How do you feel about Scar's backstory getting retconned?

It's become kinda hard to enjoy anything these days unless you learn to ignore or accept retcons.
Not defending that, just pointing out the absolute STATE of media.

It's a Disney Junior cartoon so it's made for literal toddlers. No real fanatic would take this seriously.

It's not a real retcon. There was a storybook set that came out around the original film and one of them has a story about how Scar got his scar. People worship the goddamned hell out of these books and treat them like they're holy texts for some reason despite the fact they were obviously shit out as quickly as possible to make a few more dollars on merch rather than some purposeful serious worldbuilding canon.

Even if it made by a third party publishing company using a bunch of different tie-in writers with no connection to the films' actual creations and the creators of the second movie have explicitly said they had no knowledge of it while making Simba's Pride? Beyond Scar, you also have to deal with Kopa if that's the case. Was he retconned out of existence too or are you one of those edgyfags that want to kill him off-screen for Simba angst?

I don't care if he is a ghost, they shoudln't do that. Mufasa only "talked" to Simba, through the memory of his heart and how he imagined he would talk to him.

Who the fuck has Scar in his heart and how could they have him tell him backstory no one ever told him about? His the snake imagining a whole fan-fiction for Scar?

The whole show is based around some magical bullshit roar power they made up for it. The Great Lions of the Past are literally there in the sky as ghosts all the time, as well as Mufasa's ghost.

I think I preferred the story where Scar wasn't the favorite child and grew sour from it while Mufasa cluelessly reaped all the benefits of his life being completely blind to his brother and his growing bitterness. It clues more in with Mufasa being blindsided by Scar's betrayal, despite characters like Zazu trying to tell Mufasa that Scar is pretty damn evil at the start of the movie.

Him getting his iconic scar while in-process of trying to get Mufasa in a situation he could die fits in more than 'evil lion baits Scar to believe his story about taking on Mufasa and he gets bit by a snake'. Why would he abandon his old name for a namesake over a story that fucking stupid?
