Everything about it is just painfully mediocre.
They never do anything cool with the magical folklore they have, and with one or two exceptions the mystical creatures themselves are usually defanged and safe.
Lechuza and Chupacabra especially were a fucking joke.
And holy shit is Vic unlikable.
He's just a straight up asshole to everyone including Val, the one that's usually trying to get them -out- of the situation.
Situations that Vic causes 99% of the time.
If he wasn't the main cause of all their problems I could tolerate him a little better.
Also his voice annoys the hell out of me.
Val's alright. Kinda bland, but nothing really -wrong- with him.
It has Charlene, and she's cute, but that ain't anywhere near enough to even remotely save a show.

Agree, the show only follows 3 basic formulas:
-Victor does something stupid or being a jerk and has to fix it
-Valentino thinks he's too smart but gets the better of him
-Both fight for the affection of someone they love or admire like Sal
As someone mentions, they don't take advantage of the magical folklore they have or even going deep so people can learn about more of Mexican culture.

I'm really upset about this because it's got such a cool premise. Honestly it could have been really cool to see a show that focused on Mexican cryptids, legends and horror stories because that's new to most of us. But the show feels like it's scared to do anything truly tense or scary like something like Courage the Cowardy dog, or even Gravity falls was. Not to mention both Victor and Valentino are pretty boring and obnoxious as characters. I'm sure you could fix this show without changing the art style or premise and just better direction. Something that's really damning is that we don't really get a good introduction to these characters or the premise. It'd have been nice if we at least got an episode to establish their situation and introduce them as characters. When I first saw the opening I thought it was gonna be some cool plot driven horror story where Victor and Valantino were the cause of everything bad happening in Mante Macabre by breaking some sort of artifact or cursing themselves or something. I dunno it just seems like most of the conflicts simply aren't a big deal in the show so a lot of it doesn't stick.

That's how i feel about the show, the main characters are annoying and boring! Unlike other characters like Big City Greens and Amphibia, Victor and Valentino are very unlikable that you can't relate to them at all. Victor is pretty much a lame tone down version of Dan Vs. and Cricket Green while Valentino is the boring bookworm and goodie goodie that you can't stand.
Funny how the background characters are far more interesting than the main characters.

It is bad and nobody is watching it but CN seems hesitant to cancel anything with even a small audience these days without giving it a chance.
On the bright side the longer this show stays semi-relevant the more Charlene porn we will get.
