which is the before and which is the after? What I mean is if he looked black in the previews and the backlash made them switch back to white, or if it was a bait and switch and he looked white in the previews and later showed him black.

Nobody complained that Garth was white. We complained about awful Mullethawk. And, to Sook's credit, he doesn't have it anymore.

The really bad aspect is how *clearly* patronizing this particular blackwashing is.

Its literally a last-minute change to the character to fulfill some perceived black quota. Other times, writers will say how they have a detailed plan where the swapping isn't just pandering but is important to the story. There is no way to spin this one, it is nothing but pandering. Even worse, the first couple of issues are likely already in the pipe, all they're changing is Garth's head, there will be zero characterization change.

This is the representation that minorities want and accept? Would you really accept a colorization of Seinfeld or Friends, change all their faces to black or asian but have them keep behaving as the whitest bunch of assholes you've ever seen?

Looking at the preview art and the new stuff originally Bouncing Boy was made black but now he’s back to being white and Lightning Lad and his sister are black because they were redheads.

Out of all of those the funny thing is the only one with an original design is Shango, but that's probably because he is based on an actual deity.
