how did such a low budget special gain so much prominence?
How did such a low budget special gain so much prominence?
it was good
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for Richard Stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
cute girl dog
Drew Barrymore has an adorable voice. That's why I watched it.
I wanna pet Olive and tell her she's a good girl and it's fine however much like a dog she wants to act
By being good
was this the first commercial use of flash animation?
its good
What kind of bug was he supposed to be?
>flash
It was actually all CGI
Christmas specials are fuelled by whimsy.
It had Matt Groening's name attached to it, didn't it?
It was well written, had some nice songs, and had a unique style
The dog has a nice, soothing voice with good delivery, the story is simple but charming, the songs are more than passable by TV Movie standards.
Overall it's just a good watch.
Do you know anyone named Deus...Ex...Machina?
Dan has an even better voice.

It was wholesome.
It was one of the holiday specials they would play all the time, but it wasn't totally annoying like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
Michael Stipe reindeer was based as fuck.
Ngl, the voice sold me on the character (and made me feel funny feelings towards a dog)
It has a ton of style and likeable characters
The dog looks cute, sounds cute, and the movie is really short. it is also pretty funny.
Nope that was JoeCartoon and John K's internet shorts
It was based on a fairly famous and popular kids book.

That might be another good reason.
CN DIDNT FUCKING PLAY IT LAST CHRISTMAS AND PROBABLY WONT THIS YEAR TRADITION IS DEAD
no...
>tfw CN stopped airing GRANDMA'S GONNA SUE THE PANTS OFF OF SANTA
It was terrible but it was tradition
kino
CN’s been playing it? I loved this special and haven’t seen it on TV once since it originally aired. I was so happy to find it on DVD a few years ago. I had no idea it was still being shown on television
>lead singer of Stipe.
ya what son
Stipe would be a cool band name desu
Cute designs, tongue-in-cheek writing that still manages to be earnest when necessary.
Now what horrible specials are zoomers going to grow up with each Christmas?
Took me forever to realize the connection between Olive's and Martini's names.
>He thinks they are getting holiday specials
Literally because it was attached to the Simpsons studio
The mistranslation scene has to be my most hated trope but this movie had me fucked up with Martini's mistranslation
Please tell me that's fake.
How likely do you think it is that he purposefully messed up the translation just to motivate Olive?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

How magical
Christmas magic
That´s Joe Pino
Ahh, sorta like Parappa
Elves
>I had no idea it was still being shown on television
I used to...
>low budget
It still looks good, today.
So what the fuck was that bunny's problem?
I remember my teacher reading the book to us in kindergarten, then, when I saw the special, I was like "hey, I know this".
Remember hearing about this from time to time and then randomly caught it on UK television on the odd occasion I bother to watch TV. Watched it from beginning to end, just a warm cup of tea in terms of easy viewing and comfy factor.
Too bad they never did Olive, My Love. I wonder if it could still be done.
They legally can't, now. Not without paying royalties.
>that song with that voice with that music
It sounds just like the Robot Hell song from Futurama. They were both released the same year, too. Makes me wonder if they just recorded both during the same session.
strange
Zoom zoom
drew Barrymore
I can agree with this.
a lot of the voice cast were his regulars, especially Dan Castallaneta as the evil mail man.
>Drew Barrymore named her daughter Olive
Apparently she wasn't actually named after the dog Olive, but I smiled at the idea when I first heard that.
