There are countless examples people have posted in this thread alone showing that it's a very common archetype.
Here's a much more interesting scenario that can be difficult to find examples of: Name me movies where the protagonist and villain are opposite genders. It is extremely common that if your lead is a girl, she is going to find a girl and same thing for boy/boy.
Some of the few exceptions I can think of is:
