Zootopia

Thread about discussing what you liked and disliked about the movie.

Who was your favorite character.

Also if you think Disney will ever make a sequel.

Well satan, I like how well it was animated, I thought the main characters were nicely developed, and it was good to see two characters actually learn to like each other and come to rely on each other, rather than just "be next to each other" for the movie.

Also, sequel never, but live action remake in 2024

I wish they stuck to the initial concept, it was much more unique.

I want a tv show, this movie does not work much as a sequel
Furbait aside the main two had a good friend dynamic and I can't see it being sexualized

The shock collar script?
I guess they didn't want to traumatize little kids watching the movie.

Attached: 913erqjplBL.jpg (2066x2560, 957K)

Apparently it had more to do with the shock collar thing making viewers hate the setting.

It was good, I guess the only thing I didn't like was the villain she should've had more screen time of her actually being evil to help develop her as a better villain then just making her evil in like the last 10 minutes of the movie since "we need a villain"

>Also if you think Disney will ever make a sequel.
>Studio known for shitting out endless sequels
>Zootopia made serious bank
Wow this one is a real head scratcher.

It would have made the world and setting look more "mean."

And one of the things people said they loved was the setting. So I guess removing the collars was the right move. The underlying racism angle flew better, because most little kids probably didn't get it. And most parents did but it wasn't that heavy handed.

>those hips

Attached: 08d.png (482x450, 149K)

I'm sure some furry out there will take the concept and make a webcomic out of it.

Disney may do a fucking "live action" version, since that is what they are doing lately.

Attached: d7ohxpg-40e6d316-be2d-4f34-9e13-e19de1e616c9.jpg (500x503, 233K)

Their live action remakes rely on nostalga, Zootopia is too new, they'll do a live action in 20-30 years.

Agreed. Her motivation was very first draft. Just generic power grabbing. I would have liked to see a real idea behind her actions.

Fucking breeding hips.

Yet the whole "cops blackmail and associate with mobsters and that's ok" angle was fine with them

Judy didn't need to continue the charade after Bellwether spilled the beans, but she did want Nick to bite her.

>"is that Shakira playing"
>"Oh man I haven't heard her in ages"
>Like, "this takes me back to a better time" ages

It's easier to traumatize an adult than a kid

Cops are mobsters, so whats the big deal?

>could you give my character bigger hips

Truly a modern day hero.

Attached: 1508732637175.gif (540x168, 1.74M)

Was Clawhauser ever confirmed as gay?

It would be based if they made Nick or Judy that in a sequel so it would deconfirm any ships and make the fandom rage

You honestly have to ask?...
It's a Disney movie, so they won't come out and say it. But it was pretty obvious he loves the cock.

I want to ____ that bunny

The movie had pretty much no sexuality in it at all. In terms of actual romance in Zootopia, they didn't really show much. And the one couple we did see (Judy's parents) didn't show a lot of affection towards each other.

but is this not a general problem with disney, that they only try to appeal to the current kids audience but not the meanwhile plus 20 disney fans who would like to see something from their childhood that has grown older with them, reflecting in a more mature story with more serious problems and threads.

What about all the jokes about rabbits breeding quickly, or the plush rabbit booty?

Yeah. Girls love the concept of permanently suffering Nick Wilde.

Yeah there were jokes about rabbits fucking, the suggestiveness of the naturalist club, the mob boss' daughter was pregnant, Nick's joke about humping and pregnancy, the tiger dancers wearing the sluttiest shorts imaginable, Gazelle, and Judy's neighbors are loud. A stretch, but part of the problem with loud horny (get it?) married neighbors is that you can hear them fucking through the wall.

There were 2 jokes about rabbits "multiplying."
I meant the lack of actual romantic feelings being shown between any characters at all. The movie pretty much avoided this. I guess Mr. And Mrs Otterton was the closest they really showed.

>plush rabbit booty
Wut?
You talking about the Judy butt shots?

I don't like that Judy associates with mrBig at the end

She's supposed to uphold the ideas of justice, there's zero reason why shd be ok with a gang that deals in murder, blackmail, kidnapping and possibly stuff like drugs and tax evasions

Cops need their connections.

Not much the police can do with the mob, even in real life.

She was only in the movie to promote her music and made it slightly worse with a leaden monologue that distracts from what is happening to the main character and hits the audience in the face with a moral.

Does Disney even do tv series anymore?
It was a staple of theirs in the 90's.

Attached: og_og_1468094257259137124.jpg (1200x628, 111K)

She had like 2 lines of actual dialogue in the movie. She didn't drag the movie down because of that scene. Honestly "Try Everything" was a mediocre song. That was weaker than her actual lines in the movie.

Based on the movie's own message, his stereotypically camp mannerisms mean he's straight as an arrow.

You mean based on the movies they do? They're doing a Tangled series right now.

Otherwise, they do a lot of shows for Disney Channel.

The last minutes of the film really should have had him off-hand a comment about "my wife" to land that gag.

But no, they'd get hacks screeching about "erasing queer representation"

Those lines are a monologue not spoken to any actual character so they're just floating there affecting nothing. The character otherwise does nothing other than "is popular singer".

That "racism is bad mmkay" also distracts from Judy's character development. Hearing the moral put in words before the main character gets there is jumping the gun.

Attached: zootopia-wallpaper-48-320x480.jpg (320x480, 41K)

Judy was seeing what her jump to conclusions (listening to the "scientist" badger) and not practicing her public speaking resulted in at the same time that voice over by Gazelle was going on though.

And a heavy-handed monologue by a non-character who does not interact with Judy does not advance that. Judy does it herself by seeing the consequences of her actions (already begun with Nick leaving her), meeting Gideon again, and begging and receiving forgiveness from Nick. It all works without a on-the-nose monologue spoken to and heard by no actual character in the film.

it's the only interesting thing about the movie.

Attached: 960879824.jpg (1280x1051, 318K)

Shock collars are heavy-handed schlock.

Think someone already made webcomic with the scockcoller concept.

Yea, it's called Beastars
:V

I'm slightly annoyed they have a perfectly good final scene with Nick and Judy in the cop car but apparently someone felt they had to stick with the dance-party ending cliche in an animated film.

Attached: 1517469302356.png (620x820, 440K)

>Honestly "Try Everything" was a mediocre song.
Someone pointed out that it makes little sense as a theme song of the film; Judy doesn't "try everything", she tries one thing (police-work) very intently, which is why she's good at it.

We need two things. Zootopia show and Zootopia video game.

A show where Just and Nick fight crime

And a video game where you play as Judy or Nick in an open world Zootopia to try and solve a mystery.

i wonder what happened to that big eared doggo

I'd rather have a TV show ala Tangled.

Attached: 1456612874772.jpg (570x411, 49K)

I thought it looked good and I appreciated the way the animals were still significantly different in size and other characteristics rather than just being humans with tails and fur, but the plot didn't really stick with me. I've been meaning to rewatch it, but I'm just not really that interested in the story or particularly invested in the characters. It's not that they're bad or that there's anything to specifically put me off, there's just nothing that really hooked me in. A sequel is probably inevitable given how well the film did and how much extra room there is to explore the setting, and I'll probably watch it because the setting is pretty interesting.

Right "try again" would have been more appropriate, but it may be implied that you need to try everything to do one thing, as in come at a problem from more than one angle. I mean Nick certainly tried to be honest and live with prey, but that didn't work out.

And Trigger animation studios (the one that made Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia) its going to made a new anime with the same concept, i think its calles BNA: Brand New Animal

>furries gaining mainstream appeal

Attached: 1456948750532.jpg (306x233, 14K)

Yo it wasn't a lewd pic. Mods pls :(

I don't know if this was intentional, but I like how the predator/prey divide is actually messy and indistinct up close. It's not simply a question of physical power because the prey Bogo is much larger than the predator Nick, and the predator ottor woman is even smaller than Judy. Moreover, in a mammals-only talking-animal setting the otters never predates on other mammals, so the "they used to eat us" thing doesn't even work there.

So predator/prey is a simplification that's not entirely fictional but is unwise to take too seriously, much like real racial divides.

t-thiccer!!

Attached: 1540074122.gloomyacid_judy.png.jpg (864x1280, 98K)

This gets brought up EVERY time Zootopia is discussed, and I never really thought it was that compelling an idea or really made for an entertaining film. I think it's just a case of "the grass is greener" where people think what they don't have is better than what could have been.

It's probably also a case of "darker is bettter!"

Im glad for the copious amounts of gay and straight porn

Shock collars makes for a TERRIBLE metaphor for race-relations because it's just a melodramatic oppression fantasy. The "sanitized" final version was much more nuanced and meaningful on the topic.

