ITT Times where directors, cartoonists, or crew members try their hand at voicing characters. Are there any particular examples you can think of where the results are either noticeably good or noticeably bad (pic related)?

not sure if this counts but the entire series of tooned is based around these two racing guys

their voice acting skills are absolute shite because theyre not trained voice actors, theyre racers. the entire show is basically an advertisement

>noticeably good
Pic extremely related. And I'm talking both Parker Simmons and Griffith Kimmins. But moreso the former

Also, fuck right off. Ian JQ is a great voice actor. Just because he lacks much range different from his regular voice, doesn't mean he isn't capable of making characters emote in believable ways (be it comedic or emotional). The work Ian does with Radicles is perfect, same with Darrell.

Attached: I wanna fuck Mao Mao's sisters.png (1920x1080, 1.4M)

Parker also did a buncha "additional voices" on OK KO when he was still a boarder

Attached: firefox_2019-08-05_22-11-01.png (768x576, 945K)

Yeah. It's only fitting that Parker voices a handful of characters on his own show. I hope we hear more original songs from him on Mao Mao, as well.

Skipper was done by the movie's director and he completely killed it, the movie was funny enough on its own with the main 4 but back when Madagascar came out, it was really clear the Penguins completely stole the show.

Pic extremely related. So good he got nominated for an Annie for best supporting actor and should have won.

Lol, I didn't even know they had the same voice until now. Ian really does do a fantastic job.

>co-writer and voice of all but one of the main cast.
How many are even close to Matt Chapman's level?

Attached: characters_group.png (1152x383, 384K)

The head writer voices the main character and a few others. She does a great job most of the time. Another main writer and one of the directors also do a handful of voices.

>Are there any particular examples you can think of where the results are either noticeably good or noticeably bad (pic related)?
Seth McFarlane and Mike Judge come to mind as great voice actors in their own shows.

Julia Pott does the most British antagonist of 2018.

>Let's see... Take responsibility for my own life or blame you?
>"Blame you" wins hands down!
Goob was an entertaining as fuck villain.

Here's a noticeably bad.

Attached: 1543734532262.jpg (182x268, 11K)

Haven't seen the show but TBS aired so many commercials of it and I definitely got the sense that this guy was still pretty green when it came to voice over

>Stephen Anderson, the director of Meet the Robinsons, voiced The Bowler Hat Guy
Based as fuck. It’s especially impressive since he was a big part of what made the movie so fun.

See 90% of modern CN shows. Regular Show, Clarence, Summer Camp Island, OK K.O., Victor and Valentino, Flapjack, Steven Universe if you count the theme, Infinity Train, Adventure Time, Uncle Grandpa, it wouldn't surprise me if there were more.

This.
The worst part of that show is his voice and character. It's so annoying that I can't recommend the show to anyone. Which is too bad, because there are a lot of things it does very right.

It was so bad he had to publicly admit it was a problem and that he'd be toning things down in the second season.

Attached: obcious one is obvious.png (1000x563, 583K)

Flapjack

>noticeably good
Alex Hirsch. He has a good range in Gravity Falls (from Grunkle Stan to Soos to Bill and others)

>You dense motherfucker

Thurop Van Orman, and hes not changing his voice that much.

Attached: 3824-boy-and-his-whale-marvelous-making-flapjack.jpg (320x240, 26K)

Even older CN shows did this sometimes.

Attached: Jeff_TS.png (500x375, 145K)

The voice really made the character.

All of the recurring characters had great VAs

He also did the droids. He was and is the main sound guy for everything Star Wars.

Little Kuriboh?

Eric Goldberg, who directed the animation for this movie, voiced Marvin the Martian, Tweety, and Speedy Gonzales (he also voiced Bugs in the scene that parodies Psycho and a handful of promotional material).

God damn I'm off my game, keep forgetting pics today

Attached: DaffyCouch.jpg (747x479, 100K)

Did they actually fix it since I haven't bothered to watch the second one

I don't know jack about voice acting but I didn't realize the creator did so many characters for way too long.

Attached: TheTalentedMrHirsh.jpg (640x575, 98K)

you can fuck right off

Which OK K.O.! songs has Parker written?

>I haven't bothered to watch the second one
Good.

And, while it does feel like they've toned down on the Garyisms, that could just be due to the much bigger main cast for Season 2. With more annoying/uninteresting characters, you don't notice Gary's quips nearly as much.

