Some actual News about the shows. Looks like several of Sony's T.V. series will be live action adaptions. Those are very far off, but closer is the animated series/anthology which ties to ITSV directly. No Network has been stated yet, but Netflix seems like the obvious choice. There may also be some backdoor dealing with Disney to see if they might be interested in hosting for Disney +. Not sure they'd go for it though since they wouldn't have complete control of it.
The last time we had a live action Spidey series was back in the 70s(?). Interested in watching it? Or would you prefer to stick to animated outings like Spectacular, ITSV, Ultimate, 2017, etc.
And yes you can still post your awful ideas for the sequel and everyone will tell you as much.
>that one episode where peni and gwen take a vacation to the beach and still have to fight crime in their swimsuits but in the end they are happy they at least spent some girl time together
Adam Price
What? They're making TV spinoffs of the Spiderverse movie?
Parker Jenkins
One of the first things announced after the movie came out. I knew about the ITSV show, but I'm curious to what the live action adaptions are going to be?
Even so it would keep the series in house on all fronts. Netflix would be ok. Placing the shows on Disney + would probably solidify Sony and The Mouse being in bed together. I'd prefer it on T.V. though.
Probably some loop hole in the Disney deal, Like how they can't use Spider-man in any of their live action Super Hero films unless the deal wears off and they don't wish to renegotiate. They got around that one by making ITSV. The article said Spider-man also wouldn't be showing up in any of the Live action shows? But they had abouut roughly 900 Spider-tangent characters to make use of. And again that animation loop hole means Spidey is going to be prominent in those Spin-offs.
I'm real curious is things like Clones also fall into that loophole meaning we could get live action Scarlet Spiders Ben and Kaine along with obvious stuff like Jessica Drew, Silk, Miles, Maybe even Superior Spider-man.
What T.V. network would even be willing to pick it up? And with the way modern T.V. shows are could the animated series be aired on American T.V. without being altered or neutered in some way?
Cartoon Network would keep it mostly unmolested. They might not be able to use real guns but they'd leave the writing and humor intact.
Jordan Brooks
According to the 2011 deal (written around the same time USM was in development) Sony are allowed to make a TV-show under the condition that the episodes are at least 40 minutes long. So instead of the standard season length of 26 episodes at 20 minutes, they could exploit a loophole that would allow them to make 13 episodes that are 40 minutes long each, just with A and B stories.
By the way, couldn't find it before but here's the exact wording regarding what they have to do in regards to TV shows: >RIGHTS: SPE has the exclusive right to utilize the “Spider-Man” character and the other >Creative Elements listed in Paragraph 1 above to (a) develop and produce live action or animated theatrical motion pictures (each, a “Picture”) and live-action television series (and also animated television series with episodes longer than 44 minutes), during the Production Term, and (b) distribute, advertise and otherwise exploit in perpetuity any motion picture or television series that commenced production during the Production Term. >Television Series. Animated logo, bug logo and 3 EP credits, if Marvel is required to give EP credit to Stan Lee, otherwise, 2 EP credits.
There's a bunch of other bullshit in regards to characterisation they have to follow (like Peter Parker has to be a straight white male who isn't a pedophile). It's all here if you want to read it.
Doesn't the scene write itself? >locker room >silk talks shit to gwen >gwen says pete prefers big tits >silk fondles gwen saying she is the one who''s small >gwen slaps her hand away and chest bumps silk into the shower where they wrestle as convenient soap bubbles keep it christian
Angel Walker
>Looks like several of Sony's T.V. series will be live action adaptions. Once again, Sony fucks up.
Blake Reyes
What if peter parker is a kid? Keep the ship alive.
Wyatt Robinson
Only way live-action'd be worth it would be recreating 70s toku for either a Toei Spidey show or a Peni Parker show, like something out of Danger 5
which they obviously won't do it
Dominic Cox
An Into the Peni-Verse would be great. If a comic accurate live action Peni ran into movie Peni and it was like a Roger Rabbit style combo of animation and live action it'd be great
They'd probably just make it the same Peni, but the SP//DR design might have to change to more like the comics in this scenario- I imagine the movie's version isn't as easy to do suitmation with
Brayden Lewis
Sony has no direct place to showcase that stuff, so it first has to sell it someone; perhaps Disney+ but they run a tight ship on what they are willing to pay so that's doubtful.
