Making excellent trans characters back before it was cool

>Making excellent trans characters back before it was cool

Why doesn't Venture Brothers get recognized for its progressiveness the same way shows like Rocko, Star Vs, and Steven Universe do?

it's not currently airing. that's all.

But he wasn't trans? He just liked his rack.

Because the characters from VB are actual characters and not just tokens.

He's said, "Inside of me there is a woman screaming to be heard!", too.

>cartoons that women don't understand

But then he switched back and proudly grabbed his dick. If anything, Hunter is gender-fluid, but it would be more accurate to say he's sexually fulfilled by spycraft.

>Shoreleave is presented as a stereotypical campy gay man but still has layers of depth when on screen

Probably one of the better if not best gay characters ever done in animation

Hunters gather didn't do it to "be himself" he was on the run from what essentially was the FBI. Plus it was also a con to get into Molotov team. You can argue it was a couple of retcons strung together great but that's what Venture Brothers does best.

>My sexuality is deception in all forms

Every single time he went on a spy mission, he chose to wear women's clothes. Even before the surgery.

all the lgbt characters are mockery and gags, not actually trying to be progressive
But despite that some of them feel more positive and inspiring for gays or trannys than characters actually trying to be that.
Like Al, Gentleman or Shore Leave
even if they are gay for gags they just feel way more organic and fleshed out than agenda characters, probably because it doesnt define them entirely (can argue about shore)

What's he gonna do? Make Brock the woman? But he's always been kinda gay, telling Brock "no women or children."

Also reminder Brock has an island of bastards.

Shore Leave started out as a gag character, but they kept bringing him back, and while he is flamboyant, he's also shown to be extremely competent at what he does. The flamboyancy is just a character trait.

That's doing a flamboyant character properly.

Isn't Gentleman just a sexual predator?

>think he's a pure Hunter S. Thompson reference
>he's actually a combination of Raol Duke and a character called Howard Hunter from a show called Hill Street Blues
>check out Hill Street Blues
>it's actually pretty amazing

Thank you, Venture Bros.

None of the gay characters are played up as a mockery, it plays up into the classic "subverting expectations" gag.

The army has a notorious history of being anti-gay. So having a soldier who is the most flamboyant man around who constantly talks about all the dick he takes is historically contrasting and funny.

The Alchemist is supposed to be a wise, spiritual man who is seeking the cure for cancer. But most of the time, he acts like a sassy gossip girl who just wants to talk about drama.

Gentleman is supposed to be, well... A gentleman. But everything that spews out of his mouth is the filthiest shit you've ever heard as he goes into great detail about his depraved sex acts with men, women, teens, and animals all while speaking in a "proper" British accent.

Gentleman always been gay. There's a flash back where his love interest was a dude. After team Venture disbanded he flew off to a place where he could fuck young guys. Judging from Kiki age (half his age) he's not a full blown pedophile.

I'm just saying that Gentleman seems like he just wants to fuck anything of a certain level of sexual attraction.

Men. Women. Teens. Etc.

they were laughing at you, not with you

>that one time Brock cracked a joke about not being able to see Dr Mrs Monarch's surgery scars

Rose (Billy's mom/triple threat) is the only woman I've seen him be nice to. Even then it's more of a little sister relationship.

>>check out Hill Street Blues
>>it's actually pretty amazing
Yeah, dude, Hill Street Blues is the granddaddy of quality television. No Sopranos or Twin Peaks without it

His step daughter. And given how he treated Kiki, being nice is no indicator of his attraction towards someone.

>His step daughter
That's not how it works
>being nice is no indicator of his attraction towards someone.
Okay you got me there

rocko?

Bigger but not better quality picture

Alchemist doesn't even feel like that kinda gag, that just feels like a genuine character.
Also yeah Shore is a subverting gag, but thats what I meant with mockery. It mocks or better capitalizes on the subversion that no one expects a bulky competent soldier to be a overly gay flamboyant guy

really long downtime

Ralph Bighead in the new 45-minute Rocko movie is going to be revealed as having undergone trans surgery and will be referred to as "Rachel". Rocko, Heffer, and Filbert will search for Rachel (Who I think has not spoken to his parents since the surgery and they think he's missing?) as they hope to get The Fatheads rebooted.

No, Dr. Quyum is his step daughter and he got angry at Doc for breaking her heart.

Hey man, we wait for the good shit and we wait like a champ.

aka binging the series over and over just waiting for AS to randomly throw a release date at us when we least expect it.

When the Sphinx power suit was destroyed he tells Hank that he will "never get over losing them."

I kinda argue that Hunters genderfluid. Or at the very least, Hunters one of the best damn characters and it's a shame he wasn't around much in the last 2 seasons.

Or an autogynephile.

Because it's played for comedy. Pop culture sites don't pick up on "progressive" characters unless they're pointless window dressing for dull shows.

Uhh, buddy, neither of them /has/ to be undercover as a woman. Hunter chose to.

>Yea Forums hates it when characters aren't recognized for progressiveness
>Yea Forums bitches to no end when characters are praised for progressiveness
i'm glad you're miserable

Huh really. When was that?

Next season....WHEN???

because he isn't defined by his gender identity, he is defined by being a raving, possibly mad, mad person who is the best spymaster in the VB universe

The women or children was about killing. Thats what separates OSI from the baddies.

Doctor Qym medicine woman in s2. And The Jonas Venture memorial party in s3.

Rocko ended more than 10 years ago and the reboot hasn't aired yet.

Oh, I posted before seeing whoops.

In the christmas episode doc dropped the f bomb so venture bros is permanently disqualified from any lgbt awards. If you werent grasping at straws you might also notice the many many offensive gay characters they've made throughout the series
>constant trans mrs monarch jokes
>casual pedophile sgt hatred is a transgender
>captain sunshine the gay pedo
>hunter the trans stripper
but that one time the gay christian seaman shot the stink bomb henchmen was really deserving of an award right?

Probably next year. They seem to do a 2-3 year gap between seasons.

Bait

>Character has to be a positive role model to be considered a good character

The chick from Orange is the New Black is a fucking convict. She stole money to pay for all of her surgery.

Well remember his line about Kiki
>Look at him! He's beautiful! That doesnt make me gay, it makes me smart!

Gentleman fucks anything that piques his interests.

THAT's what he said in that episode?

>DMTM is not trans
>hatred is a pedophile but not trans, his breasts are caused by his nomolestale
>capt sunshine isn’t a pedo, he just has a very weird life and has inappropriate relations with children (sleepovers, playing etc) but not sexual

>But he's always been kinda gay, telling Brock "no women or children."
That was an official OSI policy, that distinguished them from the baddies.

It is among people who know about the show. Not everyone is aware of an adultswim show that only airs once every three or so years. Can't wait for the show to blow up in popularity.
