He's just a boring serial killer that self-harms, and the fact he has that many tally marks just makes Batman look even more impotent than when he treats the Joker with kid gloves.

I confess I haven't read a DC (or Marvel) comic since 2011 (and I've been much happier), but in everything I've read Zsasz was very much into killing and very much NOT into raping (he was frankly disgusted by people living their lives... sex would have no appeal to him).

Has that changed in more recent stories?

Why doesn’t someone reasonable just kick Zsasz’s head off?

Most of Batman's villains are pretty lame in theory but usually get good writers to make them interesting. Two-Face for example is by all means less threatening than a regular guy with a gun since, with Two-Face, you always have at least a 50 percent chance he'll spare you.

I never thought about it that way.
