Even by the Zombie Simpson standards, the movie is awful

I hadn't watched the Simpsons movies in many years and thought it was meh, now that I happened to see it on TV, I realize how fucking awful it's. It's the definition of soulless; it has nothing going for it. Not a single gag has any rewatchability, while many jokes from the Classic Simpsons still hold up.
And as a movie, it doesn't take advance of its larger budget, it might as well have been a two-part episode.
It also has pedantic errors that reek of writers who just don't give a fuck:
>Comic Book Guy and Mr. Burns are shown in the church
They clearly just wanted to fulfill the church with recurring characters, but when you put CBG and Burns there becomes odd because these characters are all but religious.
>Flanders shows up in his home when Bart leaves to skate for Krusty Burger, but when he arrives there, Flanders is already there
This is pedantic, but still...
>Simpson residence is next to the border of Springfield
Which it never was, but hey, the shitty writing demands it.

The movie just isn't really a Simpsons type of story at all. It's some generic Hollywood plotline with some Simpsons characters dropped lazily into it.

When will the “Simpsons used to be good” meme finally end? Fans have always (ALWAYS) hated new episodes, but then 90s kids flooded the fanbase, (wow ha ha MONORAIL, STEAMED HAMS, XD, this’ll never ever ever EVER EVER EVER EVER get tiring!) and it makes me hate whatever I found good in the original seasons all the more. The Simpsons can never be remotely watchable again, the fans can never be remotely human again, and fuck anyone who still cares about this rotting corpse that stands for EVERYTHING wrong with modern television!

I remember watching the movie back in 07 and was disappointed by it too. Throw in Green Day and Spider Piggy. Easily forgettable. Now you want to know what cartoon movie is pretty decent? The 2004 Spongebob Movie.

Shut up retard.

I'll disagree. this movie is funny as fuck. It does take advantage of its budget. There's shit they could never have done in the TV show. The writers very much did care. If you listened to the commentary, you'd know. I find it so ridiculous that you think the writers decided who would be in the background of shots. The Simpsons Residence changes wherever it can be. How is it shitty writing? Springfield changes every other episode.

I never got the hate for the Simpsons Movie. It was like an extremely good episode that just came out of nowhere when new episodes at the time were pretty bland and mediocre.

You're saying that 90s kids have superior taste than the ones who always complained about Seasons 1-11?

It was very dull and played it way too safe.

I watched 5 minutes of the movie and gave up. Everyone sounded tired in it, it was depressing.

The rock and a hard place gag was cute, though.

The animation was nice and the voice acting excellent, other than that it was very uninteresting and bland.

It's amazing that despite all the shit in this movie you managed to do nothing but bitch about the minor details that don't fucking matter instead.

I did they say they were pedantic, yet the small things make up the larger picture.

I love the movie

Don't post two completely contradictory claims right after one another.

>>Simpson residence is next to the border of Springfield
To be fair the show's geography has always been inconsistent. It's basically a running gag. Movie was mediocre but still better than the typical episodes coming out at the time (which unfortunately isn't saying much).

They probably blew the budget on the angry mob

it has, but the Simpson house has never shown to be next to a forest. It has always been surrounded by the suburb.

There's no joke here

>The Simpsons can never be remotely watchable again
I introduced some newfag zoomer friends to the first seasons and they are now in love with it.
1-8 simpsons are the best cartoon comedy of all times.

I'd like the movie more if the first part wasn't a fucking filler

Yes there is. Bart is pretending to not want it and Flanders is making it as absurdly enticing as possible.

A joke is supposed to be funny.

It is funny. In my theater, people laughed at this scene.

The problem is that Burns is the natural villain for a movie, and Burns peaked with the Who Shot Mr. Burns episodes where he went full supervillain.

So it leaves the movie without an anchor if they want to do a big villain story. There's no other existing character who fits the bill. They tried with the Russ Cargill character, but it didn't really work because he's just a shittier retread of the Hank Scorpio character Brooks previously played.

Also they bafflingly made Schwarzenegger President when the show already has a longtime Schwarzenegger parody character they could have used. Just lots of weird choices like that.

It really did feel like a couple of unrelated ideas they just bolted together.

>Also they bafflingly made Schwarzenegger President when the show already has a longtime Schwarzenegger parody character they could have used. Just lots of weird choices like that.
That was intentional because focus testing found that non-Simpsons fans didn't know who Rainer Wolfcastle was.

That makes sense but it's disappointing. I guess there's always going to be a tension between fans and the general audience, but it sucks they couldn't find a way to draw on the show's rich history. It made the final product feel soulless.

he takes the kindness of a christian and then in return says the Lord's Name in vain. even cletus would get the joke.

