesn't believe him. This isn't out of character for him, but it was presented with a bit more sincerity than the old show.
2. Membrane saying he was proud of his son. Again, not out of character for him or anything - Membrane has always been disdainful of his son's paranormal shit, and distant, but he was always kind and supportive when he found the time to actually talk to him.
3. Gaz showing a moment of empathy to her brother. It was brief, and didn't go too far at all. This is probably the most surprising emotional moment, but Gaz was hardly emotionless - even in the original show she was always very fond of her father and wanted to spend more time with him. It makes sense that she'd have genuine fondness for her brother buried under all the anger too.

That was it, very, VERY brief moments that were hardly a central focus and which were definitely not out of character.

they made me want to fuck her
which shouldn't have happened

it's just asking for porn
