“Redpilled She-Ra”
Reactionaries of Yea Forums I need your help. I love the concept of She-Ra (female-focused fantasy action adventure) but I hate the execution (flat art style, fridgemode bodies, SJW themes, inconsistent tone, disdain for the source material)
So I want to make my own girly fantasy with blackjack and hookers; a story that embraces being campy and over the top without mocking/subverting itself, character designs that aren’t afraid to be attractive, and a heroine who draws strength from being feminine instead of trying to be a “man with boobs”. Themes would include the importance of tradition and taking responsibility for your actions.
So what are some themes/characters/plots you’d want to see?
It might be redpilled but remember that it’s still female-centric with a girly aesthetic. Male characters obviously exist, but girls and women drive the story.

I'm not sure what you want from us. I agree that what you're proposing would be better than soi-ra, but your details are pretty vague for us to suggest to you plots and characters. That's sort of your job since it's your fanfiction and we don't know the slightest thing about the setting beyond it being vaguely She-Ra like so we have nothing to build on with suggestions. Also there are a lot of tumblrcunts here who will just shit on any suggestions and derail any conversation anyway. You would have been better off developing a concept a bit more and just presenting it as it's own thing instead of selling it as an anti-SJW She-Ra which will just lead to political bickering. Show, don't tell, in other words. And then once you give us something to work with we could have suggested new things we'd like to see.

Caring for a home really can feel deeply fulfilling, but I'm not sure how you'd translate that to a cartoon.

The problem with thaditional values is that those don't say "you CAN do that" but "you HAVE TO do that" and no one likes to be told what to do. You can show a traditional housewife but saying that's the ideal path is very hard to do and traditional upkeeping means to enforce old ways.

Make her only have superpowers when she's with child. She goes back to being a normal girl between births. So she always has to stay barefoot and pregnant in order to defeat the villains.
I guess (in my experience, She-Ra fans were more than willing to talk about the show both good and bad) but even then, this premise is just terrible. Other than the fact that it contradicts itself, this has no substance behind it. It wants to own the essjaydubyas first and be a story later.

If you just want her to be super feminine base it on stuff for little girls like Barbie princess movies then make it sexier. But remember feminine is not a true character trait unless you want your MC to shop for dresses and makeup the whole story

The problem is that according to Western feminine ideals, she wouldn't be you standard action-adventure protagonist. You'd be looking at something closer to a trickster than a classic hero, someone who uses her wiles, flattery, station, and politeness to manipulate and misdirect her enemies. Action would be taken by others at her behest or setup, and any direct action on her part against her enemies would be subtle or in the form of a coup de grace. Given the setup you want, you're not looking for an action-adventure show, what you want is closer to a spy thriller.

They kind of do, though. In Sailor Moon the transformation device is a makeup kit that gives them new lipstick, nailpolish, and eyeliner. The sequence to turn to their more powerful form is literally called Moon Prism Power MAKEUP. And as a backup example, shows like Shugo Chara and Pretear focus around transforming into varieties of cute outfits as enhancements for their strength. They literally get different powers from different kinds of cute outfits.

My comment was a refutation of the statement 'magical girls don't power up by being cute', which has jackshit to do with themes of matriarchy or feminism in Sailor Moon. Obviously Sailor Moon is aimed at young girls so it focuses on themes that younger girls would like. It wouldn't be ideal to OP's idea but like I said, that doesn't have anything to do with what I was saying.
I'm very lost on your chain of though, being more femenine in Sailor Moon is a byproduct of transforming, not the cause of it.

The art style is rough (kind of cost-saving lazy) a lot but the girls are pretty qt on their own.
