Yup, still waiting for a deluxe edition

binging the Jetsons right now. Not as good as Flintstons but still fine.

I just read his Bible book, it was hilarious

Really good, I'm due for a reread.

Rocks rise up!

Flinstones/Jetsons was easily DC's best hanabarbera comics.

Keep waiting. According to a Rich article I read a while ago the new guy in charge of the HB stuff at WB/AT&T HATES this kind of stuff, which is why he killed off the Hanna-Barbera line. For some reason he supposedly also hates the Scooby-Doo Team-Up comics DC does even though they're the most kid friendly, vanilla fun crossovers imaginable.

Second half wasn't as good, but absolutely.

He's probably jealous that DC is using the HB cast better than he can or something.

Pregnant Wilma destroyed my dick

this is such blatant bara bait

What did he mean by this?

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

pics?

why do you want pictures of user's dick

no, preggers wilma DESTROYING DICK

fucking idiot...

I'm almost certain if it was going to come out it would have already or already been solicited. It's been too long and it hasn't made enough of a splash. The only factor that could change that is the Mark Russel brand becoming more valuable, but how much more valuable could it reasonably get?

he could write a mainstream title instead of goofy niche books

although isn't that happening soon?

He wrote a Sinestro 1 shot that was terrible. When you put a writer like Russel on popcorn comics they just become sanitized shit. Maybe he could get a 12 issue dealing with a mainline character kind of like Tom King did with Mister Miracle. It's a way to do a recognizable title but without your own style being sanitized by the sea of Saturday Morning crap.

The tea leaves tell me his brand won't become as big as it needs to be to precipitate a Flintsones HC, but I've been wrong before so who knows

That's basically what his Wonder Twins title is.

Wonder Twins are Z listers in a containment imprint. If you think that's going to precipitate a Flintstones HC in a era where the new DC order is very anti-double dip reprints you're going to be disappointed.

He'd be great for Harley.

Considering DC expanded the story from six to twelve issues, I'd say it's a good sign for Russell. Especially compared to a few years ago when his Prez comic was cut in half.

I don't think he can ever top Prez. That books was near perfect in every respect.

Russell would probably do great on a mainstream book if he was allowed to write as Mark Russell and not as Mark Russell As Filtered Through Editorial. It worked for Ewing when he finally made it onto a "real" book, but he established himself more than Russell has before getting Hulk.

Flintstones was 12 issues to. You're completely missing the point. DC does not want to double dip reprint anymore. Period. For them to do that with Flinstons Mark Russel would have to become one of if not THE pre-eminent name in comics.

one can dream

Even then the Ewing/Russel comparison is unequal because Marvel is FAR more liberal with reprinting/recollecting than DC ever was, ESPECIALLY with the New Order at DC.

I wasn't really talking in the context of reprints, just that Sinestro was (hopefully) a fluke.

>AoA Complete Collection has a placeholder date on Amazon
>but it's also a Tuesday so it might not actually be a placeholder

Attached: 10470382.png (520x678, 301K)

Well the whole discussion is about the likelihood of a single volume Flintstones HC. I was just stipulating conditions that would produce that.
> Sinestro was (hopefully) a fluke.
I dunno, mainline popcorn shit just steals the soul of a writer. Compare Sex Criminals to Fear Itself. Compare Southern Bastards to Original Sin. Compare everything Lemire does at Image/DH to everything he does at Marvel/DC.

I'm not saying Russell couldn't carve a niche out for himself the same way say Hickman or King did, but I don't see it happening. I think his best chance would be selling his soul to the popcorn popper and establish himself as a Tomasi+, so to speak. Or fucking off from Capes altogether and making a name in creator owned first like Lemire did, then return to Capes with more negotiating power.

>Compare Sex Criminals to Fear Itself
both shit, what's your point

But seriously, I just want to hold out hope that Ewing is the model Russell might one day follow, rather than Aaron or Lemire or King. And please god don't let him turn out like Tomasi.

>both shit, what's your point
One has personality, one has style. The other, you could remove the writer credit and people would struggle to guess who the writer was. That's all popcorn shit is. Soulless Saturday Morning shit that's rolled off an assembly line to make a deadline, most of which you'd never be able to guess who the writer even was.

The POINT, is that is that for Mark Russel to move up on the rung within superhero comics, he has to become one of those faceless action figure smashers. OR, leave and build his brand elsewhere. The publicity over Second Coming is a good start, a comic DC was too cowardly to publish.

I dunno, Ewing built his brand almost exclusively through Marvel superheroes, and when he went to a big mainstream book, he wrote it as a distinctly Al Ewing book, not as generic by-the-numbers capeshit. He might be entirely unique in the mainstream comics industry, but the precedent does exist.

Ewing is a rare and good example, I'll absolutely give you that. It's also worth noting that Ewing's rise coincides with a talent exodus to Image (Gillen, Hickman, Remender, Fraction, Brubaker). There was a lot of space to fill. Some hacks like Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Rosenberg and the like carved out a space in this time. Ewing also carved out a space, and had the good fortune of actually possessing talent.