This is exactly what I meant with jokes that are mildly amusing only the first time. OG Simpsons would have had ten jokes in that same scene, but Zombie Simpsons have long build-ups and meh deliver, much like Family Guy jokes.
>NPCs considered it funny, thus it was funny

Imagine pandering to half-fits who are going to watch this movie without knowing anything about The Simpsons and somehow still retarded enough not make a connection between him and Arnie

>Can't stand how insufferable and horrible Homers written
I get that Homer can be a jerk and this was meant to be his redemption story, but Homer in this movie acts way too much like a total cunt and makes him more selfish than he actually is. He feels more like Peter than Homer

I'd bet that was intentional. The movie was 2007 when Family Guy was mega-popular and Simpsons was deep into its decline. There was probably a feeling that they had to be edgier to appeal to audiences at the time.

All anybody cared about was spider pig. Nobody remembers anything from that movie apart from that and Bart getting his dick out.

Sneed

Idiot millennial, Sponge Bob is just Zombie Simpsons for babies.

therealjims said it best, its jerkass homer the movie

I’m surprised the movie wasn’t nominated for an Oscar; not because it deserved it, but b/c The Simpsons are such a cultural icon I thought they’d automatically get the honor like they do at the Emmys every year.

It's pretty good. The worst thing about it is the little changes they had to make to appease the focus testers who didn't watch the show.
>Moe's Bar
>President Schwarzenegger
>not Hank Scorpio

That scene where Marge tapes over their wedding video is one of the hardest hitting emotional moments in the history of the show. Apparently they had Julie Kavner do like 70 takes of that speech, so her voice is cracking like she's actually spent hours crying. Not all the jokes have aged that well, stuff like Spider-Pig and Green Day date it a bit, but it's still a net positive.
>"I'm Tom Hanks, if you see me in public, please leave me be."
>Homer eating the shrimp
>The Itchy and Scratchy Movie
>"TOUGH, TOUGH, SOFT, TOUGH, SOFT, SOFT, TOUGH"
>"Okay, hail emperor"
>"YOU'RE THE SEVEN PEOPLE I'M GOING TO MEET IN HELL"
>that entire gag in the gas station with Bart vandalizing the wanted poster
>"SOMEBODY THROW THE GOD DAMNED BOMB"
>Bomb disposal robot

That's also why the original villain was replaced by a new character (it was going to be Hank Scorpio)

>Moe's Bar
Might have forgotten but what'd they do to Moe's bar? And yeah I agree the wedding video thing was pretty good.

The 'Sop' sign bit always stuck with me for some reason

Formerly good

They changed the sign from just "MOE'S" to "MOE'S BAR", even though its full name is actually "Moe's Tavern". Little things that are basically just aesthetic details, but are still annoying if you're a longtime fan. I was like 12 when it came out and even I rolled my eyes, considering I watched The Simpsons 3 times a day every day since I was 7 (FOX Philly at 6, either that or FOX 5 at 6:30 depending on the episode, then FOX 5 at 7:00 again, and for a new episode on Sundays).
Good times.

evej by the sneed sneed feed the feed is seed sneed

ftfy BASED

literal autist lmao

The BurgerKing commercial and all the promotions around it were better than the actual movie

Okay zoomer

how fucking wide they wanted the focus group of this to be when the fan base alone is enormous?
>>not Hank Scorpio
good, Hank Scorpion is too good for this Zombie Simpsons, better not to ruin him.
>That scene where Marge tapes over their wedding video is one of the hardest hitting emotional moments in the history of the show.
I have no words of how stupid that statement is.

I agree. It didn't feel like the Simpsons. I expected something along the lines of "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" Instead, we get one big PSA about saving the environment.

Attached: tired.jpg (500x372, 16K)

Romance subplot with Colin was fucking stupid

>Julie Kavner's voice cracking in a way we've never heard it before
>scene gets gradually less comedic as Homer realizes what's happening
>brings back Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear
It's a good scene, user

>Zombie Simpsons
Literally all but 2 or 3 of the people who wrote the movie were from the Golden Age. You can not enjoy the movie if you want but calling it Zombie Simpsons is just factually inaccurate.

I just feel nothing, funny because OG Simpsons are full of sad scenes that still make shed a tear.

I saw it with a friend I didn’t know was on acid at the time, he said it taught him to love again. I thought it was alright

That’s actually very sweet

All I know is that the kid who wasn't Bono's son also wasn't any iota crucial to the plot of the film.

Seriously, it's like they only added him to the film to give Lisa something to do.

And yet it's clearly a zombie. What was will never be again, even if you bring back the old writers.

>Mr. Burns in the church

Attached: 407372.gif (480x360, 625K)

Maybe it's a nostalgia thing?
I saw the movie when I was in middle school and that scene hits me just as hard as something like Mother Simpson.

The biggest tearjerker moment for me is still a three-way tie between Bart Gets an F, the end of Marge Be Not Proud, and the end of Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.

sneed

What happened to that Epstein thread about the foot massages? Was that proven false?

sneed kills homer

It was shown surrounded by the Power Plant's parking lot in an episode

>a look inside a sneed poster’s mental state

S'okay.