However, Netflix might bite to screw over Disney for the Marvel bullshit.
Ian Kelly
probably miles goes to magnet high school with the very rare street level (think Daredevil) adventure to keep the budget low.
Bentley Davis
Sony has the rights to all Spider-Man created or related characters and they will likely hold onto them until Disney really seriously backs up more than just a handful of dumptrucks full of gold billion to their Culver City studios.
The only think that the Spider Twink deal did was make it possible for RDJ and a few other MCU characters to guest on the Sony released Spider Twink solo movies and that Spider Twink can cameo on the Avengers team up movies (with Civil War, in spite of them saying repeatedly it was a Cap solo film, qualifying specifically as a team movie).
Sony has the rights to call off the deal for the above character sharing, not Marvel or Disney. And since Far From Home made more money without RDJ, there's less and less reason, when they decide to recast from Holland, that it will be included going forward if Sony feels like Disney is shitting on other stuff Columbia/Sony, etc. wants to do with the Peter Parker related characters.
The fact that Venom without Peter did very well is also something that Sony would keep in mind in deciding what to do.
Bentley Williams
I'm almost positive with ITSV 2 you're going to get a Toku live action sequence when they introduce Japanese Spider-man.
>And yes you can still post your awful ideas for the sequel and everyone will tell you as much. okay;
>Liv goes out into the multiverse to gather enemies of every different Spider-Man in order to form the Sinister Sixty >every living Spider-Man from the first film returns(including Miguel and '66 from the after credits scene) >they have to go recruit more Spider-Man's from throughout the Multiverse in order to stop Liv's plans >new members of the team include; >Toku Spider-Man(with Leopardon) >Mangaverse Spider-Man >Spider-Man Reign >Spiders-Man >Spider-Woman(Jessica Drew/Female Peter Parker clone) >The Superior Spider-Man(Dr Elliot Tolliver/Dr Otto Octavius)
Grayson Smith
Stick to Fanfiction.net my man.
That's actually not bad. I'd just lower the enemy count down to just 6 though so all the villains get a chance to shine. I'd also swap Reign and Mangaverse Spidey for Spider-Punk and Mayday. Just for a bit more variety on the spider side.
Spidey seems to be the lynch pin of MCU going forward. Tom is an extremely popular character and Disney probably wants to keep him around. The inevitable goal of the mouse though is to regain those spider rights but as long as Columbia is still alive that won't happen.
>That's actually not bad. I'd just lower the enemy count down to just 6 though so all the villains get a chance to shine well most of the Sinister Sixty(I just realized I screwed up the formatting of that post, it being Sixty was supposed to be spoilered, as was the details about Spider-Woman and Superior Spider-Man) are meant to be cannon fodder(indeed I'd probably have like a third of them be MOTW from Toku Spider-Man's world since I was planning on having Professor Monster be one of the main villains besides Liv)
>I'd also swap Reign and Mangaverse Spidey for Spider-Punk and Mayday. Just for a bit more variety on the spider side. honestly not a big fan of Spider-Punk(he's always felt a little too tryhard as a concept), and I originally had contemplated having Mayday be in the cast, but I felt she'd take away from Gwen and Peni's roles, and I was already going to have Jessica Drew play a very prominent role in the story anyways, so there's not as much of a role for Mayday as you'd think
as for why I went with Mangaverse and Reign, well I've got a huge soft spot for the Mangaverse and feel it getting a prominent role would do it some good, especially in relation to how dirty Marvel has treated it in the past, and Reign I feel was a good idea that was kinda marred in the execution and a Spider-Verse adaptation could clean up some of those rough parts(plus having a Spider-Man appear who has truly lost almost everything and having to learn to move past that could be interesting, as is how they could potentially interpret it's version of Venom, who I'm picturing as being another main villain here)
Jason Barnes
MAyday is necessary to see Peter's future, Gwen adds nothing but being fap bait and genuinely detracts from the whole with her half assed origin ignoring her connection to the franchise in order to push the pairing and peni is nice but she has no real personality beyond being anime
Tyler Martinez
>Ignoring her connection to the franchise
Well it's one of the rare instances in the multiverse of spiders where she isn't a corpse to motivate Parker. Not sure how her Origin is half-assed though. Seems decent enough to me.
