Shaping up to be best superman story since all star superman
This looks cool, I didn't even know it was going on
How much until "The Thousands Deaths of Lois Lane"?
>Though the cover was lying
>It is, in fact, Superman in a boxing match
I thought King was allergic to fun or something Yea Forums
From what I've read of his, his one off stories are much better than his longer story arcs.
There needs to be an editorial mandate that King can't do anything involving mental health. Nothing about depression, suicide, or a personal crisis of any kind. Then you'll always get stuff like this.
>TOM KING
>Shaping up to be best superman story since all star superman
Fake news
but this also gave us the "supes thinks of lois dying over and over" story (which should be in the next issue)
King is surprisingly refreshing after having to deal with Bendis
LOIIIIIIS LOOOOOOOOOIS
Well since THIS is >Shaping up to be best
I'm sure the wait will be TOTALLY worth it
It's not hard to be good once. If you can't do it consistently, then there's a problem but since he's being awarded for what he shits out, no one is paying attention.
It started off ok, but his Superman story as a whole is so aimless and just super depressing
an error: the girl was kidnapped from GOTHAM not Metropolis
End.
Wtf I wasn’t expecting tears from this
Damn.
wow well done Tom King.
without a doubt in my personal top 10 single issue superman comics of all time.
take a bow sir
this was....actually good? credit where credit is due King. Now please write batman like this
Oooof right in the emotions
Who the fuck is this guy? Are they under a red sun?
Kubert is God
Can someone explain what’s happening and why is Superman having a hard time with some random dude
this is tom king?
batman writer tom king?
he is Mighto, he is Mighty.
what don't you GET?
wouldn't be a king comic without the 3x3 panels
a girl was kidnaped into space, she was a big superman fan so supes felt like he needed to go rescue her, he is getting clues y fighting this alien guy.
he says here that he would lose instantly if it was a straight fight, but they are boxing and only using super strength, but superman is so tough the other guy can´t win so he gives up.
Wow, this was good. Is really King?
But that story has to do with mental health you stupid dipshit.
>part 3
Where's part 2?
>King's Superman is pretty good
>Benis Bats isn't too bad
What the fuck
>bendis bats good
Okay fill me in
Bondi's wrote a batman comic that was actually fun and a bit campy and batman wasn't a depressed suicidal asshole. It was modern batman with a bit of Adam west camp.
Why does this page say "part 3"?
It's a reprint of the Walmart exclusive comics. Those 80 page giants had reprints, and then around 12 pages of new stuff.
Bendis did Batman, Connor/Palimotti did WW, and King did Superman.
This issue is a reprint of parts three and four
I like King’s Superman. Apparently he even has a happy ending for this story which is a step outside his comfort zone for King.
Superman flying himself to death just so some contrived tragedy can ensue, this does nothing for me.
Tom King does lots of fun stuff. Batman riding an airplane between skyscrapers was the very first scene of his Batman run.
Fuck I love Kubert art
Issue One had parts 1 and 2 within, just as this one has 3 and 4
He is fighting at less than full strength under those red light emitters.
God damn that’s some fucking brutal violence. Don’t usually see Supes get that beat up but I like it. Shows that he doesn’t give up even when he’s getting the shit kicked out of him.
Never understood the butthurt over that. It was a moment of fear where he indulged in what-ifs, and people just got all asshurt.
And y'all doubted King.
How the fuck is it depressing? Supes spends the whole story pushing on no matter what and King already spoiled that it’s a happy ending.
I liked this a lot. I think I’ll buy the trade when it’s collected.
Jesus Christ. I know Superman got beaten bad, but that alien's eye got knocked off its socket.
/fit/zens how do i get a body like the last panel ?
I like this run. But is it just me or do some points seem choppy and confusing? Like a page or 10 are missing to understand context. I am all for a more de powered superman like this, hell I wish all DC heroes would go back to this level instead of the God like bullshit feats they can do these days.
I think its because they're all connected to that thought-helmet he tried on last issue so its all in a stream-of-conscious style.
What attacked and took out supes? I thought it was the missile but it seems to be this. Who is talking to Superman and why did he attack?
we have made a mistake.
Nice
Give Superman to Tom King
Welcome to the current year. The era of comfy shit, Disney remakes and man children obsessed with chilhood nostalgia.