The thing with that is, it was just Matt Groening receiving a foot massage from a girl who was an actual masseuse. She thought it was a fun memory when she got an illustration from him but nevertheless he had gross feet and thick toe nails.

I know this is bait but explain

I watched the Simpsons Movie in the cinema.

>NPCs
They're people who laughed at a joke you didn't find funny
You're calling people who thought a joke you didn't find funny was funny NPCs
Are you actually retarded

>no one mentions the random eskimo woman
this is the stupidest part of the film imo

Attached: Boob_Lady_Sky.png (420x271, 85K)

I don’t know, I agree that nu simps are not nearly as good as old simps, but I still get entertainment out of watching it if I ever catch it on TV. I remember enjoying that movie. I still remember a few of the gags over a decade since I last saw it, so it’s better than most comedy movies by default.

As I was going through my edgy high school phase I refused to go watch this film because it pissed me off so much that normies like it for "le funny spiderpig song". I watched it as an adult and it wasn't very funny, but it looked good nevertheless. It still had some good classic Simpsons humor, though it's obvious that majority of the people who liked it didn't enjoy it for those parts.

Agreed, I never liked the movie and never understood why people were pretending like it was as good as golden age simpsons

>Monorail
>New episodes

???????

>though it's obvious that majority of the people who liked it didn't enjoy it for those parts
Most pretentious shit I’ve ever had. The majority of people who enjoyed the movie enjoyed it for the comedy. How stuck up your own ass do you have to be to convince yourself that the jokes that YOU laugh at aren’t the same ones that everyone else does. You didn’t even watch the film with an audience.

At what point was I supposed to laugh in these videos?

Based

Please don't spout that shit to me. I remember very clearly when the movie came out and everyone was saying how the spiderpig shit was THE FUNNIEST SHIT EVER and how it was marketed for that kind of audience (families who like shallow slapstick humor and Homer being a retarded dad).

I'm very glad I didn't watch it with an audience because it would have pissed me off even more.

Yes. Thank you OP, I have fucking had it with fucking retards praising the shitty movie as "not as bad as the TV show" when it was objectively one of the most awful animated films of the 00s.

>Newfag that didn't have to deal with spider pig ringtones for an entire year

>>Simpson residence is next to the border of Springfield
>Which it never was, but hey, the shitty writing demands it.
Hasn't this happened repeatedly in the show

>88% critic score on rottentomatoes
>77% audience score on rottentomatoes
Try again tranny.

Marge Be Not Proud fucked me up hard as a kid. That and the one about Bart's soul made me really anxious. Which is weird because religion has never been a big thing in my life.

>score on a film that launched before rotten tomato even existed
>worth anything at all

Rottentomatoes has been around since 98 RETARDED NIGGER NEWFAGGOT TRANNY!

That's just good Simpsons being wacky, it's not the same as zombie simpsons movie.

I've never understood people that watch movies based on TV shows and complain they don't understand anything because they never watched the fucking TV show.

That'd be like if you watched Endgame and complained about not knowing why Iron Man and Spiderman were close.

Simpsons movie wasn’t marketed to people who watched it regularly. It was a family movie.

12 years later and I'm still waiting on muh 3 hours of deleted scenes.

>zombie Simpsons
Nice pop culture reference there, reddit. Mods delete this thread, I called OP "reddit" so I won

Having listened to some of the commentary, that was pretty much what happened

Wtf reported for intentionally spoiling

Focus testing ruined the movie. As another user said, the villain was supposed to be Scorpio but audiences didn't know who he was. There was a bunch of small shit like that.
The sign outside Moe's says Moe's Bar in the movie because audiences complained that they didn't know what Moe's was.

So that's what happened to the part where we see Lisa's...

It's well know that that happened because the dickbag voice director made her redo that part about 45 times. There's supposed to be union rules on how many takes you can perform on a voice actor.

>How stuck up your own ass do you have to be to convince yourself that the jokes that YOU laugh at aren’t the same ones that everyone else does.

also you: WAHHHH STOP POSTING SNEED CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE!!!!

They were also obsessed with keeping the movie PG-13 and not getting an R rating.

zoom zoom

Meh, it was alright

Attached: 1548057400401.png (417x587, 89K)

What nonsense are you even on about?
People who use "soulless" should stick to using it ironically. It was never meant to be a serious descriptor of anything and sounds like a lazy, ham-fisted criticism.

>people who laugh to the equivalent of a fart joke are not NPCs

>audiences complained that they didn't know what Moe's was.
aren't there bars that just called INSERT_NAME's?

Barts penis.

the movie made baby Jesus cry

it was a MeToo falseflag dog whistle but didn't worked (for now)

Um actually, it is.
