Serious question: How would you anons rate the finale of Infinity Train?

Some people are saying its great while others say it's trash.

It was merely OK, like the whole series.

Was good, probably because it ended way before it got worse like some other shows.

Hopefully they learned something about pacing and plotting a 110-minute series and the second try will be better.

trash/10
after the emotional high of the episode before it fell completely flat

I didn't like the ending itself, I would prefer something better than time skip. I like the resolution itself, it fit the themes, but some people just want robot action instead and it's OK.

I enjoyed it, but feel like it could have been a bit longer. There was a lot to take in all at once and a lot of answers to be revealed. I think it's cool that they're supposedly making more, but they already wrapped up the core mystery and established antagonist, so I'm curious what the hook will be now.

Who's got a mega link for the series?

8/10

The pacing doesn't seem to actualy be an issue, if it is bingewatched
so that's not it.

An inside source say that Owen would have wanted more episode for season 1, though, but CN wanted a 2 episode a day on week-day, show final on friday, so he was limited to 10.

>they already wrapped up the core mystery
There's still plenty more to answer though. Where the train comes from, where it is, who made it, etc.

It was a bit meh. I was expecting some sort of mystery puzzle for the finale, but it was simply spoiled by the cat with the video tape.

It was fine.

I don't think those are things worth focusing on. Yes, they can dump something on us, but it has little point. The resolution wasn't bad, but it took away uncertainty, we didn't know what awaits Tulip, so we had to experience part of her anxiety. Someone else lost on the therapy train won't have the same impact.

It can still work in some different way, but personally I think it's better off being over.

Part of me thinks that they shouldn't answer where the train came from.

It feels like one of those supernatural entities that just exists without clear explanation, as opposed to it being an abandoned alien vehicle or a science experiment gone wrong or something.

>The pacing doesn't seem to actualy be an issue, if it is bingewatched
Well too bad that's not how it was structured or aired.

All show are made to be bingewatched, nowadays.

Is it supernatural though? The "bigger on the inside" nature of the cars seems to be generated by the orbs. It all seems to be machinery. Amelia was able to hijack the engine by kicking the real control unit (1-1) out.

In fiction it's basically the same, whenever you call it magic or particles or something else.

But machinery has to be built (i.e. have an origin) whereas something supernatural doesn't (e.g. the other world in Over the Garden Wall)

Yeah but it still teleported in out of nowhere, knows things about its passengers that it shouldn't know, has no apparent end, and strands those who try to escape in a Salvador Dali styled wasteland.

If it has no apparent end, how was Tulip able to travel to it?

She found the beginning of the train. Who knows how far it goes in the other direction?

i enjoyed it a great deal. moreso than anything else i've seen on CN lately. i think it would have benefited from another 10 episodes or so, but they still did fine with what they had aside from some minor pacing issues. also would have preferred the Conductor's true nature not be revealed, though i can see why they did it.

really looking forward to S2, and as much as i enjoyed this one i have full faith in their ability to learn from this season and strengthen the weaker points.

I'd rate the finale 2/10 and the show 7/10.

It's surrounded by giant soul-sucking cockroaches.

Meh.

It's fine I guess.

I fucking hated it. It was so fucking annoying when it could have been fun. That divorce shit was cringeworthy and then doing that shit with the woman who lost her husband, jesus fucking christ. Tulip was awful, one-one was that shitty type of comic relief that shows up during heavy scenes just to make a quick joke, and Atticus was the only character I actually liked.

Owen, never write a female character again in your life.

Better than I was expecting. A 22 minute runtime would've helped it a lot though and overall I really enjoyed the series. More than I was expecting to really.

It was apparent from the beginning that none of the mysteries would lead anywhere, and the finale confirmed it.

It was solid 7.5/10

Just keep it vague ala Silent Hill 2
"The Setting is Weird, and that's it. The story is in going through the weird thing."
You don't have people trying to explain Alice in Wonderland (fuck off Tim Burton/Disney), you don't have people trying to explain Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory (fuck off Tim Burton/Warner Bros), no one wanted or needed a detailed history on how and why Samurai Jack's future was so weird, or how Kids Next Door's world really worked.

It was just fun adventures and good story.

>That divorce shit was cringeworthy and then doing that shit with the woman who lost her husband, jesus fucking christ.
I don't see any issue with it. especially the divorce, who is actually written realistically.

I don't think Tulip was awful. In the end, she is an okay kid who reacted normally to the situation she was in.

It's bad because of the insistence on creating a practically new villain in the span of two 10 minute episodes and expecting the audience to sympathize with her in that time. This was Tulip's journey, why is a random old lady sharing the climax with a character we've been with this whole time? This is one of the times where it's VERY clear that a one-dimensional villain would've been the better option. You have a miniseries with laser focus on a single person to get across the message. There's no need for it to be reiterated in the form of the villain as a "what would happen if you don't" type of deal. It's redundant and disrespectful to the audience's comprehension of it.

