Because something, something, blasphemy. Same reason you don't hear DAMN in shows. You stupid Americans pretend Christian is still relevant and practice its beliefs instead of realising it was merely morals to follow.

Really depends on the rating.

>Nobody says that right

As someone that has spent many years working in education, and in the service industry before that... I've most definitely had to learn to say G-rated exclamations.

Jinkies, it's almost like some of us have to be around kids for a living.

>still relevant
for being irrelevant it sure likes living in your head

Those aren't christian beliefs though
and cartoons routinely do much worse blasphemy on a constant basis
not to mention in the rules (tenuous as they are, but established) of words-you-can-say, they violate higher tiers all the time.
it's just some dumb thing.

Given it still plays a part in religious wars with the Middle East, yes. It does live inside my head because it's causing damage. Damage that might someday affect me personally.

>those last four numbers

user, beliefs are things like 'this deity exists, loves you, and has an afterlife for you'
morals are things like 'you shouldn't say this word or that word.'
Your modern wishy-washy reinterpretative bullshit is the source of this insanity, not the cure for it.

>Lord Dominator doesn't get to say "watch you die" or I'LL KILL YOU
>Bill Cipher gets to fucking say "I've got some children I have to make into corpses"

God I fucking hate Disney

I am rather fond of Glob and Cob though.
That time Finn was like "where is everyone? Are y'all in church? worshipping Glob?" i snickered.
weird that we finally met him and he was just kind of a martian guy

sometimes it annoys me that the things I want tolerated are actually being seen LESS in media over time, like violence, nudity, youth relationships, but on the other hand I don't want some fucking group working together to get me representation I approve of. I just want normal people to be making cartoons, and do what they would normally do. What we all did when we drew dumb pictures in notebooks as kids. We drew people getting shot, we drew naked ladies, we drew teenage princesses frolicking with teenage princes without showing ID or filling out consent forms.

>nitpickers on Yea Forums think these things are major determinants of the quality of a show

Attached: 1420476222034.png (320x287, 105K)

Yea Forums fucking hates kids, user, what did you expect?

But the majority are children. How else would you explain the nonstop repeating of the same phrases and “insults”, with absolutely little to no real discussion.

Which you hear depends on where you live and what the predominant religion your community is. Around where I live, most people (adult and child) do say, "Oh my gosh." Just because they don't in your bubble doesn't mean it's the same for everybody.

Retarded adults

I think Cipher got away with more because he's non-humanoid.

This. He's a crazy triangle.

I was surprised when he slipped one in... Not sure if CN edited it out yet though

>He tried correcting himself when he said GOD with a 'sh' at the end

First time in a while I've heard about a VA blooper actually making it into a show.

It seems to have already caused damage retard

It would imply that the character believes in God and it's kinda dumb for a fictional character to believe in a fictional character

You should be happy they don't take the Lord's name in vane, you fucking heathen.

Americans sure teach their kids retarded things.

disgustingly lazy an nonsensical.

Not being an American, it always confused me as a kid that they could freely say stuff like god, hell, damn or Jesus in local cartoon dubs, but when the characters were actually talking about hell, they'd often tiptoe around the word because the translation would remain faithful to the original dialogue in those scenes.

Sure you do, JOHNSON.

omo

>He doesn't pray to Gosh

I think flannel man had Disney over a barrel when it came to letting stuff through. Gravity falls was a money maker.

Whatever

Because Americlaps are retarded as shit and think that saying the word God is taking the Lords name in vain.
As if somehow God is God's name

To most Americans, "God" has become "God's" name. You don't see many people actually saying the Tetragramaton, so for all ilntents and purpose, capital-G becomes the actual name people know him by.

What if its a setting in which the concept of god's don't exist?

>Charactesr say "What on earth"
>takes place on a fantasy planet

Religious right-wing watch groups are still a powerful force in western media, despite what trolls would like to pretend.

Bill didn't actually do shit besides turning people of Gravity Falls to stone and Pacifica's Dad's eyes inside out. LD destroyed multiple planets. TV censors are retarded, news at 11.

>anime character says "oh my god" even in the sub

damn is a curse word, so it makes sense there. but god isn't.

Sacrebleu!

They even do it in porn, it's fucking weird.

Unless it's a valley girl, "gosh" always felt like a terrible substitute for "God." I think Justice League would use "Good Lord," which honestly sounds better. It's weird going back to the Kids WB era of Batman: TAS, where everyone is saying "Oh my God!" so casually, while also showing a lot more blood too.

Even with the 4Kids dub of Yugioh removing every death reference, they would still have lines like "like vultures to a carcass" that goes against everything they were doing.

>Why can't they just say "Jesus fucking Christ" like the rest of us?

When will Batman exclaim “Oh shit, oh fuck!” like a normal person?

>Instead of god, they say a made up word.

gumball dropped "eternal damnation" in an episode once iirc.

That should be something a new Robin does.

too many syllables.

Gravity falls got away with a lot of things that disney wouldn't let happen in other shows. youtube.com/watch?v=IGt87p9Xt-I

Yeah I always wondered how that scene where the animals' head are spilling blood got in. Is it just because the blood isn't coming from living beings?

Also a rising trend in adult entertainment. Once you notice it you can't unnotice it.

Removing death references from Yu Gi Oh isn't that bad because every duel being a match to the death is kinda dull after the 547th time.

G-d is a made up word

iirc they edited the scene out in re-runs, so I guess they changed their mind about letting animals bleed out.

Wait really? Do you have a source? I can't find anything about it by googling "northwest mystery mansion" "blood". I hope it's not edited out on the Blu-ray set, I'll have to double check when I get home.

If so that's pretty disappointing. I assume it would be due to parents' complaints, like with season 1 of Regular Show.

No real source, I just remember hearing about it from another user and reading it on TV tropes

>cartoon character uses the Lord's name in vain

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 72K)

I remember ATLA walking a tightrope on this. Sometimes they got to say "kill" and "die" and sometimes they had to resort to euphemisms like "destroy".

>scientist character is a tryhard athiest edgelord that gets pissed at everything religious

>cartoons made (storyboarded) by commiefornians contains heavy amounts of valley bimbo lingo speech

You are all being miss influenced by the cursed "buffy speech" that hit all these calrats alumni when they where in high school / college.

>Scifi setting
>"Oh my stars!"

This is fine when it's a made up religion. Like Rao

I liked Hal Jordan’s old phrase: “Great Galaxies!”

I liked "Craters!"

Is that a burger thing? In Spanish everyone says “Dios” and no one complains.

But Dominator literally said, “but I tried to kill you”, in the finale

CHRISTIANISTS ARE NOT WELCOME ON Yea Forums

>kids never swear

>uses the Lord's name in vain
Back in my mid-teens when I was still a nerdy christian I enjoyed pointing out that the Catholics changed around a few commandments just for fun, and that the original commandment was "not to swear a false oath in God's name" which makes a lot more sense.

"using the lord's name in vain" doesn't actually mean anything, but somehow was construed by middle/high schoolers to mean that saying "goddammit" was a sin

It's an English thing that carried over from the home country with the Puritans. Taking the Lord's name in vain was some serious business back in the day, and old habits are hard to break (though almost no one considers it to be actually blasphemous anymore).

>he doesn’t use, “oh my goodness”
Literally only brainlets use “oh my God”

The one that really pisses me of is "shall not kill" instead of "shall not murder".

Mutts need to be genocided

Haha, and the shall not kill directive is given about 10 pages before the page with the orders to kill "witches"

>it in fact gives creators more of a challenge to break the normal use of words that adults usually use
