"A triumph for everyone involved."

>"A triumph for everyone involved."
>"A must read for anyone who considers themselves a true X-Men fan."
>"Exceeds its lofty expectations."
Why is there such a disconnect between fans and critics?

Critics are paid to write positive reviews.

Because comic reviewers are video game reviewers with even less shame.

That's a bit of a cynical take, no?

Criticism is about assessing a work based on what it sets out to achieve. Mouth-breathing comic fans just want something that agrees with their sensibilities and reinforces that they are correct to be adults reading funny books. Anything that bucks against that is derided

Making Magik not a mutant is worth all the praise. Shame Hickman is going to undo it.

>Making Magik not a mutant is worth all the praise.
I thought it was Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver where the one who where no longer Mutants.

I mean, Rosenberg set out to take the X-Men to their lowest point. He set out to achieve that, but I think he went a lot further than he intended. I'm not sure if that's worthy of praise.

Hickman has already undone a lot of shit from the past 5 years. Everyone is glad he's doing that

The fuck are you talking about, I've seen nothing but praise from everyone but contrarians on Yea Forums who literally shit on everything unless Morrison wrote it

Forgive me, do you mind linking this praise? I don't visit any other site to discuss comic books but here. I usually spend all my comic time reading comics instead of discussion.

And it's kind've ironic he brought up Morrison since most people here seem to hate his New X-Men run.

Mostly hardcore X-fags on Twitter, lots of lapsed fans, people who are typically pretty critical of Marvel. House to Astonish's hosts and David Uzumeri have been particularly praising of it.

>And it's kind've ironic he brought up Morrison since most people here seem to hate his New X-Men run.
Who brought up Morrison? Also the majority of X-Fags on Yea Forums think his run is great. What are you talking about?

low standards

>I've seen nothing but praise from everyone but contrarians on Yea Forums who literally shit on everything unless Morrison wrote it
I actually frequent Reddit and most people there seem to have pretty thoroughly loathed it by the tail-end.

Yeah that's just plain old not true at all.

>Yeah that's just plain old not true at all.
Well, that's just my experience and I've been here a decent while.

I’ve literally seen nothing but contempt for Rosenberg’s run here and on most other forums. The storytime user literally just stopped posting it at some point and nobody cared.

Comicvine never reviewed comics they would give 3 out of 5 or less.

Pretty much everyone, in their praise for HiX-men, seems to at some point mention how bad the X-Men have been for a long time, and I'm quite surprised that dumbfuck retard Jordan White seems to be so proud of this praise despite him having nothing to do with Hickman coming on

Then your memory is incredibly selective.

I don’t trust corporate “journalism” as far as I can throw it.

How aggressive!
