Non Disney golden age films

Lets have a thread for 2D animated films from between 1989 and 2004 but don't get remembered for free because they were part of the Disney brand.

I was terrified of the villain in this movie and rewatched it recently as an adult, he’s still really really fucking creepy.

prince of egypt
anastasia
mask of the phantasm
swan princess
secret of nihm
american tail
land before time
ferngully
all gods go to heaven

Rewatched "Cats Don't Dance" recently. It held up better than I thought it would. It's like "Sing" if the people making it had talent.

>all gods go to heaven

>sitcom about different deities chilling out together in a generic all around heaven
I'd watch it.

Well at least he got all the letters right

Here is my take of western gem from "the golden age of animation".

All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989)
The Journey to Melonia (1989)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
The Thief and the Cobbler (1993)
Felidae (1994)
Balto (1995)
Beavis and Butt-Head Do America (1996)
Anastasia (1997)
Cats Don't Dance (1997)
The Old Lady and the Pigeons (1997)
Kirikou and the Sorceress (1998)
The Prince of Egypt (1998)
South Park Bigger Longer & Uncut (1999)
The Iron Giant (1999)
The Triplets of Belleville (2003)

All Dogs Go To Heaven is pure garbage though except from the animation. The plot itself is a pure mess

So, 14 of the 15 I listed are good then. :)
Many of them are obscure for the normalfag audience, but give them a watch! Disney isn't the only one doing great stuff indeed.

Missing the Land Before Time buddy!

It was released in 1988, just one year before the apparent "Golden Age of Animation" started in 1989 according to OP.
But it's still a good Bluth movie nonetheless.

Based ruberposter

Is Kirikou good or just shilled because it's made by the french and about black africans? Kinda interested in watching it.

It has a pretty distinctive art direction, but I haven't seen it for a while to judge if the story is good or not. I will watch it again to have a proper opinion.

I love We're Back