But he was a fat donut loving cop. Being a queen is against the cop stereotype.

The neighbors are still gay and he'd be challenging norms of straight masculinity, but sure.

Who else saw this in 3D?

Are those tiny small tit muscles in the bottom left?

Yes.

Identity politics are very malleable (i.e. lacking in principle) so it's easy to be contradictory like that. It's simply about being loud.

Everything lacks in principle if you stretch a specific idea out to involve every opinion and introspection vaguely associated with broadly defined political camps.

Tangled
Big Hero 6
or Lion Guard if you count it canon

Not much they can do =/= form friendship with them, like judy does

I believe those are called pectorals.

it's amazing how the movie turned out

Anthropomorphic animals have been mainstream for a while.
Furries (who are HUMANS that make liking anthro animals part of their personality) are still a minority.

I agree with the distinction, but I think the latter category is in ascendancy

nah its just resting

Mainstream as in normies are aware of the fandom.

You can make something decent using the "furry" style.

Attached: dont interrupt.png (355x441, 134K)

I loved everything about the movie, but I don't want a sequel. I want a TV show, so they can really explore the world the film created.

Honestly, I think that works for a cop film.
I like her character, because she makes the world feel real and lived in.

nick a cute

I hated the racism angle. It would have been more innovative if it were about civility versus animalistic behavior. We are all animals that strive to put on a civil facade.

How do you think wages and salaries work in Zootopia? I found myself unable to stop thinking about how different sized animals needing way more or less food would affect the dynamics of earnings, wether equal pay is enforced and causing some kind of wealth divide or if different jobs pay differently-sized animals varying amounts and all the obvious issues THAT'D cause.

I know this movie still has generals in /trash/, maybe something like this has been debated there.

That's already been done. Why retread old ground?

Attached: temp.png (591x312, 339K)

That work still had humans. Mr. Fox screwed the whole neighborhood out of their homes. I would want something that shows that we got to keep our animal behavior in check if we want to be a part of society.

It really was an over elaborate credit sequnce.

Beastars

Its like the RE4 beta. It was different than the end product and had only test footage and a pitch to go on so fans can exagerate it info thinking it would have been something that fixed the problems they had with the final product.

I would think if they went with the collar idea it would have gone poorly.

Attached: original.jpg (512x358, 62K)

>Moreover, in a mammals-only talking-animal setting the otters never predates on other mammals, so the "they used to eat us" thing doesn't even work there.

I think otters will also eat mice. Just about anything that eats meat will eat mice.

Beastars was released after Zootopia & still has the carnivore/herbivore split.

>I think the latter category is in ascendancy

I knew this day would come when they had those animal head masks at walmart. I'm a furry and I try to stay 100 feet and upwind of those fucking weirdos.

remember Emperor's New Groove?

that was also going to be a completely different movie.

Yeah, but the whole theme of the manga is about suppressing animal instincts. I was just pointing you to it in case you might enjoy it.

Attached: spectacular.png (368x461, 252K)

Okay. I thought we were getting into a war.

Not really into it. I just would prefer a Disney flick to cover something that isn't too on-the-nose.

I think no one complains about that becauze the movie was objectively the perfect movie.

funniest disney movie ever.

Two things can be true at once.

The manga is actually about how race mixing is bad and you should stick to your own kind to avoid trouble

Larger herbivores eat grain mostly which is cheaper per pound than meat that the carnivores eat. Further market forces like demand, population differences between large and small, and how much of a markup cost producers can sell for to stay competitive likely keep things affordable across the board.

>the one couple we did see
It's subtle, but there was another couple: Judy's neighbours, Bucky and Pronk.

Attached: CdC-iZLUYAEmLg2.jpg (738x666, 53K)

It's true. Reminder that race mixing is wrong and leads only to misery.

Attached: based&beastpilled.png (835x1200, 351K)

They were cute, I wanted more of them.

>meat in Zootopia
I thought everyone is a vegetarian in this setting

The carnivores ate bugs. Possibly fish too

How were they a couple? That was me and my roomate during college.

>Also if you think Disney will ever make a sequel.
I want to say they won't, because they had such a hard time arriving at the good final product, but they also had a hard time with Frozen and that's gotten a sequel

I just imagine by the time they do get to it, they'll replace all the characters (or at least Judy and Nick) because the movie will be 10+ years old by then

If not the wow factor no one would care for the CGI, Disney ran out of those, muh, snow, muh city, muh fur, muh water, muh giant monster made of little ralphs, what's next? Snow again?