I honestly think every cartoon creator should strive to do at least one recurring voice in their own show. It doesn’t have to be the main character; a side character like Pen Ward’s LSP, Dan & Swampy’s roles on PnF and MML, or Raphael BW’s various voices on BoJack is more than enough. Doing so is not only an easy way to get their foot in the door of the voice acting world, but it’s also an easy second paycheck. It only makes sense for someone who successfully managed to pitch and sell a show to a major network to be capable of making at least one funny/serious voice.

As long as those creators can make their characters sound expressive and fun, they’re doing their job well. And if the creator doesn't have that “whispering so my parents won’t hear me” voice that many internet animators struggle with, even better.

Agreed on all counts.

While watching Amphibikino, I spent the entire five weeks waiting for Matt Braly's voice to show up. I'm relieved that he still squeezed himself in the recording booth near the end of the season.

The creator of pic related did a great job. I was shocked to learn that he voiced both Echo AND Booty.

It's too bad no one will ever see his voice-acting work thanks to TBS...

Tony Anselmo was an animator at Disney who did voices/impressions for fun and basically sought out Clarence Nash on the studio lot to learn how to Donald. They became bros and Nash taught him everything he could and declared him his successor before he died

this faggot only knows how to do like 3 fucking voices.

Attached: Justin_Roiland,_XOXO_2015_(cropped).jpg (525x664, 260K)

Tony Anselmo's origin story will never get old. That man is based, and I hope to hear him as Donald for a long time.

Attached: R.I.P. Russi Taylor.jpg (500x375, 32K)

Doesn't matter. Like said about Ian JQ, even if Justin can only doesn't have too much range, he can still voice the hell outta that range. Comedic? Dramatic? Roiland can do it all.

The guy does a great job voicing both Rick and Morty, to the point where I don't think anyone could ever match the exact way he voices them.

Attached: We need bucketloads more r34 of Unity the Hive Mind.jpg (1000x563, 470K)

he also does crinkly wrinkly

I just listened to an interview with Bret Iwan done a couple weeks ago (prior to Russi's passing) and he mentioned that one of the first things he was told when he was going to meet his castmates was "Everyone is exactly like the character they voice."

He went on to list examples on how Russi was incredibly sweet, Bill was really "down to Earth" but could still be really goofy sometimes, and he ended mentioning, "Tony, well... Y'know, he can be really nice and happy sometimes but, well, there are those times where...things don't always go right [interviewer starts to laugh] and, well, he can get a little angry!"

Sure have been a lot of threads about this same topic over and over lately.

I haven't been here in weeks

>Looney Tunes: Back in Action
Haven't seen that flick in years.

Remind me, Yea Forums. Does it still hold up?

I just fapped to this
No shame

This isn't gay right?

Reminds me of how Mike's delivery is so funny because he's not an actor.

Did you imagine benis or varguba?

Doofenshmirtz wishes he had a backstory as good as this guy.
youtube.com/watch?v=e-jiK3Qob2c

Vagene
I know it's not true but I don't care

Kek, Goob doesn't have an endless plethora of sexy backup dancers to help express his backstory through song. Doof wins in that department.

Attached: Back in Gimmelshtump.jpg (1280x720, 239K)

Then I don't see anything wrong with it

>Steven Universe if you count the theme
I don't. Sucrose didn't sing the theme song; the main cast did.

Attached: my favorite shot of the original intro.gif (480x269, 703K)

And pretty much every other voice.

Attached: 1539122255427.jpg (985x985, 204K)

nah he's okay

This. Olan’s not too bad of a VA (though, he does lack range).

The real issue is Gary’s dialogue. A lot of what Olan and his writers may find funny, just isn’t. Final Space has a strong voice cast, stunning visuals, and great worldbuilding, but the comedy (especially all the “Garyisms”) is its handicap.

You might just post at least 95% of the cast if we’re talking about Venture Bros

It's ok when it matters. Like the mom scene

>Another main writer
You're talking about Spencer Rothbell, right?

When he took the reigns as the new voice for Clarence, I didn't expect him to also do so many more voices, as well. The dude's got some crazy good range: vimeo.com/199231539

Attached: by Stephen P. Neary.jpg (1000x733, 87K)

The end theme.

I think J.G. Quintel does a modestly decent job.

Ian Jones-Quartey is good as that dorky robot character. But using his regular voice for that Piccolo knock-off, it sounds so off.

this guy had planktons VA in our dub and its pure magic

>Ian JQ is a great voice actor
hi ian

His name has so many syllables in it, I still just call him "Wallow."
