OG Nicktoons

So which of the original Nicktoons still hold up? Any you think particularly don't?

Angry Beavers, Rocko and Ren and Stimpy still hold up, every other Nicktoon ad meh writing

>Angry Beavers
I feel like I remember that one to be particularly awful alongside Ahh! Real Monsters

Only Ren & Stimpy holds up for me as an adult. The early episodes still make me laugh. I do have nostalgia for Doug and Rugrats, though.

Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and the first few seasons of Ren and Stimpy are great and hold up the best

Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, SpongeBob (1999-2004, both Movies)

Angry beavers and catdog don’t deserve to be in that picture

Oh yeah, Catdog was especially bad

No one ever wants to remember kablam

Literally only SpongeBob's first three seasons have held up. Nicks stuff does not hold up well. Cartoon Networks stuff aged way better.

Ren & Stimpy and first few seasons of SpongeBob are timeless in my eyes

>He hates the best Nicktoon

>Rocko's Modern Life
Holds up the best. The commentary is just as accurate now as it was then, sadly.
>Hey Arnold!
Some good jokes and characters, but too hamfisted with the 'deep' plots rewatching as an adult.
>Rugrats
Good jokes but the artstyle is too jarring on rewatch. Also baby plots can only be so engaging.
>Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
Similar to Rugrats but better as an adult.
>CatDog and Angry Beavers
Loved them as a kid but too spastic for adults.

Where’s the line for non-original nicktoon by the way? My vote goes for spongebob and anything that debuted post spongebob.

Same for me, SB feels like a nice cut off point since everything after it premiered in the new millennium. Rugrats was the top dog of Nick, SB took the title in just three seasons and Nick has been hoping that a show could do the same. Sadly, that hasn't happened yet.

I like Angry Beavers and CatDog, fuck all of you

Nick REALLY wanted CatDog to be the next big thing.

Never really cared for the beavers; found them boring as a kid. I admit I watched CatDog regularly.

Ren & Stimpy and Rocko. Doug was, and will always be, absolute shit.

You guys look at Nickelodeon with rose-tinted glasses Angry Beavers was ok Ren and Stimpy's was fine but the Creator is a lazy fucking pedophile who basically pissed away and he could will he had with the remaining fans Rocko's Modern Life is okay but the Creator spoiled his Goodwill when he was making the new movie when one of the characters comes out as a trans character the original SpongeBob up till the first movie was probably the best show they had Doug is a boring fucking character Rugrats no looking back on it it's just poop pee and gross out jokes the show CatDog was shit kablam was iffy being real the only good shows that were airing at the time were Cartoon Network Show from 1999 until about 2009 actually 2008 it was a hit after hit after Camp Lazlo after hit after Foster's home for imaginary friends after hit after My Gym Partner's a Monkey after hit

I was't that fond of CatDog and I always thought Ren & Stimpy was disgusting, I've changed my mind about R&S and now I think John K is disgusting.
they were ok growing up, but in retrospective, I prefer today's cartoons.

Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's, Rugrats but it kinda got Simpsonsfied after a while. Spongebob if you count that.

To be honest even as a kid I found most of the Nicktoons to be shit compared to the Cartoon Cartoons.

Rocko is still amazing
ARM has aged but is still worth a watch
Hey Arnold is still good
Rugrat was always bad outside of a few episodes
Catdog is still good
AB is still good
RnS is hit or miss

Most of them are still good. The problem is when they stopped airing much Nick replaced them with live action soulless crap and once SpongeBob went bad that was it.

Fuck off Catdog was good besides the dumb movies and parents shtick. That kind of thing rarely turns out good and should be saved until the very last episode/special like Eddys brother.

It sucks that people are going to start hating Rocko out of principle now.

Hey Arnold, Spongebob, and Rugrats probably stand the best.

Hey Arnold gets better every time you rewatch it. That show is better than most TV in general.
Rocko is still good too but the new thing has me kinda eh.

>Spongebob
>OG nicktoon
No, it was fourth generation, along with the stuff that OYC spawned.

If you want to be purist, only Doug/Rugrats/Ren and Stimpy were the launch day OGs. Rocko/ARM/Hey Arnold came as second generation, Catdog/Thornberries/Beavers were third.

Also, anyone saying "Cartoon Network was better at the time!" is an outright Turner Broadcasting shill. For most of the 90s the vast majority of what the channel aired was reruns of boomer era cartoons like Tex Avery shorts (the bad ones), Scooby Doo along with the millions of H-B rehashes of it, constant reruns of that Dexter's Lab episode where the jelly monster swallows him, and the only real good thing was Space Ghost right before the channel went off the air.

>OG Nicktoons
>Rocko, Angry Beavers, Ahh! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold!
>No Doug

Ya fucked up.

All of them still hold up.

I always do, that show was great

I'm old enough to remember when it was the original three Nicktoons debuted and Rocko's premiere was a big deal.

Many didn't even hold up back then
