Helga has issues but she's functional and has a clear sense of right and wrong. I'm clearly biased since I used to crush on her as a kid but I genuinely believe that therapy can help her overcome some of her worst habits (aggression, insecurities, etc). She almost never physically acts out except against Brainy, no matter how angry she gets. She's also reasonably independent and there's a mutual respect to how she treats Phoebe.
People don't give her enough credit.
