Oh, on the contrary. I personally think Victor and Valentino is one of the few modern cartoons that actually has good character design by using basic techniques such as distinct silhouettes and color palettes that really pop, at least for most of its recurring cast.
Sure, they could've stuck a little closer to Fabien Mense's concept drawings, but you can still feel his influence in the look of the main characters, villains, and monsters.
The show's writing is still pretty shit, though.

Creative ideas but the execution sucked, and that's the problem. A lab full of clones conveniently abandoned and conveniently able to perfectly imperfectly mimic their counterparts so they can conveniently be used as a metaphor while they rise up when their leader, who conveniently forgot who she was as a child, sees her doppleganger conveniently return to the scene. It doesn't make any fucking sense outside of the face value story within these two hours, and that's why it's not nearly as smart as you seem to think it is. "Here's a metaphor for how bad poor people have it, but you have to feel sympathy for these violent abominations slaughtering innocents and take all their weird rules for granted so you don't question why it didn't happen sooner, isn't that clever?" No it's not, durr hurr. And even if you lap up all of that as "artistic brilliance," the movie itself devolves into a not-at-all scary generic killing spree that relies entirely on a goofy unnecessary M. Night level twist to make you think it was all worth it.

Did you completely forget the twist of the movie?
Red was trying to get revenge for her Tethered counterpart who switched places with her all those years ago and left Red to live in abandonment with the real Tethered who were similarly abandoned and kept hidden underground, incapable of thinking for themselves but rather copying their counterparts up on the surface.
After reading up on this, you’ll find that the Tethered were a metaphor for the “bad parts” of ourselves that we try to subdue and treat as if they don’t exist. Whether you interpret that as our racist past or our own individual faults, if you don’t truly address those issues and instead hide them, they will come back regardless.
I don’t think the movie was trying to make us sympathize with all the Tethered, but it did use Red as a means of showing how hiding A Disturbing Past doesn’t actually resolve it. It will come back to haunt you. We can only solve these problems (racism or personal flaws) by directly addressing them instead of pretending they never existed.
And the execution of this deeply layered story was pulled off in a very fun and exciting way. The main family was grounded and relatable, and their journey through all this madness was a rush to experience. Whether or not you might’ve figured out the twist on your own doesn’t diminish how well Jordan Peele carried all of the events to that reveal.
I understand how this film can be a challenge to comprehend, but I personally feel that with some analysis, Us is a solid movie.