Peters relationship to her >She died because of my weakness
Spider gwens relationship to peter >He died because of his weakness
Having her believe peter is a school shooter than immediately shunting her off as Miles love interest doesn't seem like she should have place of reverence in the heart of spider-man fans, and she doesn't have any place in the books. hence why the consistently get canceled.
Anthony Anderson
>an aryan catholic spider-man is a perfect ubermensch >a jewish spider-man is a complete fuck-up I didn't know Raimi was consulting.
Damn, I can't believe Ben finally showed up in a movie
Benjamin Russell
Not an idea for a sequel per se but for a plot twist. Venom takes place in the Spider-Gwen universe.
Evan Hill
Pete did have some school shooter tenancies before his bite and after. He was a bullied nerd, and learned the lesson or responsibility after his Uncle died.
Gwen does take her job more seriously after her Peter dies though. He was her friend. His death was a tragedy. Like a friend committing suicide, there's guilt from not 'seeing the signs'. I'm not sure how that's less valid.
Its less valid because the only reason she exists is because a character from a shitty movie got poplar so marvel had her commissioned and despite the the fact that her comics have been awful to the point of being insulting to the franchise as a whole. she continues to get a push even though she is literally just Mayday without the personality the connection to the franchise or unique motivation to separate her from any other spider person
James Powell
If this were made 9 years ago sure but they'll probably bring that luna snow girl along for Silk to lez out on.
Ayden King
Imma be banned for a bit so let me just say Fuck Miles Fuck Spider Gwen Fuck Bendis Fuck Queseda Fuck Beveroot
Luke King
Fuck you
Comic Gwen is legal, and Peter is being close with her. Still possible for this ship to happen.
I just want them to bury her already, there is nothing she brings to the table as a hero that tops the depth her death added to the comics
Dylan Bell
So you haven't read the current one?
Camden Evans
Maybe it's just because I don't care about the cartoon, but I don't mind if they hook up there. It absolutely shouldn't happen in the comic, though.
Leo Martin
Why would I want to? What's the point? Shoving Miles into 616 is what ruined him officially and Gwen has literally nothing going for her for me to want her story to continue. Also why bother going to college in another universe? Your histories are different you scientific laws are different and to top it all off how do you pay for it and how do you use your degree?
Jayden King
Both these two have potential that hasn't been explored yet, but it requires a writer that can actually pull it off by utilizing their history, strengths, and weaknesses and play into their characters and their thinking to build the idea up and play into the complication of it. Have them actually talk to each other and get to know each other better before a decision can be made, but again play into their complication
The current writer actually made a starting point for a possible ship, but that depends on the editors
Had you read the current issue you would have noice how much of an improvement the new writer did. And she made much more of an effort to builod her universe up
And the blame goes to Bendis for ruining Miles. Ahmed is actually fixing him and is doing a great job of it
And yeah I actually asked the writer about it on twitter. Just wait unil the comic is released and you'll see
I don't care this is an actual step backwards for both characters in a major way. If you want Pete to be in relationship with a costumed hero you already have Black Cat right there to expand on a relationship again. How healthy would it be for someone to find the love of their life alive again after spending literally years getting over her? and how much more harmfu is it if you just remind this person, who you see as someone you could've spent your life with if you didn't get her killed, looks at you and ses a beta orbiter of hers that went all columbine on everyone? There's nothing about spider gwen that I want to see that became official the moment that bendis paired her with Miles to sate his cuck fetish and spiderverse followed suit. Mayday, Mattie, Jesica Drew, Julia carpenter, Aryana hell that whole annie may thing, all of these characters are better than Gwen and don't have the awkward relationship of burying one of the last meaningful deaths in comics
Nicholas Wilson
You're missing the clear point of it. It's both of them trying to move past it and for each other to grow. They know each other's counterparts, but don't know each other. That's were the challenge is and how it can be utilized to build up these characters emotionally were they move past the memory of their counterpart's death to seeing each other as a person. And that means outside of their superhero activities were they just talk and hang out
You have to think about it in a more psychological sense to get it, but they have to engage fully with each other. You need to think more than what you're thinking now
Jacob Torres
This seems incredibly unhealthy for the both of them. Basically burying the memory of a loved one and literally replacing them? Isn't that literally what they vilified fisk for in the movie? Just get rid of her and bring Cindy moon in if you really want a spider person to be a love interest for peter. Or I'd like to see him get together with she hulk, they both have very different personalities that I'd like to see get together. I don't want to see another banal resurrection that's just going to turn into death fodder for an event.
