I was really looking forward to this show before it aired but I just hate Vic so much.
sure.

What's a good Mexican dish that ends in "oli" so I can make an authentic version of
"Ravioli ravioli..."
I feel bad for this show. It's on par with Amphibia, yet nobody fucking cares. At least when nobody cared about Clarence, I would go, "Sure, it didn't have ADVENTURE and DEEP LORE". But V&V has both and it still can't get an audience.
We already have one:
That's because it does those things poorly.
The writing is incredibly bland and it really doesn't have much going for it.
It has a thicc loli, a spicy mamacita, and a few cool monsters, but those aren't enough to save a show if the writing is boring.
Even Vic and Val themselves hardly seem to care about the weird shit they encounter on their adventures.
If our MC's don't care how can the audience be expected to care?
Also Amphibia might not be the most amazing thing ever, but it's miles better than V&V.
>where's the new episodes, Charlene?
damn boy he thicc
full pic?
I have the same problem with this bitch.
if she doesn't care about returning back home, why should I do? also the frogs are fucking boring and remind me too much of the Pines.
Spelling is off, but you can get the same effect with guacamole.
>guacamole, guacamole, do not lewd the mexi-loli
He, close enough. Thanks!
but please, people, continue to lewd her..just not here
This show is decent
But maybe that's my love of Mexican culture blinding me I don't know.
Putting that side the show has some limited animation but it's not too bad. It really is a meh show that doesn't do much other than give me ideas and inspiration for my own hispanic inspired stories.
Charlene really was the best thing to come out of this show, but at least the rest of it wasn't aggravating.
>just not here
I made a thread on /qa/ for Yea Forums lolis, and they seem open to it.
Beaners
There were at least a few times when Anne was trying to find a way back home.
That's why they went to the archives, why Anne and Sprig went to the bazaar to see if anyone knew about the box, that's why Anne brought up the box to Hop Pop in the first place.
Plus, the mountains are still frozen over, so it's not like she can really go anywhere.
Still, I do wish there were -more- episodes focusing on here wanting to get back home.
I kinda like Mexican cartoon, they are funny
>if she doesn't care about returning back home, why should I do?
Confirmed you didn't watch the show, or you're dumb enough to don't notice the fact Anne has been trying actively to get back home (yet not constantly, and that's ok, characters shouldn't be written around just one single motivation).
I actually like that they don't give a fuck about the supernatural stuff beyond how they can benefit from it. I'm talking about the soccer ball ghost, the aluxes, hurricane chata, the magic hair tonic, the warp flute, etc. I find it refreshing that they're not trying to solve a bigger mystery like every cartoon today and are just trying to get the most out of their summer, it certainly avoids the comparison with Gravity Falls.
even in episodes without supernatural stuff like when they had Xochi for a babysitter, when they sabotaged the other churro carts and escaping Guillermo's birthday party, Vic & Val joined forces for a common goal and that's just so satisfying with sibling MCs, especially with ones that fight so much like them, I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the season they decide to say in Monte Macabre permanently, just to have more weird adventures.
After seeing the pilot, I believed V&V was going to be CN's most successful show out of the batch of upcoming ones. After the first ten episodes, that belief was dashed.
It's not the romp through Mesoamerican myth that it was purported to be, and it's not really slice-of-life either. It's a heap of mediocrity on top of a potentially fun premise.
I’ve never seen anybody take this stance on Vic and Val’s lax behavior toward the supernatural. You make some pretty good points.
The show could do with making Victor more likable, though. It lacks what made Regular Show capable of making Rigby a lovable jerk.
did vic do something?
He's just really annoying and his VA (the showrunner) is inexperienced.
Why do showrunners do this? If you dont have the chops to be a voice actor, then dont voice the main character of your fucking show.
>If Justin Roiland and Alex Hirsch can do it, so can I!
That's...an interesting way of seeing it.
Never thought about that.
I still wish they had some interest in the supernatural things they encountered like they had in the pilot.
Well, most cartoon protagonists are self-inserts of their creators. And since voicing your own self-insert has worked out many times over the years (Seth MacFarlane as Brian Griffin, JG Quintel as Mordecai, Walt Disney as Mickey Mouse), it’s easy for a showrunner to believe they have the ability to do the same.
Coupled with that is the fact that nearly all of these showrunners have experience mimicking voices when pitching their scripts or storyboards, or even as temp voices before doing official retakes in post-production. Some have experience voicing some of their own characters for independent short films or student films they’ve made in the past.
After enough practice doing this, it’d make sense for many creators to wanna try their hand at real voice acting. Most times, it does work out pretty well, but other times—*cough*Victor and Valentino*cough*—not so much.
They keep forgetting the ACTING part. You can have a thousand and one silly voices, but if you can't emote, enunciate, and whatever other acting terms there are, it's useless. Stick to doing background characters.
Why can't chicano's get Mexican culture right?
>Stick to doing background characters
I cannot stress this enough for amateurs like Diego, but can you list some other examples of show creators voicing main characters poorly? I’m trying to think of some, but most creators tend to be surprisingly good VAs.
