Like even with garbage like Adventure Time or Steven Universe there was this implication that some of the staff knew that there were some older audiences watching it too but with shit like Amphibia and Star vs the Forces of Evil, that shit is 100% for kids under the age of 11 and I don't get what you have to gain from it.

Cheesecake in capeshit comics were just a cynical marketing ploy to get horny nerds to buy comics, and the only reason that they've steered away from it now is because pandering to these same horny nerds is no longer a guarantee for sales, so you've gotta broaden your scope to audiences who might not necessarily like them. Catering to changes to audience expectations is not 'censorship', and you can still find plenty of fanservice moments in comics if you look, and plenty of wholly cheesecake comics are still being published.

I mean, the quality does LOOK better. Until you watch an anime and you realize you're looking at a very pretty slideshow. At least cartoons have smooth animation, even if it is flash a lot of the time. It's just cartoons don't do anything dynamic with their animation, but that's the age-old trade off.
I'd also say the actually decent animes are the ones that don't just repeat the "do your best". Like Ping Pong, Katanagatari, Iron Blooded Orphans, FLCL, Baccano, Samurai Champloo, Bebop.
Fucking seriously, Ping Pong ruined me. Nothing else looks as good.

Let's just spitball here: let's say that you're a comic collector, but you wanna keep things conservative so you only pull Action Comics, Red Sonja, and Teen Titans. You're gonna get maybe thirty minutes total of reading material out of all three, for the price of about $15.

For that same amount of money, I could go on steam right now and buy any one of the following:

>X-COM: Enemy Unknown
>Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
>Warhammer: Vermintide 2

And these are just the ones showing up on the front page, all guaranteed to give me at least a few hours of entertainment, with the last being multiplayer and thus having potential for hundreds of hours of entertainment. Alternatively, I could buy one month of a Playstation Plus subscription and be guaranteed at least two free games and a discount on hundreds of other products being sold there.

I could alternatively use that money for a streaming subscription to any number of providers, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Crunchyroll, etc, all of which has literally thousands of hours of entertainment I will have unlimited access to.

Even GW content, as hideously overpriced as it is, gives you far more value for your dollar with its potential in use for games and hobby time actually getting the figurines together and painted.

Cape comics have no chance at competing with this at its current price, and its current distribution method. Hell, even digital distribution is struggling since its prices have to remain consistent with floppies because every time they try mark things down too far LCS' pitch a shit fit about unfair competition. Putting more cheesecake in the mix won't course correct a fundamentally broken system.

OK KO is a solid 7/10 most of the time and it’s art style is complete shit. Ian’s standards for on-model likely stems from Rebecca and that hurts the animation and art quality of the show when the characters design wise are all over the place

I spent about 50 bucks on blood borne. PS4 was ~250$ when I got it.
PS+ was entirely optional but was 50$. I'll even throw in the DLC which was 20$.
That's 370$.

I spent about 600 hours in that game across all my files. That's about a dollar and a half for each hour of entertainment. And the efficiency goes up with each subsequent game I can buy since the console is already bought.

Sleepless is a great comic (well, at least the first one is) and cost me 20$. If you pour over each and every gorgeous page and read it a few times, it's take you maybe an hour and a half if you're generous, all things considered.
Comics really can't compete. The only thing vidya has against it is the insane starting cost of the console itself. And with Steam/GOG that's not even really an issue.

The state of the industry be be so much better if the production posse for Flapjack never existed (along with the line of continuity that led to Regular Show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, ect) and instead the vast majority of CN's high profile creators were brits with ties to Gumball. No indie elements, no high ties to fandom culture and general decrease in formality, ect. Gumball honestly went through a similar maturing stage as Adventure Time did during a similar timespan, but nothing went off the rails and it's shedded far less crewmembers towards other projects for the network, which is honestly a damn shame.

Speaking of, Gumball would have been improved with relationship drama

I don't know, I've seen a lot of anime-related posts on Yea Forums lately that paint western animation with a broad brush, often by denying its artistic qualities and potential while lauding anime as superior. I still prefer anime, but I'm not the anime-only elitist I once was, and the lesser-known animated movies and miniseries featured here have changed my mind instead of reinforcing the purported superiority of anime

I see this argument of efficiency in leisure time and I truly wonder if you guys schedule your relaxation. It strikes me as supremely odd that people don’t understand the appreciation of having a tangible physical copy of something. I think that floppies are a poor example for me to make this argument on, but certainly when compiled wouldn’t you see the value of having a story you could revisit with visuals that actually incite a reaction from you? Obviously to each their own, but at a certain point aren’t we trying to tell each other how to measure each other’s happiness? If someone has the money and chooses to collect the tpb, why argue that? If you decide your money is better spent elsewhere, who would question that?
