Why did Feige ditch her character in favour of Widow and Peggy? She was clearly set up to have further roles but she suddenly dissappears from the MCU half way through civil war

Sharon should have been working with Cap post snap and he should have died fighting Thanos. Hell she should have been on Team Cap in civil war if Natasha was allowed to compete in a fight involving Black Panther, Iron Man and Vison

It was a conbination of the Russos giving Widow the lead for Winter Soldier and Feige pushing Spider-Man and Ant-Man into Civil War. Reminder that they were casting for Sharon as a female lead and actresses like Imogen Poots, Emilia Clarke, Anna Kendrick, and Felicity Jones were vying for the role but they all were out and they settled on Van Camp. My guess they decided to drop once they changed Sharon's role from lead to background.

The funny thing is no one talked about it after BP but they went ape shit on sebastian stan after howard mackie and chadwick bosemen joked about it in a joint interview

They probably decided to give Steve a happy retirement ending with Peggy because Steve/Sharon was so underdeveloped and because of the negative reaction to it in Civil War, possibly not understanding that most of the negative reaction came from Steve/Bucky shippers who were deluded enough to think that was ever going to be canon.

In the comics she was used well throughout the Brubaker run. Arguably Steve, Bucky and Sam have had issues with the writing for the past decade. I also think Sharon is a character that only Brubaker and Waid were interested in.

I think it was because they didn't bother to fucking develop it and it got to the point that they just didn't know what to do with her, and just dropped her and went with the Peggy ending because at that point Peggy was more popular and the Russos didn't know what to do with Steve's character (which has been all over the place).

At least her character stands a chance to develop now in the Winter Soldier and Falcon series without Steve having to be there and her removed from the whole romance with Cap thing.

If Waid hadn't brought her back she would have stayed dead and up till that point she has been dead since the 70's (then Waid retconned it so she had her death faked for a mission and then was just abandoned by SHIELD during a mission and had to fend for herself in a foreign country).

But if Waid hadn't brought her back Brubaker would have since he admitted that if Waid hadn't brought her back he would have. Coates claims to be a big fan of Brubaker's run and that he loves Sharon but we'll see.