Joseph Gonzalez
>originally Miles and Gwen were brought together only for social brownie points and quickly forgotten >the fact that she was 10 years older than him who was 13 was completely glossed over >the "romance" gets adapted into a movie and they age her way down just so they can pair her with him >can't even ship Peter with his first gf who was his peer anymore >"nuh-uh, you're the creep!"
It's all so tiring
Sebastian Harris
>peter+gwen fags I remember that was just anyone who read spider-man from the beginning and liked how that death shaped the comics, and how much better it got because of her death. Also Blue>spiderverse
Caleb Hall
>live action Batman (and Joker and Supes etc) aren't even allowed to appear in the extensive DC TV shows out of respect for the characters and the brand >Sony making several TV shows about Spider-Man and plans/planned dumb shit like solo Aunt May/Morbius/Kraven etc movies >intentionally sabotaging Marvel's attempts to use the character in the MCU like forcing FFH trailers, reveals, and release dates earlier than they planned thus spoiling Endgame Anyone who thinks they're not acting in bad faith is a moron, ITSV was a slap in the face to Spider-Man fans
Connor Ortiz
Miles' VA lobbied for ITSV2 to be live action, probably so he could get handsy with Hailee, it's confirmed to be a story predominantly focusing on their romance
Charles Moore
Its pretty much obvious they're desperate for a hit and are in a win win situation with the franchise, if the movie does well they get money and if it does poorly it hurts a major competitor
I know pascal was interested in expanding the gwen character but isn't the next movie a spin off focusing on her? It all sounds awful to me but it is what it is
Ryan Phillips
Gwen's going to be in ITSV2 as Miles' gf, and in a female Spider spinoff movie
So what you're saying is that the 7/10 movie that spiderverse was isn't worth the literal cavalcade of shit coming? I could've told you that
Wyatt Butler
>Miles has to share his movie with five other Spiders (not that I'm complaining) >Gwen becomes the one that Sony decide to push
Isaac Gomez
There's always been a two year difference between Miles and Gwen-65. That's literally never changed. Don't worry. 616 Gwen is an Osborn semen filled corpse still. I doubt that will change. Her legacy as a motivational corpse is secured.
How will Miles react when he finds out Gwen has been GOBBED? Will he take responsibility for little Gabriel and Sarah?
Jaxson Green
>There's always been a two year difference between Miles and Gwen-65. That's literally never changed. That's demonstrably incorrect though
Isaac Allen
Oh you're back, well I hope you enjoy the fact that this pairing only happened because of a white mans fetish, the same white man who made Miles. The mutt son of Jefferson Davis who had to kill his evil black uncle
Also didn't they pair Spider gwen with her harry at the end of her last volume? So it seems being filled with osborne seamen is a universal constant
Elijah Parker
But Gwen-65 hasn't been Gobbed. Unless you mean Harry, which honestly doesn't look like it will last past her ending current series before she does her new one in 616. 1610 characters did age a bit compared to their 616 counterparts. Morales was 12 when he got bit but he's 16-17 right now and literally about to enter college. That was when he was dating Gwen as well.
