That the word spider-cide was wacky, but he kind of liked it.

how many spider clones/people were there in 616? Symbiotes also count i guess

I thought it was something like insecticide but with spiders.

Arachnicide sounds cool too.

>spider clones/people and symbiotes in 616
Well, let's see, off the top of my head (some of those may be dead now):
>Spider-Man (Peter)
>Ben Reilly
>Kaine
>Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
>Silk
>Spider-Girl (Anya)
>Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
>Venom (Eddie Brock, Mac Gargan, Flash Thompson)
>Mania
>Toxin
>Carnage
>Spidercide
Pretty sure there's at least half a dozen more symbiotes but honestly I never really bothered remembering their 2edgy4me names

Oh and I guess Anti-Venom (Eddie Brock and Flash) counts too.

>created to kill Peter Parker clones
>kills exactly 1 Peter Parker clone

Is Spidercide's goo still in a jar somewhere? I'd be surprised if no writer has brought him back since Maximum Clonage ended.

Kaine got better too. So technically he killed no spider-clones.

>Maximum Clonage
Also, I never understood the art of Jackal's death. It's like the artist drew him falling but then decided to draw the impact crater like he'd just landed, afterward. So he's floating above his own crater or something.

>orders Spidercide to kill Kaine 3 times
>only kills Kaine once

He's awful at his job.

Better question is why did the Lizard have such an awful design during the Clone Saga?

Attached: Lizard Clone Saga.png (498x530, 547K)

They wanted to spice up Ben's rogues gallery, probably

I'd vomit too if Romita Jr. was drawing my face.

Didn't Editorial make that a separate Lizard than Doc Conners?

there's also Doppelganger, that one new venom's son, and Miguel

Besides Doppelganger, one is in the future and the other is just a normal kid.

I meant other son, Sleeper or something. And Miguel was stuck in 616 for a few years, I think he counts. Oh, i remebered, there wrre also Hybrid and Scream

and Otto

>Sleeper
Oh, well that's Venom's offspring

>Hybrid and Scream
both long gone

>Miguel was stuck
Indeed, was stuck, by the end of his series he was already back in his own time.

>Oh, well that's Venom's offspring
And also not connected with Spider-Man or Spider powers in any ways since "he" was just a Symbiote.

Connors ran the tests on Peter in the 1970s to see if he was the clone or the original, so this was supposed to be Connors mutating into a savage form, removing the possibility of Peter and Ben going to him to confirm who was the clone. Then towards the end of the Clone Saga it's revealed this was a new Lizard, meaning they could have just asked Connors for help at any time.

Where was the point the clone saga spiraled out of control with no chance of recovery?

A lot of Spider-Man villains got redesigns during the Clone Saga or just before it. Lizard, Vulture, Mysterio, Scorpion, Hobgoblin, Jackal, Looter, plus the new female Doctor Octopus. None of them lasted for long, nor did Black Cat's new costume from a few years earlier. It may have been writers or editorial wanting to revamp characters, it may have been a way of giving artists some creative input into the books.

Making it a new Lizard was weird, because the Lizard in that story was specifically trying to hunt down Connors' wife and son (like the Lizard always does). Why would a different Lizard care about those two? Unless it was a clone. Oh god, was it a clone?

It being a new Lizard was just a retcon to get away from an unpopular redesign. They should have had him revert to his normal appearance somehow instead of doing something where you had to forget or ignore his previous stories. That version of Lizard was supposed to have much stronger healing powers than normal IIRC, so even his death was odd.

I don't think symbiotes should be viewed as a separate category from Spider people even after all recent retcons. After all, most of them still has Spidey's big eyes, most of them web swing. And honestly, evil versions of Spidey's evil version are still Spidey's evil versions

The start, no joke. It was already too late within a month. There were just too many comics coming out too fast.

That someone spent way too much time and effort delineating chest muscles that don't exist and not enough making a realistic bulge.

>after all recent retcons
Symbiotes being parasites that absorb or mimic their host's powers (if they have any) has been pretty much the only consistent thing about them for decades.

>most of them still has Spidey's big eyes
Gotcha, so everyone with a design similar to Spider-Man is to be considered a spider, do you consider the Prowler a spider-person too? What about Deadpool?

If Prowler and Deadpool produced fluid similar to web and were know to webswing, while also being part of race that exist solely because black Spidey suit got popular, I would consider them to be spider-people, yes

>produced fluid similar to web and were know to webswing
So only Venom.

whatever makes you feel better

Hey dummy, don't forget to count Daredevil as a Spider-person!

>keep getting contradicted by his own words and just give up
Nice to see you are actually just a pleb who was taking shit out of his ass just to shitpost about something he had no knowledge. I was worried for a second you were an actual retard.

>part of race that exist solely because black Spidey suit got popular
Oh geez, i guess we have to count every concept that was originally introduced in something related to Spider-Man as spider-people then.
What a retard.

In what way? Carnage for example uses tendrils to move similar to web swinging.
He is not a symbiote, dummy
Nah, I'm just not a retarded symbiotfag and understand that Venom knockoffs( Carnage, Toxin, etc) are ultimately Spider related since venom himself is nothing more than dark version of Spider-Man
If this concept shares basic characteristics with Spidey, like overall design elements and power similarities, yes,I would call it a spider person

Two more clones are Jack, which is midget Peter in a Jackal costume, and the dead clone that got planted in the smoke stack.

Maximum Clonage.
