Not quite. You know the scene in Indiana Jones where the Nazis faces melt when they open the Ark of the Covenant? The idea was that only the priest class of the ancient Jews knew the true name of God and it was passed down from priest to priest, and being not of the priest class and trying to guess/say it would cause pretty much that scene to happen to whomever spoke it. There is a group of modern Jews known as the kohanim, they're the modern version of the priest class.