He's still in high school and Gwen was in her 20's when she was first written, they aged her down when bendis saw it would piss off fans and give you cuck niggas a boner if he paired them together. You know the saddest thing? I think he and Mayday would've made a good pair? But it isn't about writing a story into the story with Miles it's about just barreling over everything in the blandest fashion
Robert Gomez
They're going to forget that Sin's Past is a thing. Dan Slott pretty much made sure of it when he wrote Clone Conspiracy
Tyler Rivera
Gwen was 17 during her initial appearance in Edge of Spider-verse. It was the summer of her high school graduation and Peter-65 had just died at the Senior Ball a month or 2 prior when she got wrapped into the Multi-verse event. Miles was 15 at the time of Spider-verse #1, It was after his 1 year break and he had re-donned the Mask. 2 year difference
she was 23, she didn't live at home and was in college or you could go by their birth years where gwen was made in 1963 and Miles in 2011. Though discounting that Miles is at most 15 maybe 16, its hard to tell when editorial doesn't require a writer to quantify a major character into the universe. I also like how you ignore the rest of my statement? You really are just here for the cucking.
Landon Roberts
>But Gwen-65 hasn't been Gobbed. With adaptations and alt-universe takes on characters, it's kind of a rule to assume they're the same as the original character, apart from the explicitly mentioned changes and differences and their implications, which are essentially what makes them worthwhile as alternate takes, for example you don't need to be told Bruce Wayne's parents were shot in every single piece of media and alternate universe story he appears in, it's a given. So until a writer explicitly comes out and says Gwen-65 was never Gobbed, we can safely assume she was.
Juan Torres
Live action superman is in supergirl
Lucas Hughes
Yeah, I remember that later but thought no one would care to reply so I didn't correct myself, Joker also appears in Gotham but not technically, Batman appears for a few seconds, and Bruce is in Titans, but they're still doing everything they can to balance interest in the series with the perceived value of the brand.
Elijah Wright
If you're going by initial appearance as the birth date, Spider-Gwen was made in 2015, making her younger than Miles. Gwen was defo. 17 at the time of Spider-verse though. She never attended college or any form of higher education (Until the premise of her new series that is) and her father was pestering her to go to a university in her edge of Spider-verse issue. The manhunt for Spider-woman also just started by 65 - J.J. Jameson which again pegs the time frame shortly after the 65-Parker death. Spider-verse took place the Summer of her High school graduation.
She was living with her band doing gigs, that's not something that you do in high school. We don't know the time frame on how long shes had her powers when she made her webbing how she got her costume, but we do know why matt murdock is the kingpin why captain america is a black woman and why she's a coal burner. She was in her twenties at the beginning of spiderverse because they wanted her to have a moment with peter, it wasn't until bendis wanted to jerk his piggly dick along side yours that she was deaged to pair her with the teenage miles. Ten years worth of comics and still the best Miles can do is rub himself on peters leftovers. Once again Blue >>>>>spiderverse (both movie and comic)
Luis Phillips
To be fair the character depended entirely on the actress delivery. And she's a good actress so it makes sense. (take Venom for example).
Christopher Ortiz
I didn't say she was in high school. I said she just graduated. People leave the homestead right out of High School, that's not uncommon. Parents usually aren't questioning when you're going to go to school 5 years after you graduate high school. Manhunts don't start 5 years after the initial perceived crime happened either. The pain of Parker's death was still very fresh in Gwen's mind. The context clues squarely place Spider-verse right after her graduation.
>ben reilly >miguel o hara >superior spiderman >mayday >spider-monkey
Wyatt Martin
Why are you so obsessed with this? It wa a pairing specifically made to piss off fans and she's getting a push not because shes a good character or particularly popular, (none of her books sold well) but because she looks good and there's no one left to pay royalties to for her use/ Pairingher with Miles shows that the writers have no idea how to actually grow the character and thing "well gwen stacy was spider mans girl friend s why not make her spidermans girlfriend?" Literally her back story is peters but with a single dad rather than mom (which we don't know what happened to her) Is this just to piss off actual fans or what?
Charles Adams
Spider-Gwen is easily the most popular version of Spider-woman to date among the non-comic reading public. And yes it's true that popularity among the 'normies' hasn't translated to comic sales, she possesses the most potential out of any other iteration of 'female spider-person'. The only female spider that could conceivable hold a candle to her is Mayday at this point and Marvel won't use her for obvious reasons. As for the other Spider-women iterations they've all had their push, multiple pushes, and none of them really made it (Aside from Mayday).
