To give credit where credit is due spencer has spent the bulk of his run walking back a lot of major missteps from the last decade, fixing felicia on her own and her relationship with pete, killing kraven, dealing with aunt may actually attempting to deal with one more day. I'm interested in seeing what happens after the kindred arc is finished. I liked slott before superior so I think that spencer has done a solid job at going back to that form. But we'll se where he wants to go once he gets his statue quo to where he wants it to be

Slott is like Scott Snyder and knew to use Spider-Man for “epic big events” to boost sales. Even when sales dipped, there would either be some big event/crossover or big status quo right around the corner to boost things, often with Slott saying “NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN”.

Spencer has mostly been avoiding Big epic stories until Kraven. He’s mostly been doing a slow build run. He is just now getting involved in a massive Marvel crossover with Absolute Carnage.

Yeah, I've recently been going through the known numbers for some older-but-well-regarded books. A lot of them sold surprisingly low, but the biggest difference compared to today is that half of the Top 100 was usually selling around 45K issues each in the late 1990s. Today the Top 50 sell around 34K each.
Hell, Yea Forums favourites like Starman sold 31K in 1997, and Hitman sold 27K

Probably less or slightly above 110k, which which seems a fair bit lower than #1 and #2.
