OP. Sure, that could work too. Like it's only ready as Thanos warship is entering Earth's atmosphere. All manner of shit you can do. But the main stuff is to have the superior IW Thanos with the actual history with the Avengers be the main baddie, give the film an overall greater sense of intensity with Thanos being a lingering threat they know will come before the time heist even begins, retooling the final battle, etc.
All this sperging out of these proposed changes and not one decent post explaining what's so awful in detail outside of an autistic nitpick about the time travel and why it's so inferior to the real EG. What's so dreadful about having IW Thanos be the baddie?

Purpose is to make EG seem much more climatic and give a greater sense of finale. So better villain who is a threat from act one, longer and more dramatic yet more coherent and structured final battle, etc. And small shit too, like Tony's PTSD/visions, Nebula/Rhodey have some brief intense tomb raider thing in lieu of the act one comedy, etc.
