More Popular Spinoff: To the other Ms. Marvel

Even post-sales slump, Kamala's books consistently sell more than Carol's, and have won a lot more praise and awards.

It helps that Kamala has a character and personality to her.

that is an outright lie Kamala is at cancellation numbers and all the books that feature her are cancelled

More Popular then Carol's.

Only her side-books. Her main book is still limping along in protected status for now. Marvel's put too much into milking Kamala for diversity points to outright trash her.

She sales in Trade Paperback more.

Only her first trade sells, mostly for libraries and book fairs.

>Only her first trade sells, mostly for libraries and book fairs.
I buy her Trade Paperback books,

Her main book has just rebooted recently, and the new author is still in the process of establishing what they want to do with the character (we've only just finished the first plot line). What's more is that the previous author's run was running on fumes for a few issues while the transition phase was occurring. That is to say, 2019 started off as a slow year for Kamala's solo book, and it's only just starting to find its feet again with the new author. A slow year is a slow year, but we'll probably need to wait to see how the numbers do in the coming few months when the plot gets going again. Although, true, she may well take a hit once the current iteration of the Champions ends.

In addition, she'll probably get a boost when the new Avengers video game comes out, given that she's a major character. A huge number of normies are going to be suddenly introduced to the character.

What about this?I love Kamala's .

I mean, she was in the game, so that's exposure, but there wasn't really anything that made her stand out from any of the other characters. If anything the opposite is true, given that she was introduced with Miles and Spider-Gwen who are both riding pretty high from their appearances in Spider-Verse. She probably seems more like a third-wheel to the Spider's introduction for most normies.

At least she's supposed to be a major plot-driving character in the new Avenger's game, not just another of 600 characters in the Xth version of a fighting game.

Historically, this was true. Another thing that used to be true is that while Comixology only releases rankings, Ms. Marvel was one of a tiny handful of books to have a position on the Comixology ranking far, far higher than its placing on the Comichron record.
Unfortunately for Kamala, like Carol before her, the departure of her big break author seems to have tanked sales. She sold 16,000 last month while Carol sold 31,000. Carol's main book is still below her on comixology, but she's not placing well right now. And Kamala is at issue 4, while Carol is further past the spike at #6.

But in order for comparisons to be really fair, you need to spot Kamala about 10 more relaunch-to-trashcan runs. Most of Carol's runs have divebombed out of the stable number range fairly quickly; but the 11th time seems like it might be the charm.

>But in order for comparisons to be really fair
It's more than that. Carol just had her big MCU debut earlier in the year, followed by her appearance in Endgame. It's by far the most exposure the character has ever had.

It's certainly not a fair comparison given that Carol just got unprecedented exposure in popular media, all while Kamala was transitioning through her first major reboot.

Historically movies don't push comics. There's a slight bump for successful comics the month of, and a little bump for gns- but historically movies just don't really make a difference to floppy sales.

Please show proof. Dont just claim shit

I honestly feel bad for Kamala Khan because she really seems like a fun character who genuinely wants to be a genuine Muslim hero, but she's often forced into tie-ins, and crossovers, and political comics that feel out of place in her stories.

Comichron.com

He is correct. Approximate numbers are in my post here.
"All of the books that feature her" are not cancelled, but champions and the like are, so she's not doing as well as she was a year ago in ancillary sales. She's in a bad spot.

So basically, every book with Kamala that's not her own solo is cancelled.

Sort of? She's still doing rounds and appearing in other books. She's in a bad spot, but not like, Moon Knight bad. She's in a team-up issue with Carol this month. Her team book ends this month. I would expect to see it relaunched in the near future, but the sales to be soft.

>She's in a team-up issue with Carol this month.
Marvel Team-Up was supposed to be a second ongoing for Kamala, but it's already cancelled. All they're doing now is putting out the leftover issues.

Not even Spider-Man could save her on this one.

Champions is cancelled?

Yes.

>I honestly feel bad for Kamala Khan because she really seems like a fun character who could genuinely be her own hero, but she's forced into being a legacy/knock-off of another hero
fixed

Champions ends in October. Expect a relaunch to be announced before long.

how many Japanese will have cum over that?

she was in one tie in her last run. I don't get why people always blame that for her sales. The big sales drop happened after that voting chapter and continued as wilson started get aimless with the title. Ahmed hasn't really lost readers either the book went back to the numbers it had before the relaunch. Which happened with most books during the yearly relaunch era.

Her digitals haven't been as hot either. she use to be in top ten pretty much all the time. Now she barely makes top 20

>yearly relaunch era.
Is over?

Yeah. She's in a bad place. I think Ahmed is a better writer overall than Wilson based on other titles, but quality wise, the book deserves the sales it's getting right now.

So how do we save Kamala?

Pretty much, I mean it was worse before and happened pretty much regardless of sales. It was credited as an Axel Alonso thing.
He dragged the first arc out too long kept Kamala away from her supporting cast. Plus having her parents get an extended arc only to be mind wiped probably soured him in many people's eyes.s

Maybe because they're actually creative here and there. Carol's books feel like they're are written by an AI.

You can say magnificent and Champions had the relaunch gimp but Team-up was new and had spider-man but had to be massively overshipped from the first chapter.

>unit rank 35
>dollar rank 75

And yet it still failed to sell, so now Team-Up ends after the Carol arc is done.

Don't forget killing her dad off.

We wait for a movie appearance

Well. That's because Carol was only ever just ok at best. Then they fucking character assassinated her, as well as design assassinated her. So now NuCarol has like zero redeeming qualities.

Meanwhile Kamala is often pretty good.

Carol is now for lewding memes, and that's pretty much it.

This pic sums up Yea Forums's version of Carol: a super-perv.

If MCU Monica is going to be the new Ms. Marvel, you gotta match shit up. If MCU cuts Monica's loving dad, then same has to happen for Ms. Marvel.