Also everything about mirror Tulip irks me. Her episode offered nothing of value and her not being there after the events of the train gives less ambiguity and raises irrelevant questions that distract from the core theme.

>It's bad because of the insistence on creating a practically new villain in the span of two 10 minute episodes and expecting the audience to sympathize with her in that time
They actually managed to do it. So it's good. also, he is not new in the last two episode; the Conductor was introduced in episode 5 and the Steward already appeared in episode 3.

>They actually managed to do it
No they didn't. If they did we wouldn't have this thread.
>not new
I said "practically". We already knew the conductor was the villain, but introducing a new trait that's this important so late in the game? That's just bad writing. We're supposed to care enough so that the line "I don't want a life without Ulric" is supposed to mean something, but it doesn't. It's just something you'd hear a middle aged lady say as you pass her by the street. We don't have the same connection to her dilemma as we do with Tulip's.

There's a reason Tulip never met any other people on the train, and it was to avoid this. As I said, a mini series needs to be focus on few character in order to work. Needlessly tacking on another character, OR another facet of an existing one, that introduces more plot-relevant things distracts the viewer and the message. Tulip, our main character, the one who's teaching us the lesson/theme, learned nothing from knowing the conductor was a person that she wasn't already on the verge of discovering herself. Her number was already decreasing. No need to find out what it means from someone else when she's already so close herself.

>If they did we wouldn't have this thread.
Not everyone agree, but all in all the reception is positive. Especially for people who binged the show. see >I said "practically". We already knew the conductor was the villain, but introducing a new trait that's this important so late in the game?
It's quite an usual narrative rhythm. Revealing the true nature of the villain close to the end. Not an issue, there.

For the user constantly spamming this i must say NO.
Bingewatching this show doesn't fix the big pacing issues it has, it just feels like a broken movie by watching it that way. Stop that, just stop.

The show's reception is positive. The finale's is not.
The "true nature" of the villain is still unresolved. Why was she attacking Tulip? Is her target One-One? Why drag along an innocent bystander if so? Her "true" goals are so disconnected with what we thought we knew of the conductor it literally makes no sense. I don't understand why you're in such denial that the finale was bad. You haven't even offered any arguments of your own. Just liking it isn't enough of an argument. Unless you're underage and think liking something means you can't criticize it.

I thought she just wanted to keep Tulip from putting One One back in the pilot's seat.

>The finale's is not.
The final is too.

>The "true nature" of the villain is still unresolved.
It is.
>Why was she attacking Tulip?
To prevent her from returning 1-1
>Is her target One-One?
Preventing it from getting back to the head train.
>Her "true" goals are so disconnected with what we thought we knew of the conductor it literally makes no sense.
Okay, I think the issue is that you are to stupid to not get a plot that is quite clear. Not the show's fault.

>. I don't understand why you're in such denial that the finale was bad.
because it isn'T. Good final fight good tension, good resolution, satisfying ending.
< You haven't even offered any arguments of your own.
You haven't yourself beforehand.

My arguments are
>new/more motives for villain
>villain redundantly portraying more the same plot as Tulip
>villain's new motivations are poorly developed, leading to questions for old motivations
>all of this muddles the execution of the theme

Why did the conductor turn Atticus into a Ghom? Why did she almost kill Tulip? If she only wanted One-One why did she attack the others instead of offering an alternative? Which brings me to your point about preventing One-One from getting to the engine. We saw the cat trade him for Tulip's help in the third episode, planning on bringing him to the conductor, but all of sudden now the conductor doesn't want him? Why did the Steward run away instead of attacking him? Or capturing him? It's just a sloppy clusterfuck that doesn't make sense because of that one episode.

Also you've still yet to lay out any points of your own. So far you've only offered opinions with no explanation. WHY do you like the ending? WHY do you think it's satisfying with a good resolution? You're obviously seeing something I'm missing. The least you could do is share your thoughts. I'm genuinely curious.

No, fuck you, that's not how a mini series works.
It's like asking Over the Garden Wall to get a second season despite the story being over.
IT getting a second season means we just see characters go through the same story all over again

I wanna know who those other people on the screen in the engine room are and about their scores.

2/10
overall the series is probably a five but the ending was really, really shitty

I'm surprised this show got away with ripping off Adventure Time twice. One with the train concept in the first place, and the second time with singing a heartfelt song to open a door.

Ulric was my best friend's name growing up. His dad commited suicide. Ten years later, his brother did the same on the anniversary of their father's death. A few months after, Ulric offed himself as well. So the fact that Amelia's husband's name is Ulric and he's dead kinda fucked my head in a little. Just a tad.

It's just bizarre to hear that name in English-language programming, especially in an American kids' show.

I think this is one mini-series that could have used a longer series
You'd have a lot more to work with the setting in mind. You'd also have a lot more opportunities to build things up and flesh the entire setting out

One user was begging that we learn more about the train--but honestly, we don't need that--we just need more puzzles and situations that test a little girl's emotional maturity other than having her dog die

The train built itself.

It was worse than the frog finale thats for sure.
