Today in Black Cat, Felicia steals shit.
Black Cat #3 storytime
Next month on Black Cat, Felicia will steal more shit.
Felicia a cute
murderous Felicia a cuter
And that's great!
aside from the bad art and the censorship the worst part of this comics is that the author can't come up with clever and fun bad luck moments. that current disney spider-man cartoon is horrible but at least they managed to figure out some fun, slapstick ways to implement her powers whenever spidey chases her.
This seems like a title that should do its best to maintain a good artist. Going off of the interiors, it's currently not doing that.
Thanks for the storytime.
>Felicia is immune to magic because 'bad luck' is the opposite of the story going your way, which is the foundation of magic in marvel
I can dig it
thanks OP
This is by far the the worst comic I've spent money on.
MacKay ass pull. That's not the foundation of magic in the Marvel multiverse. Black Cat has never been "immune to magic" before and her slight probability manipulation isn't easily controlled.
It is how magic works now. Back during Axis Loki and Doom had a magic fight that was them explaining how magic was telling a lie and having the universe believe it.
>>It is how magic works now.
that's how LOKI's magic(and therefore likely all asgard-related magic) works, not all magic.
nothing forbids Xandar using the same or a similar system though
bats is the only good thing cates created. thx for story time.
I'm sorry. I cannot rewrite decades of history regarding magic-based characters simply for one half-assed, convenient one-page of dialogue from MacKay. It's either an extra-dimensional force (Dr Strange) or ambient energy harassed by gifted individuals (Scarlet Witch).
I know there is no "right" way to depict Black Cat given how inconsistently she has been portrayed over four decades, but I really hate how this guy writes Felicia (even Slott did better at times). The whole story reads like the cliche plot to a heist movie and I don't give a shit about any of the supporting characters with the exception of maybe Odessa Drake. Why didn't they just let him write a Black Fox book and let that fail?
Magic is reality manipulation.
There are many ways to manipulate reality.
If you want to label magic in Marvel as general reality manipulation/warping, then so be it (I consider that more Franklin Richards' domain). However, this still doesn't explain all the other contradictions and Black Cat being susceptible to magic in the past. Her "bad luck powers" were re-activated by the magic of Dr Strange at one point. This is just a convenient excuse for story time by the author.
she got NEW bad luck powers relatively recently and, in my memory, she never tangled with magic since then
that said, yeah, I agree it's used just used as excuse from the author,.
The art is not good
The least they could do is get one of those Campbell clone artists IDW hired for their Danger Girl comics
Why is the lettering and art so fucking shit
You are correct. The character is competely manhandled by numerous authors the last twenty or so years. Her "new bad luck powers" are the result of an operation and scientific experiments (yet again). I forget the story arc and don't care to remember the details. Slott casually tried to link the strength of her powers to her ferocity and ruthlessness during the "Queenpin" debacle. Spencer and PAD are the only writers who don't exaggerate her abilities with these contradictions.
MacKay plans on pushing out issue after issue of heist stories? This entire ongoing series was a mistake and excuse to sell pretty covers and variants. Are there still more covers than interior pages? It's a scam and joke for a monthly series.
I've commented on the jagged lettering before and thought it might be nitpicking. I'm glad I'm not alone. The excessive dialogue and bizarre choice of lettering just makes this book uncomfortable to read (especially after reading normal typefaces in all the other Marvel books).
Bruh, this is barely passable as retail for a three-issue miniseries. What are her motives other than to just steal shit? How does this relate to the events of ASM? And Black Cat "running with a crew" again just feels wrong.
