And I don't think it's fair to cherry-pick Shrek, which had a lot of visual advancements in cgi animation technology. Sure, it's true that the color palette for the film isn't the most visually striking, but isn't that obviously what they were going for? Shrek's world is down-to-earth with whimsical fairy tale creatures, they wanted to stick to earth tones and focus peoples attention to the detail of their new technological capabilities. But even then Shrek does have more varied colorful some good visually striking color palettes in scenes that are supposed to be other wordly, like the dragon's keep.
Maybe they're could be a point comparing east to west use of color, but this isn't the way to do it. Just posting some anime screenshots or promotional material and cherry-picking a scene from one cgi movie.
He's a blowhard with only opinionated nonarguments and hypocritical criticisms.