But what potential does she have that outshines her standing in comics already? What has she done that's been even close to what spider-man became in the 70s and 80s out of her death? She doesn't have any more or less "potential" than any of the other spider women she just has the unwavering backing of editorial for some f(c)ucking reason. Mayday is literally everything that marvel wants with the inclusion of what they want for Miles but if people are willing to buy literal shit like this then they'll never go for it
Ryan Jackson
mem
Sebastian Walker
>Spider-Gwen is easily the most popular version of Spider-woman to date among the non-comic reading public *the most pushed, literally when were any of the previous Spider-Women being adapted anywhere? Gwen just managed to be lucky enough to be the latest one when diversity started seemingly being profitable
Lincoln Walker
You know I swear the last time I had this conversation someone posted this exact argument with that exact picture. Is this a shill I'm talking to?
Brody Nguyen
She has mass appeal. For whatever reason her aesthetics resonant with the public. No other spider-woman (again aside from Mayday) have reached the public awareness level that Spider-Gwen has. She was the breakout star of comic Spider-verse. The only trick now is to try and draw that popularity to more people to pick up her book. Jessica Drew had her own cartoon, and several different solos, a central figure in a few events. Julia Carpenter was a big component of the original secret wars. Anya had her own solo, appeared in a few events, got a cartoon adaption on the 2017 Spider-man show and I believe she also appeared in the Ultimate Spider-man show too.
She doesn't have mass appeal shes just like Miles where she's just been pushed heavily by editorial thats it. Miles at least had a point in his own books Gwen has never had that. She has unwavering support from Marvel for no reason beyond Bendis wanted to make her into Mles love interest for the rage points. I can guarantee you if Mayday had even half of Gwens backing in marvel she'd be at issue 250 right now with all of marvel and sony behind gwen pushing her she can barley get a book past 10 issues. At best she'll be dead in 5 years and it'll be an embarrassment for everyone involved with her
Wyatt Stewart
I'm not sure it's unwavering support. She's been in a few spider-related events and she's got a solo but she still wasn't pushed as hard as Silk or Drew ever were.
>Peni has a crush on Miles >Miles has a crush on Gwen >Gwen has a crush on Peter >Peter just wants his fucking wife back. >Peter's wife is fucking Luke Cage A truly miserable state of affairs.
How is she so effortlessly sexy? Meanwhile Gwen needs to do a dance for my attention.
Grayson Rivera
So did everyone like the movie universally? I cracked a smile sometimes but didn't cackle till the after credits scene. I thought it was decent
Henry Johnson
>>that one episode where peni pilots SP//DR naked fresh out of the shower
Brandon Jackson
It was ok. The animation was cool, but outside of that, and older Peter, everything was kinda meh. Miles is still a pointless character that lacks his own definitive characterization. The stuff they did with his uncle was nice, but there was too little of it. All of the alt Spider-people, aside from loser Spider-Man, were one-note. And there were some plot holes and very lucky conviniences. I enjoyed it, but probably not gonna watch it again.
>How is Miles a pointless character? He doesn't bring anything new to the table, he's literally just Peter, but black. Wally West is a different person from Barry Allen, Terry McGinnis is a different person from Bruce Wayne, Miles might as well be a palette swap of Peter. >What plot holes? The collider scans Peter's DNA, so why are Gwen, Peni and a literal pig brought over? Peter fought Kingpin before, MJ was married to Peter, and knew about his double life, but didn't know Kingpin was a bad guy? Once Miles decides to join the fight, he magically obtains all the skills, even though he was just barely surviving before Peter's suit fits Miles perfectly despite Peter being nearly 1.5 times his height, and 2 times as wide Gwen goes infiltrates the school looking for Miles before Miles ever gets there What was the spider that bit Miles doing in the tunnels in the first place? The collider lab had nothing to do with spiders. Octopus tells Fisk the collider is dangerous and could destroy the city, but has no qualms launching it later
