Jim Davis is said to be continuing drawing the comic, but do you think will he eventually retire and end the comic? He gave up rights to merch and other aspects before he died and won't have to manage that anymore, and I don't know if he is going to draw strips until he dies

I've been watching some Garfield and Friends episode as a result of this thread and been having a hell of a time; why isn't this more talked about outside of nostalgia discussions? It legitimately can crack you up in this day and age. I might be enjoying this even more as an adult now that I can get all the jokes!

Tails ALSO got turned into a girl in the original Latin American Spanish dub of AoStH. His real name there was Vivi.

I know, I grew up with that and Garfield, they explicitly voiced them with female VAs, so I didn't know they were supposed to be male either. I'm not sure who made these decisions, maybe they realized there weren't enough female characters so they simply picked the girliest looking for that.

Not that user, but today I watched the original Garfield's Mama Manicotti then the CGI Garfield's The Perfect Pizza, both penned by Evanier and with basically the same plots. Difference is night and day; couldn't make it past the CGI's first half; jokes were few and far between, the animation is so bad and limited it actively detracts instead of engaging you, and I suspect that lasting almost twice as long as a G&F short kills the tight pacing those cartoons of old had.

Paws Inc. doesn't own the rights to any characters created for the Garfield & Friends TV series. The production company (Film Roman?) owns them.

That's why Binky the Clown couldn't appear in the CG Garfield Show from a few years back. They found this weird workaround with Floyd Mouse, though. Since the generic mouse design that Floyd used originated from the strip, they just used the same design and the same voice actor (Greg Berger) but named him something different.

At this point, Frank Welker is probably as expensive as Bill Murray. He's also very picky about recording times (never records in the afternoon and hasn't since the 90s). Price and pickiness are why you hardly hear him in anything anymore besides Scooby projects (plus the fact that he's 70-something and slowing down in general).