Bitch ass mother fucker. Ali wouldn't have gone down like this. It's clear now he was holding back against this "Superman"
Roids, unironically. His biceps and forearms are bigger than his head.
This. I'd like to see Superman shown to be hurt more when fighting guys like Zod or Bizzaro. I think it would have helped in MoS if he was shown taking some damage
It was less the idea of Superman having these thoughts than seeing them played out graphically in what is supposed to be a comic marketed to kids. I don't give a fuck but I can understand why some people were upset
fuck this is so good
Unironically this.
Well, originally Mighto actually was physically stronger than Superman(boy) but with a silly weakness (his kryptonite was freaking music).
Here he is outright described as weaker though, just close enough to put up a fight since Superman can't use all of his powers.
These two issues are some of the best superman in years.
Give King Superman now.
>Superman goes to the Rocky Balboa school of boxing
Unironically pretty fucking great
We did it
anyone else reading Lois Lane? What did they mean by this?
Clearly a different Mighto since he's not made of rocks.
You'll never see Goku do this. I'm just saying.
Why do depressive cunts write best superman?
>Morrison, Mark Millar, Moore, Ennis and now king.
Is it that weird? I hate Bendis as much as the next guy but the man's bread and butter is street level stuff
Because Superman has always had a bit of poignant loneliness at the heart of his character. As Superman, he's the Strange Visitor from the planet Krypton. As Clark Kent he's a mild mannered reporter.
A lot of his Silver Age stuff were Twilight Zone psychodramas for children where everyone he loves turns out to hate him because they've been replaced by robots or he's forced to hurt their feelings as part of some master plan to capture the bad guys.
Superman doesn't wallow in loneliness, but it is a part of his character.
>Tom King and Bendis team up to write World's Finest
What happens?
Well it's DC so Bendis would write the superman parts and King the batman parts.
>best superman story since
Why would they have both of the writers they have to pay the most on one book
Not my scenario lad.
Also gotta spend money to make money.
Whoops you're right, here's a picture of Batman to make up for my lack of reading comprehension
>faster than Superman
Catwoman should've been there instead.
Nothing, because both Writers tend to decompress for the hell of it so literally nothing would happen each issue
It only gets worse from here, there is big drop in quality after the Thousand Deaths of Lois Lane
I dropped Supes and Action the moment Benis took over and I've not picked them back up. This however has been at least enjoyable for the two first issues, so I think I'll add it to my pull. Anyone know how long it's gonna run?
Where did he say that it was going to be a happy ending? Because from how it reads that girl is going to most likely be dead
>TOM KING
FUCK YOU I'M OUT
What? Neither Mighto is made of rocks. His fighting clothes have the same colors as the Superboy Mighto too.
There have been 13 issues so far if the 100 page giant 3 issues of it not featuring Kings story. So there are at least going to be 5-6 issues. since they are planning to restructure the 100 page Giants in September it is unclear if Kings story will actually continue much longer.
Also I wouldn’t pull it, issue 4 was really the last good story of the 100 Page Giant, everything after has either been meandering the plot to the point nothing really happens or it’s just super depressing (not that depressing can’t be good in a Supes story, but with King it comes off just inherently weird and out of place) also it was right around that time King for most part jumped of the deep end what with HiC in full swing at that point.
Thanks
Batman is mostly due to Derrington let's he honest. Don't think anyone would be applauding it if it was some brazilian nobody or Tony Daniel
The only comics I’m really enjoying of the 100 Page Giants are Swamp Thing by Tim Seeley, Flash by Gail Simone & Titans by Dan Jurgens.
Batman by Bendis is only really good because of the Art, Wonder Woman By Conner and Palmiotti suffer from the same trappings as their Harley Quinn Run, and Superman is really getting nowhere and suffers from Kings Decompression along with his depression
Wait, Bendis is gone?! Hell yeah.
Superman looks savage in the 4th panel
This is really written by King? Well, color me surprised.
>Foather
The only problem here
This was great
It's more bittersweet than happy, but I get your point.
Nope this is just a mini collecting the stuff from the Walmart 100 Page Giant
>his fucking eyeball is popped out
goddamn Supes holy shit.
