Has there ever been a time a show came back after a hiatus or cancellation and actually ended up being BETTER than it was before?

Madness Combat if that counts.
Pic unrelated I hope.
This. neu samurai jack was terrible
Beavis and Butthead is the only one I think can be argued for. The revival was just as good as the original, arguably better because it was more consistent.
Wait what? Beavis and Butthead came back? When?
I know people will think I'm baiting, but pic related. And I'm not saying that this show is fantastic, but it is way better than the original which is stilted, awkward, and has really clunky dialogue, animation, and line readings.
>no arguments
>proceeds to shit on the original
2/10 bait made me post
it started off very strong though
Like a thousand years ago.
2011 i think
If you only count the first three episodes then pic related.
I dont think reboots count. But if this does then Thundercats 2011 takes it
Thundercats 2011 ended up being crap though
I understand your frustration.
More people need to know that it still holds up.
Ducktales 2017
>samurai jack
>better
Twin Peaks: The Return
It was only crap because it got canceled before we got any satisfying resolution.
The redesigned characters and animation were great, the voice acting was fantastic, even the music was nice.
All it needed was more episodes.
Ninjago
The real "good reboot Thunder[animal] show" Is Thunderbirds. But reboots aren't what OP's asking about.
Fucking this. Lynch revolutionized television back in the early 90s, took a nice long smoke break, and then came back 25 years later to fuck it in the ass again.
Agreed
it had no business being that good, and I definitely wasn't ready for it
Shows often don’t get to come back after a hiatus, so there aren’t really too many case studies here
I dunno if Reboot season 4 was better, but I liked it well enough.
It had some interesting ideas - it retroactively made Bob a pacifist who could have has Megabyte and Hexidecimal wiped out easily back in season 1. It expands on why Dot is quite hardened and motivated to rebuild the city. Daemon just wasn't that interesting a villain, but its nice they did something new.
What are some animated shows that did come back?
Hey Arnold!
Rocko's Modern Life
Samurai Jack
Invader Zim
Beavis and Butthead
Daria
What else?
Horse show
Twin Peaks The Return
Family Guy
Such a good remake
Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab both have clear cut "revival" seasons where the quality notably went down
the show is good but theres just a little problem.
She-ra as the main character is BORING.
but the villains are awesome, jesus I WISH this show was the ''Catgirl and her friends show''
>m-muh webby pandering
>m-muh snarky humor
lol no
He-Man is the winner of reboot
No.
The issue was it was still on MTV and the MTV audience is completely different then it was in the 90s.
The revival would have worked great on CC or AS even though being on MTV is one of their main gags.
The art style looks so bland on this, is it actually good? Half the characters in this image are basically making the same stupid Dreamworks face.
I love that some insane person at Starz just gave David Lynch the money to do whatever the fuck he wanted. The world is a better place for it.
came here to post this
it's not TERRIBLE, the animation was as good as it was before, and it started out strong. it was just the whole ashi thing and the "jack-finally-got-back-to-the-past" thing that was rushed and terrible.
the argument is that the new one doesn't have those faults and doesn't bring any new faults bad enough for it to not be significantly better than the original
but hey why attempt to comprehend what you're reading when you can just shitpost all day
g
the rushed conclusion would have been a lot better if they had just replaced ashi with the guardian's portal as Jack's method for going back to the past. A show like Samurai Jack shouldn't have a drawn out, convoluted finale IMO
Oggy and the Cockroaches
no it didnt
>he doesn't remember Lynch getting fired
Starz was about to royally fuck it up and the fans saved The Return

Most of the characters in that image are not very relevant because it only shows the good side. The evil side gets a lot of focus and each character gets a lot of development.
No, they can all be argued for at the very least.
First post best post.
We want to see it come back again. Somebody cancelled it a 2nd time for whatever reason.
Modern MTV audiences didn't understand it
They were probably too upset about there being no more music videos. MTV branching out actually created some good stuff desi
At some point they’re really going to need to let that go.
Samurai Jack desu
is the Thunderbirds reboot actually any good?
t. massive Gerry Anderson fan for quarter of a century
Actually iirc they didn't understand why they were making fun of their favorite show Jersey Shore
Really? I doubt Beavis and Butthead was the only ones doing that though.
