This is what happens with the movie studio controls the movie and not the toy company.
This happened with the second G.I. Joe movie -- Hasbro had tons of merch on the shelves and no movie to sell them. By the time the movie came out the toys had been clearanced.

I had playmobil too. I preferred lego overall, but playmobil had much more detailed design in their playsets. Also, the playmobil guns looked cooler. And playmobil had cowboys way before lego.
