Even removed from the context of sonic his work frequently contains references to his own inability to get a date. Just because the video is about Sonic and contains a few specific references to him doesn't mean the ENTIRE video was made to mock Chris-Chan and I really don't think it was, tonally the video is nothing like a Chris-Chan video and Max is actually talented.

Sonic looked pretty good. My biggest critique is that the mouth was animated so smooth that it didn't look like it matched with the spoken word.

Max is normally great about mouths though, so I'm thinking it was a just a kink with the new process he tried.

You set an A, B and C in a frame on a line and then set an A, B and C on the moved line in a new frame and the computer does the guesswork.

The thing is it's way more work and more time consuming to do an animation this way over traditional unless you're big bucks like Disney.