Tiny Lister has spilled the beans: not only they are working on the sequel right now, they intend to make it a trilogy.

Oops, that was for

I Will Survive

Disney's first incestuous, homosexual couple.
Very progressive, very progressive. People in 2069 are going to be impressed.

Incestuous? Nigga, they ain't the same species.

I've held rabbits, they feel nice, but very fragile. Judy's anatomical variations from an actual rabbit would make her feel less like a wiggly newborn covered in cotton.

They had the same hyphenated last name that hints that they're of different species. And they are also obviously of different species. They're married.

I'm thinking Arby's.

Great movie... great characters and storyline. The level of visual detail is absolutely insane. I travelled a couple hundred km to see it in an Imax theatre a couple of months after the movie left the theatres. 4K laser projection in 3D was mind blowing.

The only thing I didn't like (and I say that weakly) was the end song played twice in the movie. Although I will concede that it fit the moment both times.

Judy. Judy is my favourite and her dad Stu was my 2nd.

The sequels are confirmed coming our way in a couple of years.

intredasting...

Attached: 1495986473236.png (382x510, 291K)

Did anyone have guns?

They might have omitted them since it simplifies things if there are no projectile weapons. It's a fantasy setting so they can get away with it.

I hate that rabbit so much.

They don't really need weapons. We see Judy can bounce around and use momentum to wreck shit and the other cops are big enough to just wreck stuff unarmed.

Indeed they are different species: Bucky (twisty horns) is a kudu, and Pronk (straight horns) is a gemsbok.

They had to work in more of that stupid Gazelle shit for merchandizing. That pop shit was the worst aspect of the film, it feels completely out of place.

I thought the message of the movie was evil. Discussing 13do50 is not wrong. Discussing IQ is not wrong. Discussing racial differences is not wrong. Judy Hoops did nothing wrong at that press conference.

I would be surprised if they didn't fuck them up, considering what the did with Ralph 2

I love Judy's bunny butt

>Nothing wrong with pitching baseless speculation from an eavesdropped shady conversation as legitimate explanation

Also, predators are smarter than prey animals

>Suicide door on that truck

Just how old is that thing?

>suicide door
Explain please.

I thought suicide doors flipped upwards

No, those are gull-wing doors.

Those are gull wing doors.

Suicide doors are doors that are hinged at the rear instead of the front. They were popular on cars/trucks in the first half of the 1900's. It's a slang term of course. Google it for more info.

The one explanation I heard was if you opened the door while the car was moving the door would be blown open and maybe pull you out. Why someone would open the door of a moving vehicle is beyond me.

Thanks for the explanation guys.
>Why someone would open the door of a moving vehicle is beyond me.
That would be me, lol.
When I was like 10 I opened the door of a moving car accidentally and everyone around me flipped their shit.

But the movie gives us no reason to think that predator species are more prone to violence than prey species. Not once does a predator animal try to eat a prey animal, not even the crazies; they just attacked everything indiscriminately.

Fuck off back to R3ddit you stupid niggerfaggot poltard. That's nazi propaganda.

Why would the chief of police ever be in a class A uniform and doing desk duty rather than their administrative work?

so glad they got rid of the collars
that scene with the little kid was just especially sad, and would have definitely made me hate the world they had created. which isn't necessarily bad, but they wanted the world to be a big part of the film, and they wanted people to love the world and want it to succeed.

I would think it would be more efficient this way. Plus it would help maintain his alpha status among the other animals. It may be that his presence reinforces a rapport he has with his men who are working in the front lines.

Or, this was a special circumstance that required his personal appearance.

We see a fish market briefly in Tundratown during the initial train tour and there is a BugBurga wrapper somewhere in the movie. BurBurga is the bug protein based burger restaurant from the early versions of the script.

I love this movie but that is one thing that bugged me. It gets the nature of police work completely wrong. Yada yada it's just a movie, I know, but it's hard not to have in the back of your mind once you notice it.

Why do they always have to pick the most cringe-inducing terminology?

What about the fact apparently Little Rodentia had no police? You'd think every part of Zootopia would have its own, properly-sized police force. Rodents for rodents, rabbits for rabbits, elephants for elephants.
But then I guess we wouldn't have a movie.

It was apparently a really visceral, gut-level hatred as well; the kind that made people actively dislike Judy and Nick for wanting to try and save the place.