I don't see a dynamic anything like that at DC. And remember the original topic is "what would it take to get a Flintstones HC recollection." Could Russel build his brand large enough to cause that, while working for DC? I have my doubts. There's just not enough space.

well maybe Bendis will burn DC down to the studs like he did at Marvel and Russell will have room to grow

Heh. It's funny how much Bendis shifted the dynamic. Gave the room for Hickman to return to Marvel, and swallowed a lot of room at DC. Hell Bendis swallowed a house worth of room at DC. Between Jinxworld, Wonder Comics, and Superman he's writing an insane amount of titles. No doubt a lot of them were in files and he just needed to click print.

I think a problem is DC is more risk averse now than they've ever been. Vertigo is scuttled, Mad is scuttled, King got kicked off Batman. And of course Second Coming for cancelled. The biggest prospects are kiddie/YA Graphic Novels like Raven or Dear Justice League.

For Mark Russel to shine he has to be Mark Russel. I'm sorry to say but he'd have a better chance at Marvel, a company who is much more willing to take risks lately, for better or for worse.

Is this the one were they talk about genocide?

Why does Pugh's art look so much different here than in Animal Man?

inkers and colorists can make a surprisingly big difference. But Pugh might have just softened his style a bit for Flintstones

I was never too keen on his work on AM desu. Think it looks much better here

Unironically based

Boo-Mussh-Kooleg

BOULDERS RISE UP

>He wrote a Sinestro 1 shot that was terrible.

It was entirely okay, just not amazing. Same as Wonder Twins #1, which became really great in the subsequent issues.

That’s bullshit though as a ton of books that are coming out soon are reprints

How is Fred so buff? His job involves him sitting on a dinosaur and making it move rocks and when he's not doing that he's lazy.

typical WB, their execs sabotage other people in the company for petty insider politics, they're one of the most obviously sloppily managed megacorps around

It's really funny how Didio himself was the one pushing for this book and Russell even promised to return to it at some point in the future. Then comes the AT&T buyout and a new breed of retarded WB exces axing everything left and right

I have one fucking issue I can't find anywhere, hate not having this whole series

Gwenpool plz...

to be fair it was probably in development for a few years

It’s definitely got a 5 Nights at Freddie’s vibe to it, so it was probably put into production a couple years back when that game was all the rage

Ennis' Dastdarly & Muttley was also excellent

Barney, we were part of a genocide.

How would you guys rate the HB Titles?

The Flintstones
The Jetsons
Scooby-Doo Apocalypse
Future Quest
Future Quest Presents
Wacky Raceland
The Ruff & Ready Show
Dastardly & Muttley
Exit Stage Left

Flintstones>>>Dastardlly>>>>Exit Stage>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Scooby

Never read the rest

The storytime threads when each new issue came out were fun

Snagglepuss is a must too

It was decent, better than it had any right to be, but it was heavy-handed as fuck and overrated because of low expectations from the IP and from current Big 2 comics.

Is it autism? Seems like autism.

More likely it WAS a Five Nights at Freddy's movie at one point, then when Scott left, they dolled it up with the Banana Splits

Give me a hint, SuperSatan. Those eyes have me trapped.

Tree niggers and Tree sympathizers need not apply

I pirate my comics because I'm a poorfag, but I fucking loved this comic and if buying it would've gotten me more issues, I would've bought it.

Scooby Apocalypse still got 36 issues over 3 years. I don't know why Flintstones died so quickly.

Because all it took was 12 issues to tell the story.
A second volume would have been cool, but not strictly necessary.
As for Scooby, I don't know, I guess someone was buying it.

I'm just pissed we never got Prez: Second Term. I guess they didn't want to try to compete with reality.

>Because all it took was 12 issues to tell the story.
THE story? Each issue was its own story.

It's nice for once for Wilma to not be completely outclassed by Betty.

no it wasnt
when they started to talk about war while drinking a coffee at starbucks i wanted to kill myself
who the fuck writes that, i mean seriously can you have a little self awearness?
it just character walks somewhere
>modern culture sucks
character walks somewhere
>modern culture sucks
character walks somewhere
>we took part in a genocide barney
at least i could be ironic with what its doing, tell me i know this is lazy pandering, i know im telling you this as gospel from an incredibly high place of comfort, im writing a literal hipster version of the flinstones for college students to masturbate over, its a fucking comic winning fucking awards
instead its happy walking that simple dot line with a group of overgrown children who belive themselves more clever than they are following behind

They actually didn't resort to turning either into a joke and balance the need for spiritual guidance and the search for meaning with the desire to lean more about the world we live it.

This was a really good comic.

The writing is great, but it's the art that really sells it.
The look on Sargon's face while he hold his book is perfect.

Attached: EMBRACE IT.png (995x1348, 1.1M)

Snagglepuss is kind of weak. The art especially is pretty blah.

>mfw playing Saya no uta

I couldn't believe I never got the Gerald G-D thing until the end. I honestly thought the writers just pulled that name out their ass.

oof

Because surely it can't be worse than ProJared's, user.

Aye, sure mate, mebbe a few decades.

Bendis got Russell a title if anything. Russell is not Ewing. One is genuinely a good writer, and the other is a dumb capeshit writer. Let's not compare them.
