Pissed that there was no new MvC announcement on EVO

With the moderate success of MUA 3, I was expecting Capcom and Marvel to try one more go at it. But nope. Keep milking the SFV cow and until it's udders are raw.

Nice
Keep these kusoge games dead

my premise for the new mvc would start off with Spider-Man doing his daily patrol swinging across when he notices a stray dog looking at him saying "Devour" and it morphs into Necalli. Spider-Man fights him and seemingly gets the upper hand until Necalli goes into his Torrent/Eruption of Power mode and Spidey gets beaten. Then Miles shows up to assist his mentor and they fight Necalli to a standstill. Necalli turns into mud and retreats. Miles asks who was that "Angry Mr Bill?” Peter responds by asking Miles how does he know about Mr. Bill.
Morales sheepishly responds that his dad had Blu-rays of SNL. They head to the Sanctum Sanctorum for Doctor Strange's help. Turns out Stephen has a guest who knows about Necalli. It's Dhalsim.

Cool autism
No one cares

Other ideas include:
-Shadaloo trying to take over New York only to be stomped by the Avengers
- The Guardians of The Galaxy joining forces with Hayato, Jun, Ele, Saturn, and Gamof to stop Bilstein and The Magus.
- Conan battling Akuma
- The X-Men, Alpha Flight, and Chris Redfield versus Wesker and an army Wendigo/Nemesis hybrids.

I was actually glad they didn't announce anything. to me MVC is one step above Smash

Eh

Infinite killed the franchise
I want a Capcom vs Capcom game they have the audience and characters for it

Won't work as a fighting game.

>I want a Capcom vs Capcom game
They already did that, but you didn't buy it the first time.

Yeah that game was a hot mess.

Capcom never releases the good / definitive version of a fighting game the first time. They rely on consumer feedback to gauge interest and patch problems in later revisions. If you and a bunch of others had given that title the time of day then Capcom sure as shit would've put out a much better product.

Problem is that 3D games were on the rise in the mid 2000s with Capcom's fighting game division hitting a slump.

The mouse still has too much control over Marvel, since they now represent Disney. They only want current projects represented in a game that's going to get such massive exposure to potential movie goers, and X-Men are effectively dead in the MCU until sometime in the mid-late 2020's. A little mono-console release shit-game like MUA3? They can let that slide. Something that's going to be streamed all ove the place and seen in big tourney venues like EVO? Hell no, MUST represent the MCU.

Capcom Fighting Jam was hot garbage, the amount of reused assets in that game was ridiculous. At least in MvC they all used the Alpha/Darkstalkers artstyle, the badly resized SF2 sprites in Fighting Jam were disgusting.

They only hit a slump because nobody knew what the fuck to do next. Capcom, SNK, Midway, ArcSys, Namco, Hudson, Sega, and Tecmo were eating shit for following the 3D trend and kept hoping that the PS2's astronomical sales would help push units even if the half-baked product wasn't good.

It took both Street Fighter Collections outselling new IPs to convince everyone that people don't want gimmick shit fighters and just want to have fun in a mostly balanced game. But now we're headed back to that trend with titles that cater to the FGC without most of the FGC liking them, only playing them out of necessity because there's usually a 100k+ pot attached.

I am happy to experience Capcom going full old Elvis and shitting itself over and over again while trying to desperatly stay relevant in the FGC. Thanks to that, practically everyone decided to take advantage of it and publish games. Look at latest EVO for fuck sake. Samurai Shodown, Tekken, Blazblue, Soul Calibur, all sharing the same stage. I'm very optimistic about this next Capcom-less era.
It's a good chance for them to improve tho. DMC and RE were franchises believed to be fucking dead but they were brought back. Perhaps they should tackle the fighting genre again, but with a fresh mind and a new IP...like Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, ah, one can dream.

Ugggghhh
Capcom is stuck in the old ways

>Alpha Flight
you're already asking for to much

Only as npcs

Namco wasn't doing badly at all other than arguably Tekken 4, the fuck are you on?

>moderate success

is a piece of shit

What I like about these games are their slight continuity. Characters talking to each other like they're friends is cool as hell to me. Have Viewtiful Joe join the avengers or something, shit like that

I dunno what they could do for a story after mvci though. They might just ditch a campaign altogether or make an oc villain.

I wasn't expecting a MvC4 but a new version of MvC2 would net Marvel and Capcom money. They both signed off on that Capcom/Marvel cabinet.
