Because we live in an amoral universe where things like justice are lies humans tell ourselves so we can sleep rather than chiseled into the stone of reality.
Normies think they look ugly. They are kind of right. Normies just don't realize that ugly isn't necessarily bad.
Too childish looking to be taken seriously by western audiences. Too expensive relative to computer animation and even 2D animated films for them to be profitable towards children. In addition it also has an uncanniness that lends itself to horror rather than a profitable sanitized mascot merch.
It's a pity but that is the reality.
People don't have respect for things like this. Ive loved claymation since I was very young and have just loved how stopmotion looks. It seems the masses just don't care about this area of art but enough do still that they'll keep making stopmotion films.
>DUUUUH THIS NO COMPUTER SHINY DUUUUUUUUUUHH OTHER NOISY PICTURE HAVE COMPUTER SHINY ME WANT COMPUTER SHINY
>Laika makes a normie-friendly movie with stop-motion so fluid that could be mistaken for CG
>still flops
They're too good for the casual cinema plebeian.
Compare those character designs to Pixar/Disney character designs.
The truth about stop-motion animation that other posters won't speak: you can admire the jaw-dropping amount of work and craft that went into the production and how amazing it looks...but very often they're not actually very good movies in other respects like plot or dialogue. They're so much about the look and the craft that other aspects get neglected, and it shows.
This isn't true for every stop-motion feature, but it's true for most of them.
Because they dont have really cool fight scenes in it
It would be really exhausting work but man would it look cool
People seem to think stop-motion is "creepy" somehow. There was that baffling Gravity Falls episode about it. I've known people who thought the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials were scary as a kid.
>why does good thing not make lots of money
We can ask this question for many things. The truth is that most people aren't interested. If you want people to watch your movie you have to give them a good enough reason. So I'd blame marketing more than anything.
What's the movie in top right?
They look ugly. The designs are too quirky for mainstream audience. Also, . It feels like the creators are so visually oriented and so focused on their craft that they have no idea how important writing is.
Luckily, Pixar realized that before Toy Story release, and set a high standard for 3D features right off the bat.
Because normalfaggots have shit taste.
I've seen all but top right and bottom right. What are they?
All of those ones in OP I've seen had good plots, though.
>uncanniness that lends itself to horror
i think this is a big part. pic somewhat related
Yes, they are more expressive
Paranorman, Fantastic Mr Fox, Coraline...
All three of these had good plots. I haven't seen the rest of them but I don't know what youre talking about with bad plots.
>Anomalisa
>Sociopathic protagonist
>The writing and art direction works perfectly with stop motion.
>Still flops.
>ParaNorman did also flop although doing everything right with the medium and writing.
>Coraline succeeded because the Henry Selick name being slapped on it.
The real reason stop-motion flicks fail at the box office is because of normalfags doesn't even care about them.
Stop motion-filmmakers lack the budget to have the Disney-sized marketing shill their craft to the ignorant masses.
If you don't have a competent, but manipulative big boi like Bob Iger behind you, it's not worth making money on this...
>Stop motion looks different
>Uniqueness is normalfag poison
Pretty easy to figure out.
Most stop motion films that make it to theaters have pretty good plots for western animated films though. You must be just think of Aardman animation and the some of the worse Laika films.
It's a short but I don't remember the title.

I love stop motion and all but Laika needs to fucking quit it with their full on comedies.
They are all terrible.
Laika just made two full-blown comedies of five. For me, it's not a big deal really,
The only issue I have with Laika is that they almost always have children as protagonists, which got pretty repetitive until Missing Link ironically.
The creators said that they will change that thank god.
