Real, serious, actual response: there is a history of "gender bending" villains that is definitely of the "haha, look at the creepy freaks" variety. One of the most recent examples most people remember is Him from the powerpuff girls, even having some "gay" moments (such as licking the professor's face) that were played as basically grossouts.

But, those characters were usually created by straight people with solely the intention of being disturbing.

Butt Witch is created by a woman who likes women and considers herself gender-nonconforming. She also considers Butt Witch one of her all-time favorite creations, and from the way the character is drawn, posed and written, you are obviously supposed to find her more cool and sexy than gross and ugly. She's hot as hell, intentionally so, including the powerful voice.

Compare also to Doctor Girlfriend, created by two men. It feels like she was intended to be a mean spirited joke at first - "look at this hot woman with a MAN voice!!!! LOL!!!" - but as the creators grew up, and kept exploring her more as a real character, she went from a joke to a figure both the writers and fans clearly have a great deal of respect for. It's a bit of a cop-out that they insisted after a while that she wasn't at all trans or intersex or had any reason for the voice besides "smoking a lot," but, at least the voice isn't meant as something "gross" about her anymore, which honestly felt like it stopped after only a couple of appearances. Barely into the first season they clearly cared about her.

And sorry for sameposting and all but another character that's interesting to analyze in this subject is Alice from Superjail, much more obviously a "gross joke," and jabs at her for having a dick and body hair and bad hygiene continued throughout the show, but sympathy for her also seemed to increase as it went along. It's reasonable to consider Alice an insulting caricature, but I also know multiple trans and nonbinary people who appropriated and love her for being such a gritty badass, which is an impression I think you can also glean a bit from the series crew by the final season. She could have been better, but I don't think they wanted you to hate Alice.

This could mean this green energy has mental-echancing effects while making the subject meaner. In the finale episode, we see these pink rocks, that was generated by the kids and power up the islanders, most of whom are near-retarded. These pink rocks are able to power down the Butt Witch well below her usual size. I suspect the green energy and the Pink rocks have some kind of connection. Perhaps the Butt Witch is a being wholly made out of this green energy.

My main complaint from that episode was the title. They should have called it Big Deal Forever, with more focus on him as a character and how the others feel about him. Then they could have saved Not Twelve Forever for the finale, as Reggie reaches her thirteenth birthday.

Speaking of connections and theories. Something I noticed in my latest watchthrough was that Butt Witch and the label maker, the only real evil characters spawned on Endless both came from liquid (The volcano and the lake respectively). All the other created inhabitants were buried in the sand. Granted it's a small sample size, but I still couldn't help noticing they were made differently than the others.

Facts that we know for sure: Puny, the studio that produced this show, no longer exists and folded around the end of production. It only exists as a shell company called "Buttwitch and Friends" for legal purposes, but there is no staff and/or studio any longer.

Things that we don't 100% know: The "why". You'll find a lot of theories floating around and it seems legit that there was a pending court case which includes allegations against the show's primary director (Julia Vickerman) for sexually harassing several members of her team. Also there's a lot of stuff from her Insta and personal accounts at the time where she seems kind of remorseful about things and admits to having substance abuse issues, pic attached. Also sounds like there was some internal drama with some other producer. Nobody really knows the "why" or "how" for sure, though.

The only way this show could continue is if an entirely new animation team was assembled for it or if it was sold off to another studio.

Endless is later shown to mess with Esther's watch and make it laugh, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that it can change other items around.

It feels like Endless is a sentient location that fucks with people just for the hell of it.

I forgot about the watch. A fantasy realm that can reality warp real world objects is terrifying. If this is a hint that Endless could grow powerful enough to leech into the real world, then not having more seasons to explore this is going to be the biggest JUST of this cartoon generation. We need more actual unsettling shit in cartoons that aren't fake unsettling like GF's shit finale. Pic related could be only the beginning of what it can do.

Maybe not even a island. Perhaps a harbor or whole continent. I think the former is pretty probable because that would enable the show to go on adventures on other islands.

I really liked this, but I'm afraid that it'll follow the path of other western cartoons that promised deep lore and had good first seasons, like Gravity Falls, Star Vs., or the dreaded pony show. Most of those went to shit and lore/world-building meant nothing in the end.

Honestly nothing but that is based more on their constant search for some kind of adversity to "fight back against" each and every day. No matter what, they really don't want to have a perfectly sunny happy day. They want to encounter something that they hate, or something that they believe hates them so they can get all the attention in the world for noticing and arguing back against it. They want constant adversity so there is never really going to be a point where they look up and think everything is fine now and nothing is wrong.

Given the overall themes of the show I doubt they'd go for the latter ending.

Yeah, relative to Wendy, the gulf isn't too wide but she seems to fulfill what Reggie probably wants in a partner a bit too well. She's a creative, open to Reggie's ideas and have some kind of admiration for her, pretty, not too mature. It feels too right. Now, in response to your line concerning Gwen, I feel like you're right to think that. Since Gwen serve as a pivotal role in Todd's big argument with Reggie, it's probable that issues will come about thanks to that. Likely not as explosive as the finale, but certainly inconvenient.

Imagine Reggie going through with her "plan" for the future and just vanishing into Endless forever. Her poor mom would probably spend the rest of her days tortured over the thought that her daughter is chained to a radiator in someone's basement

What if Reggie finally works up the nerve to ask Conelly out, but Conelly friend-zones her? The episode could then be about how Reggie has to deal with constantly being rejected, BW tries to exploit that with some new trap/monster, but Reggie eventually learns that she just has to accept others may not like her and that someone will accept her for who she is. Whatever BW summoned is defeated by being ignored as Reggie goes back and actually tries to be friends with Conelly.
